I’m actually surprised Stott is starting. Then again i think they are over kemp at 3b cause defensively he’s awful

I actually thought when they called up painter they’d do this. But i could see it when nola returns and keeping Walker in the rotation. Walker has surprisingly been fine as a 5th starter. It allows more rest for Sanchez and wheeler. Kind also think the Phillies realize Sanchez and wheeler aren’t beating out skenes for cy young

Tough week to be a yankee reliever

It simplifies the game. If you can get 6 IP from your starters and 9th is Duran. You just need to find 6 outs. Tbh the Phillies season is likely coming down to what the offense does in the playoffs and if Orion, strahm, banks and Robertson are going to be good enough to be the bridge to Duran

I think clarity makes the rest of the bullpen better. You know that the starter is getting you 6. If they don’t, then a loss isn’t on the bullpen anyway, especially with the way this team is constructed.

They go into games looking for 6 outs. 6 outs amongst Kerkering, Strahm, Robertson….soon Luzardo.

That’s a tipping point and a big difference from the old get the starter through 6 and see what happens amongst a random combination of 7+ from the starter and everyone in the pen getting inserted at random non predetermined points in the game.

That was the day they put the Pride Flag on the jumbotron during the National Anthem

They frankly need to see if marsh can hit LHP. He is in his 5th year as a mlb. The time to see if he can sink or swim vs LHP is now. He’s shown he can hit RHP and be effective. However since May 1 when he got called back up he’s seen just 17.9% of his total plate appearances against LHP. That would be a career low. I felt this way before, they basically aren’t going to allow him to see LHP consistently this year cause he’s been hitting so well vs. RHP. I’d bet a lot of money it comes down to they think if he struggles vs. LHP that it’ll bleed into his at bats against RHP and he’d go into another major slump. Like he was seeing 33% of his plate appearances vs. LHP in March and april (would’ve been on pace for career high) with 44% K rate. I guarantee they saw and figured when he got called back up he’s not seeing LHP anywhere close to that.

Him and Stott are hot right now. I’m guessing neither playing today due to LHP in Corbin

It's all I am saying..... let him go for the rest of the year...... somebody on the team has to keep him positive against LHP so as not to sink his mindset..... but just run him out there. The K K duo is not hitting either.... Kepler is farther along in his career..... he's not going to have a breakthrough..... Kemp is JAG..... but Marsh might just figure it out.

When I was a kid ..... it was a huge deal justbto be dropped down in the batting order.... the bench ?..... didn't happen..... you had to be injured to be on the bench or you were just a replacement with a weak bat.... but with a decent glove.

Honestly I would dump the entire outfield for next year..... even the AAA players and start over.

Then of course I would dump half the infield... even the AAA guys.

Then dump half of the starting pitching and half the pen

Man I am so glad the football season is starting.

Wheeler is going to go on a 2 week IL stint. He’s missing spots and velocity is down. His cy young chances are over anyway so might as well let him get 2 weeks off in hopes he can get back to where we need him.

Put Wheeler on the IL ffs

This team is incapable of a sweep never going to happen. They phone it in everytime

Good to see giving Wheeler the extra 2 days rest really helped him.

The time to do it is right now. You could give him two weeks off if you do it after today. They got seven of their next 13 games against the nationals. We should be able to maintain a lead in the NL East and give him that time off. And you can bring him back for that Met series in New York.

I posted this yesterday, it’s kind of BS comp because Shane Victorino hit against Lefty and against RHP. Played everyday regardless of who’s on the mound. He was a switch hitter, but he had to learn to be that and be good at it. Not every switch hitter is good at it like victorino was.

Whereas marsh still can’t hit left-handed pitching consistently. When you look more into it marsh for his time with the Phillies is at 81% of his plate appearance against right handed pitching. Furthermore, since he’s come back on May 1, marsh is all the way down to 17.5% of his plate appearances against left-handed pitching which would be a career low. It’s be a better comp if marsh was going this against RHP and LHP like victroino. Instead they are basically sitting him or pulling him when a LHP is on the mound.

Thru their first 324 games with the Phillies:

Victorino:

Vs. RHP: .285/.345/.399/.754

Vs. LHP: .293/.360/.490/.850

Marsh:

Vs. RHP: .277/.357/.464/.821

Vs. LHP: .214/.286/.331/.617

In 5th season in MLB splits:

Victorino (08):

Vs. RHP: .298/.355/.407/.762

Vs. LHP: .282/345/.537/.882

Marsh (2025):

Vs. LHP: .216/.298/.294/.592

Vs. RHP: .294/.360/.468/.828

I’d add marsh got better vs. RHP with Ks. Hes still at 37% vs LHP this year. It’s why he’s still not an everyday OF

Bottom of the lineup with Sosa vs. LHP, Stott and Wilson has been nice today

The fact we might be able to sweep this series with Bryce going 1-11 (so far) and schwarber 1-10 (so far) is pretty amazing

What a Fing play by bader

Bader looks like a dude (hair and appearance) on the 93 Phillies. I love it

Strahm lucky as hell that inning. I dont trust him.

Not gonna lie, didnt see a sweep coming at all, especially in this house of horrors. Hopefully they don't fall flat in Cincinnati and lose that series to erase their momentum.

Nice got the sweep

Mets gonna Met

Mets blow another one roll

Painter absolutely stinking it up in AAA. Don’t know why they think so high of this guy
