EMB Blog: 2022 Regular Season (and beyond?) - NO POLITICS

Ruining the integrity of the game for the sake of ticket sales and TV viewers is ludicrous indeed, and its bad for the sport. Injuries are going to happen and star players are going to get hurt. Being cautious and limiting what you can and can not do is one thing, the calls that Brady and Carr got are something else.

The other part of this is the gambling business that the NFL now legally attracts and generates through FanDuel, DraftKings, MGM, etc which is millions and millions of dollars on any given game. For example, the roughing call on Jones didn't cost KC the game but it played a role in the point spread and them not covering last night. As someone who likes to gamble on games, the NFL has become almost un-bettable from a point spread standpoint because of the egregious errors being made by the refs and these calls that are impacting outcomes and spreads. Jones made a good point in his post-game interview last night in that if these calls are going to be the standard moving forward, then they have to be reviewable from the booth.

I feel the opposite I guess. Society today overreacts to everything. Everything is cancel culture. Everything is political. Everything is scrutinized with the use of social media. People really just need to relax and be happy the camera isnt on them, because I know all of us dont want that....fathers fighting in the parking lot in front of their sons and all.😉

Everyone should just take a drink, be entertained, and move on with their lives lol.

Not looking to cancel him.   Looking for him to not push him, or after he does it, walk over and check on him.

Integrity is based on what you do when no one is watching.   What we should really want is for all of us to have more integrity.

This week we saw a bit of the Hrts from last year, when he was pressured. He got lost and didn't know what to do, and did a few circles.

Seemed like we dailed back the play calling back to what worked last year. except for a few over the middle throws to Godert. We ran way too many bubble screens, relied on Jalens legs, and the run game.

That concerns me a bit, we regressed. The Oline injuries concern me for the next game.

There it is.

I have zero clue what will happen this weekend but heres what I know

Cowboys Defense isnt elite

Cowboys defense hasnt faced someone as strong, fast, as good of an O line and as good of a WR/TE core as we have.

They held the Rams to 10 points and Bucs to 19 points, the previous two SuperBowl winners.

The Cowboys faced the same O-line (of the Eagles) a few years in a row now. Skill position has improved for the Eagles, but I still think Cowboys have an elite defense, but opinions...

Running the ball directly at them takes away their speed off the ball and sets a tone for the rest of the game...

And if the Cowboys try to run 34 times in the game (and on ly pass 19 times) Jordan Davis will have a fun game stuffing them and Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave will enjoy a productive day as the DEs in the 3-4 / 5-2 fronts.

Reddick - Cox - Davis - Hargrave - Sweat !!!

They are going to be by far the best defense the Eagles will face this year.  They have probably the best defensive player in the league playing at a very high level.  It's an elite defense.

Their defense has played well but I don't think they have faced an offense in the top half of the League.   This isn't the Tampa defense of the late 90s and early 2000s or the Legion of Boom.  It's been a good defense and maybe top 5 in the League.  Parsons is playing on a LT type level.  It will be a good test for the Eagles.

Yes debating the meaning of the word "elite"....this will be a fruitful and groundbreaking discussion

That dude should have just got up and went after Adams with that mic boom.  He'd still lose his job and wont get this amazing $10k settlement hes hunting for.  But at least he'd retain his man card and be able to look his children in the face

Punishing Adams wouldn't be overreacting.  You can't just push people.

Like I said before I am not excusing him and he should be fined......but now look what happend...claiming he was injured and had to go to the hospital....thats the overreaction we as a society need to stop.

There's an individual matchup that worries me: Parsons vs. Driscoll. If Mailata can't go this could be a Winston Justice level nightmare. I don't think Dillard will do any better if he can go. Just not healthy yet and no reps in two months.

Another reason to run the ball directly at Parsons.

Irony.   What was he doing if not trying to get his anger out?

BTW, I'm not angry.  I'm disappointed that that seems to be the way things are dealt with in our society now.

I don't think impulsive acts of violence are a new thing to humanity.  I would guess that similar events have happened multiple times in the NFL in past years.  It is bad behavior and should be addressed.  I don't think it was criminal but certainly Adams should be liable for actual damages incurred.  The NFL is well within their rights to fine or suspend him.

Never claimed they were an all time great defense. But they are one of the best defenses in the league this year.

So after two pages, I figured it, you dont know what Elite means.

Sorry for wasting everyones time.

Elite: a select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society.

Cowboys have an elite defense this season. Their ability to keep other teams out of the endzone is elite.

I expect them to line Stoll up on that side and he and Driscoll double Parsons on passing downs. Dallas can counter by blitzing off that side to force Stoll to pick up the blitzer. The Cards tried that and Stoutland had Seumalo pull from right guard to pick up the blitzer.

He might have been.  Those cameras are very heavy.

I don't think so either.   But, I think they are happening with more frequency and greater violence.

Or the progression of Hurts was a mirage against not so great teams. I hope he lights Dallas up, but I'm concerned. They have the talent even with OL injuries to get to the SB this year. He still seems like the weak link, which could hold them back. We will see.

What Adams did was awful and he should at least be heavily fined, if not suspended for a game. But not sure the push was violent enough for this guy to go to the hospital. Seems questionable based on what we can see in the video. Would be really curious to hear what the extent of his injuries actually were.

It stopped being a sport several decades ago.  It is a business.

Too much money involved to be an honest sport. Then throw in gambling/Vegas and oh boy ........

More inclined to think that the cameraman walked in front of him on purpose seeing how mad he was on the sideline. All for a quick pay day.

Dudes got a backpack full of equipment and is also carrying a tripod, which can also be fairly heavy. Lands right on his tailbone. That crap hurts. I would go straight to the police too. That's assault.

Assault is assault. I don't care how "violent" you feel it is, you cannot go around and just push people. Keep your hands to yourself, it's what I have to teach my toddler. You can go to the hospital for a splinter. It doesn't matter what his injuries were or how bad they are, you cannot push people, period.

We need to have about a billion blitz beaters and 3rd & short/Goal Line plays lined up

I saw that Sirianni gave the team a couple days off, so I hope this is all they've been working on since Sunday night.

My very first play would be a trap and Id let Dickerson or whoever tee off on Parsons

My next play would be like max protect and throw a bomb to AJ Brown.

I wouldn't even care if these plays work as long as they end up with Parsons on the ground and the Cowboys DBs chasing Brown down the field.

You've seen the angle where the cameraman steps in front of him to block his way, right?  What do you want Adams to do -- pull out a pen and give him an autograph?

There's a right way and wrong way to do your job.  That camera man might very well lose his access to the field for all future games, hence the ability to perform his job.
