June 8, 20251 yr At what point do you consider trading Ranger Suarez for an OF prospect?Boston is going to have a logjam in the OF when they bring up Roman Anthony.Their rotation is trash outside of Crochet.

He’s had a bunch of resources given to him and he’s been awful with it outside of schwarber and possibly turner this year. Like he traded O’hoppe for marsh. He traded Bailey falter for Rodolfo Castro. He traded for Soto who was a bum. He traded for Austin hays. He gave Nola a 7 year contract, he gave Walker 18 mil per year, he gave Kepler $10 mil, he gave Romano $10 mil per. Like currently he has $38 mil dedicated to 3 bad players. Thats $38 mil middleton gave him and he basically lit it on fire.

Cause marsh was brought back up he plays sporadically and he’s been way worse. Meanwhile marsh has regressed every year he’s been here and sucks as a CF.Not only did Dombrowski lose the O’hoppe trade by dealing a top 100 prospect for a player the angels gave up on after a year and a half and they needed to fix. but compounded it by signing a left handed Kepler who’s become whit Merrifield yo take marsh’s position and move him back to CF where he stinks.Almost.... this horse crap analytics has done neither of these young guys any favors. ..... you have been around long enough to see some guys have to get into a rhythym at the plate....... No we have to have a platoon with players that do not have the mindset for a platoon.BTW...No one platooned Larry Bowa.... check out his yearly BA'sPut Marsh full time in left..... that defensive moron from short stop in center.... casty in right. Then leave kemp at 3rd... bring up the kid miller at short.... stott at 2nd..... freakin harper at first when hes done with his Mike Trout impressions.... use bohm at 1st until then. Schwarber DH.Bite the bullet and bring up that catcher Tait from aa. Let him watch and learn... Crawford for OF depth.... let him watch and learn.Same goes for the pitching...... Nola ? Walker ? GONE !! Put the kids in there with out the threat of being sent down...... they will learn. This year will be a waste already.Unload all the other crap... and let them grow.Oh yeah.... fire the GM.... MGR... coaches and most of the scouting deptA couple things A agree on the rhythm thing with platoon particularly to Rojas. You look at his numbers when marsh was out and he was doing really well. As soon as marsh came back and he was every couple days he dropped. It’s why Crawford if they bring him up at some point has to play everyday cause he needs the playing time to develop and not be sitting on the bench.Tbh i don’t want marsh playing in general. Hes better defensively in left but he sucks as a hitter. He was good the first 3 weeks after his call up. He’s been bad besides his OBP over the next 3. May 1-20: .389/.436/.936. May 21-today: .183/.341/.644. He just isn’t an everyday player. Also think it’d be much easier for Turner to play a corner spot than CF. Turner played some centerfield nearly 8 years ago. I think you’d be better off with Rojas in CF and Turner in LF until Crawford is ready.Tait isn’t in AA. He’s in Clearwater in A ball and 18 years old. They aren’t bringing him up to the majors from A ball. Why his projected mlb date is mid 2027 or 2028. Don’t bring up Crawford unless you intend to play him everyday. Don’t want him rotting on the bench for guys like marsh and Rojas. He needs the playing time and at bats. So if he’s brought up then one of those guys is sitting everyday. As much as I’d love to trade Walker and Nola, not getting crap for them due to their contract along with their performance. Likely have to eat money and part of their contract. Phillies won’t do that particularly with Nola. Pretty much stuck with them until their contracts are done unless Nola turns it around and they can trade him to a team desperate for SP.
June 9, 20251 yr If they continue to slide, I think you look to clean house as much as possible. Bohm, JT, Casty, Kepler, Walker and Ranger all traded. Retain salary if needed on Walker and Casty. You would net some decent prospects and/or MLB depth and create lots of salary flexibility going into next offseason.Platoon Kemp and Sosa at third. Crawford, Able and Painter all get full time starter roles in the second half of the season.I’d also consider unloading Schwarber if the price is right.

