It's the ultimate old-school football play. No matter how much the game evolves, I like how they run this and basically say "Our guys are going to punch yours in the teeth and 90% of the time you can't do anything about it."

That's the benefit of knowing the snap count, having more big bodies on the field, and having one guy who only needs a tiny crack in the wall of humanity to penetrate and get through.

BUT... I hate that the Eagles go to this so much.  We saw what Vander Esch did in the first Cowboys game and launched himself head first at Hurts' head (intentionally at his head or not doesn't matter to me one way or the other... ) and that's the kind of play where the actual 'force' used doesn't have to be super great if its just applied at the wrong angle, wrong spot or whatever.   No thanks to concussion protocol.

If that's true, and it probably is, I would agree. I wouldn't fully guarantee anything with his History and style.

Part of the problem is he has no agent, no one is telling him how big a mistake this is. His mom handles all his stuff

No one is worth a fully guaranteed contract

They don't compare to what he has. Ask @hputenis, he was MIA balls drunk for weeks after he received those pics

NFL needs to avoid fully guaranteed contracts. Don't become the NBA/MLB.

I think NHL players get paid in Maple Syrup so who cares about them.

One persons regret is another’s satisfaction

Or with the other players, that surround him on that ravens team

Wrong. They’re only allowed to sign their contracts after chugging a full bottle of the very dark grade A stuff

Every owner and GM in the league was upset with the Browns over Watson's deal

Da Bears made a choice on D yesterday.  Either focus on the run or the pass. They focused on the run and the Eagles kept them honest with a few runs but had two receivers over 100:yards and over 300 yards combined. Pick your poison.

I noticed that early too, and after those 2 interceptions and some other shakiness in the passing game on a cold windy day it looked like it was going to work. But then it didn't. Even on a crappy weather day for passing with a QB who was off his game we threw for 300 yards.  I'll take this ride.

So it's been about 4 months since I've posted. Couldn't be happier with the way the season has panned out, and, sometimes, the best deals are the ones you don't make (trading for Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson.)

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and wish you all a very Merry Christmas & a safe and Happy New Year.

Used to be a big Will Ferrell fan and really enjoyed Elf.  Not sure if just me getting older or the fact that there were too many movies with him playing the same character but Elf is completely overrated to me now.

It’s been widely reported that Lamar is insisting on a fully guaranteed contract, which the ravens (rightfully so) are balking at

Of course he is.  That's what the Browns gave to DeShaun Watson... ridiculous as it was.  That set the new bar.  $230M, fully guaranteed.  And that's with the allegations swirling, the trade compensation, everything.  Just ridiculous to give that contract.   Kirk Cousins also had gotten a fully guaranteed contract.  Why shouldn't Jackson push for that, especially with his style of play?

The flip side is, the Ravens would be criminally negligent to themselves to give him that kind of a deal, just as the Browns were.  They likely want incentives, escalator clauses, an out in a couple years in case of injury.  But, why should he want to sign that?   If he makes it to the open market, he's going to demand more than Watson got.  He's got an MVP trophy, he's got no allegations swirling, and he's got no trade compensation attached to acquiring him.

The Ravens offered him (supposedly) $250M with $133M guaranteed.  And if the Ravens tag him with the exclusive tag, he can still negotiate with them, and gets a fully guaranteed $45+M the moment he signs on the dotted line.   Right now, I think Jackson is the one with the cards in his hand more than the Ravens.   The Ravens will have to do some fancy accounting to fit him under their 2023 cap at the franchise figure.

Maybe they all got their flu shots.

They predicted it was gonna be a relatively effective flu vaccine this year based on the data out of Australia but I dunno I'll believe it when I see it after the season.

Regarding the McLaurin penalty last night, I've been saying for the past couple years now that refs should be doing mandatory press conferences like the players and coaches do after games. They've become as much as an impact on the games as the players have, so they should be treated as such. They've created jobs for guys like Blandino and Pereira to give input during a telecast, so they're an intricate part of the game and can dictate the outcome as much as any player. McLaurin said that the ref told him he was lined up fine, so ask the ref in his press conference what the real story was. It'll help add some accountability and integrity to the equation. The fact that they get to disappear into the tunnel after the game never to be heard from again is a joke.
