I know you are just being snarky... but that was some scary stuff.   Not just that his body reacted like that, but the way his joints seemed to act... 'unnaturally' to their normal flexion.  What was up with that?  Why did his fingers bend so abnormally?

His extension muscles violently contracted due to the brain/neuro disruption

like how stroke patients curl in, but to the opposite effect

Stroke patients curl in from spasticity that develops over time due to a lack of tone from the brain.  They are initially flaccid at the time of stroke.  What happened to Tua was simply an unchecked reflex, looks scary, but isn't as severe as it looks.

As far as the fingers, that's a bit harder to say.  It may have been part of the reflex, but sometimes people just go a bit rigid from the shock or pain.

In general flexors are stronger than extensors that also contributes to many of the curling in phenotypes with neuro inhibition.

i did wonder if he was rigid or arching his back but couldnt tell from the broadcast and the crowd around him. Agreed that it passing quickly is a good sign but they need to catscan him thoroughly

I get that... but the muscles fired out of sync or something.  To me the fingers weren't just clenched they were bent in weird directions compared to normal flexion of the individual joints.  Not just that they were at different degrees of flexion, just that they were bent somewhat in a perpendicular direction to their normal flexion range of motion.  But, maybe it was just the camera angle.

I'll have to stay at a Holiday Inn to get an answer for ya.

Appreciate it.

Who knew there were so many neurologists in the blog?  Is there a topic out there we can't find an expert for in here?  I think not!

No worries

Definitely not.  If there's not a real expert in here,  there is always afan, or CVON.

Time for Tua to hang up the cleats. He def was concussed last week as well.

Yes.  And clearly that was just a dislocated finger on his non-throwing hand. No concussion protocol.  He will play next week.

You should be an NFL team doctor.

Every attorney is also a medical expert, duh.

This is what I dont get about the Tua thing. The public keeps assuming he had a concussion last week.

But the dolphins doctors, the independent doctors, and the NFL investigation(that wrapped up thursday morning) all said no concussion.

By the by, I literally hurt the small of my back last week and I was crippled by the pain and couldnt get my footing either. I looked like the Leo meme where he's pointing at the TV

Can you really trust that though? The NFL isn't known for their honesty. Hurts was 100% knocked out for a brief moment in that Detroit game, and there was nothing that happened after. I was very surprised at minimum he didn't get pulled by the concussion spotter for a play or two.

The league pretends it cares, but at the end of the day it want's its best product out on the field.

We'd have no professional sports leagues if a guy retired after 1... maybe 2 concussions.

Usa Hockey(all be it  the toughest sport) suggests that most children have 1-2 prior to turning 18.

He’s acted way too strange after each hit in consecutive weeks to be out there any time soon

That's his call.  But, I think he's due for some time on the IR, minimum.

I didn't see the play from last week, but if there was a question about a concussion last week and he had one, he's more susceptible to get another... or more severe one while not healed from that one.

Reminds me of Lindros a little... he came back from a concussion and immediately got another one... and a much worse one.

Even more so than the actual medical doctor,  supposedly.

For those that are curious....

"Jalen Hurts takes out his phone at halftime to apologize to the EMB for terrible cheesesteaks he made during the offseason."

Olave is probably their #1 WR, but Thomas is still a very good WR. A loss.

Independent doctors don't review players for concussions in the sideline.  They flag a player to be looked at but it's still the team doctors that will put the player through concussion protocol.

He was obviously concussed last Sunday.  Getting up woozy, shaking his head, stumbling then as he got up he couldn't even keep his balance and had to be held up by a lineman.
