They really had a chance to reset their franchise, and instead doubled down on their approach with a downgrade at HC, no legit franchise QB and then traded up for Chris Olave at what it costs to move up for a quarterback.

They’re gonna have to pull a rabbit out of a hat.

If Brady retires, who wins the NFC South in 2023?  The 7-10 Falcons?

Kyle Trask leads the Bucs to a 15-2 record. Brady’s been really holding them back the past few years.

Nope. Have to extend him and neutralizes the cap advantages of the pick

Using that same logic would have nullified the trade for Jason Peters.

Well duh. He's the only reason Kyle Pitts has ever looked like a good TE

Just peeped at Fantasy. Any reason why Saints players are showing as BYE?

Anyone else having this issue on the ESPN App?

It's showing that in my league as well.

I concede its a premium position but i doubt our cap situation was the same either. You just paid reddick and need a young cheap player there since there are several FAs we should want to retain

If we're trading either 1st round pick this year for a veteran, we're letting a lot of UFAs walk and it's harder to extend Hurts.

I don’t think it impacts Hurts in any way other than it removes a premium asset that could be used to replace him.

As for the FAs to be, yeah, we’d have to certainly let a couple go that we probably would like to keep. But Howie loves those voidable years…

Eagles had 23 million in cap space when they traded for Jason Peters, and then gave him an extension.  The cap was not an issue then.

Burns 5th year option has been exercised, he plays for that amount next year, it can not be renegotiated.

Eagles 2023 cap space, 16.5 million ( and that is before the dead money of the Kelce and Cox release )

Burns 2023 cap number, 16 million.

Burns could contribute this year and help this team win a Championship.  We don't know what the Saints pick will be and there's no guarantee that the pick would yield a player at the same level as Burns.  The bust rate for first round picks is at about 40% and I think the pro-bowl rate is around 30%.  If you trade for Burns, the chances that he doesn't succeed is dramatically lower than any first round pick. There is a cost control but I think the cap hit is worth the player.

If the Eagles are out of range of the elite pass rushers in the 2023 draft, the ideal scenario is to trade down with a team wanting a QB. If you look at what Lance got the dolphins, in this class Howie would probably get the value of four future 1st rounders. Would set the Eagles up for a long time on a roster that will need cheap controllable contracts if Hurts gets a mega deal.

The salary cap is imaginary.

Will Anderson, Jalen Carter, Trade Down. All good options.

I'd rank em in that order for now

If there's one thing the Rams have taught us the past few years, it's this.

To a point.  Can kicking can only go so far.

I am not really an expert, but only Johnson ($14M) and Slay ($17M) have large enough salary figures in 2023 that could be restructured to free up space. However, then you'd be pushing money for 30+ year-olds into the years where you are now paying Hurts.  (Those that disagree on Hurts, no need to opine.  This is an illustrative argument.)

The majority of the cap is in large chunks of money that I don't believe can be manipulated: Dead Cap ($27M), Void Years ($25M), Kelce/Cox ($20M), Bonus amortization ($40M), Roster/Workout/etc. Bonuses ($25M).

The cap certainly was real last year when we had to scrimp and save on the likes of Joe Flacco, Eric Wilson, Anthony Harris and Andrew Adam’s as our big ticket FAs.

I would add Breese and Murphy

F Face isn’t the "F” word I was talking about and that’s not the word Bacarty used.  He used the F word that is derogatory towards a certain lifestyle.  I wouldn’t use that word in here.  I have someone very close to me who lives that kind of lifestyle and I’m respectful of that person.

Nice try though.  You can go back to sleep now.

Yeah the F F word, I use it every 2 mins.  Who gives a F?  I’m surprised you had to go back to September to find an example.  I’m glad I have you so bent that you were so excited to try and get one over on me and you were wrong….again.
