OK, that helps.  I was thinking differently.  I would still rather see them give Blankenship a shot.

Over Wallace for sure if that time comes.  But if the cost to obtain McLeod as a backup isn't that great then I would rather a veteran with experience come playoff time than what would be an undrafted rookie FA.

  • Perfect weekend for me. I got to make my long time soul mate my wife officially. And I got a eagles win today. Life is good.

Blankenship can get his shot next year. At 6-0 and not much of a resistance in the path, perspective needs to shift imo. They need someone proven, now, for this year.

I tried to make that argument last night.  The Eagles are 6-0 and as you said, not much of a challenge in front of them.  I think they could ride this roster the way it is and cruise through the NFC.  I don't think there are any difference makers worth losing a mid-round pick over who are going to put them over the top.  If there's a player worth going all in for then do it but I'd rather see them keep their draft resources to continue building a young roster.

On one of their last drives of the game when they should have been pushing the ball downfield, Rodgers clear as day was yelling "WHAT ARE WE DOING" to the sidelines after he attempted what seemed like a 5 yard middle of the field pass.  Now, he's a veteran QB and should be able to change the play to what he wants but it's clear that Rodgers isn't happy with what he has to throw to and what plays are being called.

I think the plays called stems from having to ask young players and rookies having to run them where the playbook isn’t well known. Gotta call plays to who’s out there and familiar with the playbooks. Add on the packers with watson hurt really have no vertical stretch guy. Which makes no sense why they continue to just sit there with someone like will fuller out there who can at least give you that until he gets hurt.

Packers two biggest problems in a nutshell:

1) Adams and MVS got tired of playing with an arrogant knob and worst teammate in the NFL

2) Rodgers is the arrogant knob

Kempski suggested trading for Rodney McLeod. In a vacuum, if you consider literally nothing at all, it's not bad. But that would be such a terrible process/waste of resources.

I read Jabril Peppers could be available. I'd take a flier there. Has some return ability and maybe Dennard can still tap some of his potential...We don't have much depth there so he can at least provide that.

I don’t think there is an "all in” player out there that makes sense. I hope they build up depth/ST’s with a move or two before the deadline though.

Has this been shared yet?  Well done

A couple questions … when he spreads his arms across his chest, is that a "We are the Phillies!” message, or something else?  When he gestures with his hand with index and pinkie fingers up and middle two fingers down, what is the narrative that goes with that gesture?

I see both sides to the argument.  If the Birds open a two game lead this weekend then I start giving Blankenship a dozen snaps a game … or if the Steelers game becomes a clear win, I put him in to see how he does.  If the results are disappointing then you trade for McLeod.

1)  The whole lineup does that.  They are framing the Phillies logo on their uniform.

2) He is signaling to the bullpen.  It is now 'required' by the team after you hit a homerun.  https://www.audacy.com/national/sports/rhys-hoskins-explains-gesture-to-bullpen-on-home-run-trot

1. Yes

2. I love you (was always to his mom, but seems like he’s doing it to the fans now too)

Eagles have seen him all TC and practice and still have made him inactive 5 out of 6 weeks, while playing Wallace over him. I don’t think he’s anywhere near ready for even a tryout, let alone be relied on for a potential Championship run.

Slightly different. Rhys is crossing his fingers with his thumb. Harper is doing "I love you” in ASL by extending his thumb

ASL. That’s cool.  Does he have a connection to the deaf?

Kempski floated the idea of Desmond King. Pretty interesting. Would be a great utility piece to be the 3rd safety/backup nickel back/primary returner.

Bologna.  They both mean white power.

Any position that can be a role player AND return specialist is better than Covey eating a roster spot for the few plays he is in on and making minimal impact at that.

That TO differential is bananas.

No. Just the fans that thought signing him was bad.

Don’t think so. Just a story of him being a kid with his mom. He talks about it here around 1:45 mark

@mattwill I guess @Utebird would like to know why you have him on ignore.  He tried to pass a note in study hall, but it got intercepted and now we’re both in detention.   His feelings are hurt.

He gets in endless back and forth ridiculous arguments that are simply a waste of my time and clutter up the Blog, so I solved that problem by putting him on ignore.

Adams was one of the best WRs in the league with Rodgers

I think that’s one big area that’s going to regress at some point. It’s so much far and away better than the next best team, it doesn’t seem sustainable.

One thing I blame the Phillies for, I thought Steelers week was going to be way more intense in here. Everyone’s feeling too good.
