FBI Raids Mar-A-Largo but ignores Pop Pop's much more egregious violations

This is a long thread and I only picked out a few parts. Still long but relevant.

The short of it is that the fact that they had a federal warrant means they had actionable intelligence that evidence of a crime is there. Meaning someone who recently visited is likely to have cooperated with the DoJ.

It doesn't necessarily mean that Trump himself is the target. But that they're searching his place and risking the political fallout because of it makes it rather likely.

A judge has to be convinced that searching a former presidents estate is a slam dunk and that the evidence is airtight. This wasn't political, this was evidence based justice.

BTW if you're not aware the Popehat Twitter feed is Ken White, a former federal prosecutor. He does actually know what he's talking about.

It’s funny how the FBI decides what the law is based upon political calculation.  What a wonderful democracy.  This must be why America must spread democracy around the world with our bombs and drones

That's your take? Not that the FBI had enough evidence that there was further evidence of a crime at the home of a former president to convince a federal judge to take the risk of approving a warrant to search it?

When it comes to executing a warrant on a former President, yes there has to be a political calculation. Because no matter what it's going to cause political fallout. That they went ahead shows that they're confident enough of evidence leading to an indictment to overcome that risk.

Him being a former president hasn't made him a target. His actions made him a target.

Him being a former president is what has protected him from the justice system. But that protection has limits.

This hopefully shows that nobody is above the law.

And government always has the best interests of the people in mind, and mommy and daddy are perfect people

First of all, what law is allegedly broken?

Yeah, if you take government documents that don’t belong to you then expect to get raided by the FBI at some point.  It ain’t rocket science, chief…

Turn on something other than Fox News my guy.

Mar-a-Lago has documents that are of national interest. They were not sent to Washington DC as advised, so FBI came and took them.

The Feds get their documents back, while creating a big scene that orange man will exploit for the attention. The rubes will eat it up.

Yeah, I guess...

The FBI made a mistake.  If you're going to raid Mar a Lago, at least give Trump the Roger Stone experience and get the PR of him in handcuffs in his PJs, etc.

For starters it is already a known fact he took documents, including classified ones, out of the White House when he left. A violation of the law.

Republicans can’t say the difference between treason and patriotism out loud. Please..

That doesnt even make sense.  You're cherry picking to suit your own biases

Trump is out of office and has been for over a year now.  Where are all these extremists youre talking about?  What legislation have they passed?

The extremists I see destroyed our economy for covid (and its still here), push transgenderism as a non-mental illness, advocate for open racism and bigotry in the name of "fairness", literally have illegal immigration at its highest and most dangerous level in histrory......and oh by the way, want to increase taxes so we can pretend to fix the global climate

These are things that impact your wallet and your rights, not Trump throwing a tantrum because he lost.

I just remembered how the FBI "interpreted” the law when Hillary deleted all of those emails, and it was some BS
