For craps and giggles, what are the cap implications of an offseason Mailata trade? @downundermike?

Cap number would go from 7.6 million to 25 million.

Yep, just looked it up and we are the league's top pass defense by an insanely wide margin. Allowing an average of 172yds per game, with the next closest team at 191. What's also interesting to note is who the league's worst pass defense is. Take a wild guess as to who it is...

BTW...we just won a game where our run game was stifled but were able to win by putting up 300+ in the air.

They have played a pretty crappy schedule where the teams they play usually follow up the game against them vs a better opponent

Week 1 Lost to Bears  -  Week 2 Bears lose to Packers
Week 2 Beat Seattle - Week 3 Seattle loses to Atlanta
Week 3 Lost to Broncos  - Week 4 Broncos lose to Raiders
Week 4 - Beat Rams - Week 5 Rams lose to Cowboys
Week 5 - Beat Panthers - Week 6 Panthers lose to Rams
Week 6 - Lost to Falcons - Week 7 Falcons lose to Bengals
Week 7 - Got crushed by Chiefs - Week 8 Chiefs have bye but beat Tenn right after that
Week 8 -  Beat Rams - Week 9 Rams lose to Bucs
Week 9 -  Bye
Week 10 -  Beat Chargers - Week 11 Chargers lose to Chiefs
Week 11 -  Beat Cardinals - Week 12 Cardinals lose by 1 to Chargers
Week 12 - Beat Saints - Week 13 Saints lose to Bucs
Week 13 -  Beat Dolphins - Week 14 Chargers beat Dolphins
Week 14 - Beat Bucs - Week 15 Bucs lose to Bengals
Week 15 - Beat Seattle - Week 16 Seattle plays Chiefs  ...  Guess we better put $$$ on the Chiefs

Didn’t realize how many teams with losing records the 49ers played. Literally only the Dolphins, Chargers and Chiefs and the sea chickens have a neutral 7-7 record.

Ahh the old "whack-a-mole" offense trick.

Agreed. I am not worried about them as much as say Dallas or Minnesota (i know, i know). SF has a very good defense which plays physical, but they are better up front than on the back end and can be attacked. What really matters is that their offense will not score or move the ball well vs our defense. All we gotta do is put up points if we get them in the playoffs.

SF is playing far better than any other team in the conference (besides us). They’re easily the biggest threat on the road to the SB

Who? Dallas (hopefully)

Nope. They're actually the team in (a very distant) second.

Think of a certain coach who regularly hangs his DBs out to dry.

Their SOS, 0.418, is the easiest in the league.

Im not denying that they are the 2nd best NFC team. I am just saying I feel more comfortable with a matchup vs SF than Minnesota and Dallas. And tbh, Dallas is more about who they are vs the scheme or the team. I think on paper dallas has a very basic offense which relies heavily on the run. Their defense is equally 1 tone, especially with the injuries.

Da Bears made a choice on D yesterday.  Either focus on the run or the pass. They focused on the run and the Eagles kept them honest with a few runs but had two receivers over 100:yards and over 300 yards combined. Pick your poison.

They did.  But, I still think that the Eagles running game was poorly designed.  They picked to shut down Hurts.  And the Eagles decided to just keep running him.

Venison is great in chili, but I would add a bit of fat to it.  Don’t hunt anymore so the opportunity isn’t there for me.  Ate a bunch in my younger days.  Only time I really found it gamey was when the deer had been in the acorns.

Mast crop such as acorns promotes Antler growth but does skew the flavor of the meat.

Venison is so lean, almost all preparations require some form of added fat (suet), chili included, unless it's a fine cut, such as tenderloin or backstrap, preferably in a saute of some sort. Dash of Red Wine, onions, shrooms and simmer, all that.

Sorry you don't hunt any more. Venison, like Striper, is not readily available on the open market. But oh so good.

She is pretty- I'll give her that.  Way too wide. SHe so wide needs a special permit and two escorts just to drive that ass down the highway.  Her in 10 years she will be Anna Nicole Smith twin.