They’d get a nice package for him and schwarber. If they deal wheeler, I’d probably try signing Ranger. Basically would have Sanchez, painter, Abel along with a possibly declining nola. Could use Ranger. He’s 29. As long as they don’t give him 6-7 years he should be fine.

I think they should do it because I think they owe it to Wheeler that he gets to compete for a championship if you’re not going to. that also requires the Phillies actually look in the mirror and realize they aren’t this or next year. Which i don’t think they’ll admit that.Frankly, the other issue with trading Zach Wheeler is I don’t think he wants to go across the country. So you have to trade him somewhere near Philadelphia and a contender. And the only two teams really competing are the Mets And the Yankees. And I don’t see the Phillies trading him to the Mets. And I don’t know if he wants to pitch for the Yankees. Maybe he’s fine with tigers or Chicago cause i definitely could see both of those teams would be willing to go all in on wheeler to go with those rotations

Package him with Wheeler and get a haul.

June 10, 20251 yr Here's my question for everyone. The following are the types of assets the Phillies could (theoretically, at least) add at the trade deadline, irrespective of how feasible it may be:1. Elite MLB outfield bat, reliable all-star2. Quality MLB outfield bat. Improvement over what we have, but not a true middle of the order stud.3. Elite plug-and-play high leverage bullpen arm with ~1 year of control.4. Quality moderate to high leverage bullpen arm, clearly helps, but not a lock down guy.5. Elite top 10-15 type AAA/AA prospect, outfield bat with pop.6. Quality top 50 type AAA/AA outfield batOn the other side of that coin, we have Luzardo, Nola, Suarez, Painter, Abel, Crawford, Miller. For each of those 7 theoretically trade-able assets we have, list what return assets you would be willing to unload each of them for.
June 10, 20251 yr I'll go:Luzardo: 1, 5. Not getting either. So basically saying hold.Nola: 1/2/3/4/5/6. Trade for any of them.Suarez: love the guy, but he's going for nothing soon. 1/2/3/5. Maybe also a 4+6 would be most attainable.Painter: Maybe 1, maybe 5 and change in the right theoretical scenario.Abel: 1/5 (obviously not getting either). I don't like trading a 23 year old with elite stuff for a bullpen arm or a marginal lineup upgrade. Feels short sighted So I'd want a pretty high end outfield prospect. Something between 5 and 6.Crawford: 1/3/5. I suppose one might say that he is #6, although I think he's just outside of the top 50. I'm just not a fan of his profile as a hitter.Miller: 1/5 (because 5 is better than the level of prospect he is at the moment).I understand the bullpen needs help, but I really don't like the idea of trading any of those assets for a mere bullpen arm, both because I don't think the team is only a bullpen arm away and because I think it really isn't good return. Crawford is the one exception and that's because I have a disproportionately lower opinion of him than everyone else. I wouldn't mind digging deeper into their bag of prospects to bring in a bullpen arm, but you also get what you pay for. It wouldn't be a high leverage return.

Should’ve done it and made guys realize they got him fired by not improving and additionally get a new approach to see if long was a big reason then they want to admit.

If they got a guy like mason miller I’d make that trade. I’d need to know the BP arm in making that. Luzardo only has one year left on his deal and who knows if he was first two months Luzardo or last two starts or something in the middle Nola— I’d deal him for any of them just to get off the contract. I don’t want to be paying him another 5 years. I’d actually look to see if the orioles or Red Sox would want to deal for him.Ranger— I’d try to extend him first. But if i could get 1,3,5. 6 I’d consider dealing him depending on where we stand at the deadline and not able to get him extended Painter— not dealing him. Not going to get a prospect close to his upside and if you deal him for an elite bat then you are gonna have a massive hole in 3 years when wheeler is gone, Ranger is gone, Nola stinks and Sanchez is older. And who knows if Abel is traded or notAbel— 1, 3. Like Luzardo id deal him for an elite bullpen arm like miller. Again really depends on who’s the elite BP arm. I’d consider 5 depending on the prospect. I really like a rotation of painter, Sanchez and Abel going forwardCrawford— 1,3,5. I'd have included 6 but he’s basically what 6 is. So better going with what you got then the unknown from another organization.