Why would Minnesota be a worse matchup?

Dillard will be interesting. Not sure he gets a meaningful deal to start for anyone, and he is the backup left tackle and left guard. For $2 million, I would bring him back for a year. I don't think he will get more than that on the open market.

I do, 1year for 2 million? He’s a 1st rd pick who has at least shown a little ability, and a case can be made that injuries have set him back. But, now he’s healthy. I’d be shocked if he didn’t get much more.

I look forward to the Eagles exposing Brock Purdy on a playoff stage, if no one has done it yet.

Im getting a little tired of hearing how awesome the 49ers are when the Eagles are clearly better.

There's no doubt Dillard is going to get a better offer than that from somebody.

Lol considering the vet minimum is $900k (I believe), no way Dillard signs a $2 mill contract

They have more balance on offense. Their defense can absolutely be taken advantage of, but they can run with us on offense. I just look at that Detroit game and see how tight a game can be against a good offense. I also put some weight in ability to overcome adversity... People laugh about how Minnesota has won all their games by less than a touchdown, but that tells me that they are clutch, they fight. I would still take us in a matchup, but I do not like shootouts.

DeVonta was my favorite college player to watch in a while. The biggest knock on him coming out was his size but he plays so damn tough. Similar to rebounding in basketball, it’s a mentality and you have to want to do the dirty work. He has that mentality and I think he’s one of the toughest guys on this team. He loves the physical part of the game and plays like he’s 230 lbs.

He’s mastered the intricacies of the position … that along with his ability is the reason he’s so damn good imo. Best WR they’ve drafted in the last 40 years.

Agreed. 27 years old. Uber athletic tackle. Showed signs of progress in the last year. Someone will make a move, and it would not be a bad one either. You miss, you are no worse off, but if he puts it together...

Eagles aren't the the 2019 Ravens and Jalen isn't Lamar.  Ravens aren't refusing to give Lamar a contract, they have offered him a long term deal, they just aren't agreeing to give him the fully guaranteed contract that he wants.

You are 100% fully detached from reality living in a fantasy world inside your own head if you honestly believe that the Eagles are planning on moving on from Hurts and not giving him a big new contract this summer to keep him in Philadelphia long term.

That's called using precedent to make predictions for the future.  I never claimed that the 2022 Eagles were the 2019 Ravens, just that the Eagles are following the same path.  And yes, the Ravens are refusing to give Lamar the contract he's seeking (please read what I wrote).

And finally, I am NOT saying that I believe that the Eagles are planning to move on from Hurts.  I am trying to figure out what they are thinking, because they are letting their QB take a ton of unnecessary abuse with this style of offense.  His long term health doesn't appear to be a concern for them.  Which makes me wonder why, and causes me to think about possible reasons for it.  Nothing fantasy about that.   The fantasy is thinking that they can run Hurts at an historic rate (as they are) and continue to do so without any concern about the sustainability of such action.  The examples from the past so far of this sort of thing are Cam Newton - who's arm/shoulder was shot by the time he hit 29 years old; and Lamar Jackson - who's team doesn't see the need to make the sort of commitment that other teams are in their QBs, specifically comparing it to the Kyler Murray level contract.

Are the Eagles going to commit that sort of capital into Hurts, AND run him the way they currently are?  How long will that remain sustainable?  If you aren't concerned about that long term, then I'd say you are the one in the fantasy world.

I think it was RO where Hurts picked himself over the RB.  One thing I will say is that Hurts did a crappy job of protecting himself yesterday. Miles was in the doghouse after the fumble but there just weren’t many rushing yards available yesterday.

Huge fan of Devonta and love his work ethic. I expect greater things in the years to come, but there are so many little areas to refine.

Model his route running after this dude and he will be fine: https://www.vikings.com/video/jefferson-roasts-gilmore-for-each-touchdown

Smith, AJ, and Deebo are my 3 favorite players that have come out of the draft within the past 5 years. 2 are Eagles :groovy: I love watching Smith play. He's an amazing route runner and is so smooth getting in and out of breaks
