His only bad at bat today was his first. That was just bad. But his second he got up 2-0 in the count cause he didn’t chase. Then he got the single. I really don’t blame him for trying to steal. The Mets are terrible at throwing out runners. Like the worst in major league baseball. So if you’re gonna steal the time to do is with realmuto coming up who is unlikely to get a hit with a runner on base anyways

his 3rd at bat he struck it but he made severino work. 7 pitches. That at bat he didn’t swing at a pitch out of the zone. All of them were in the zone and would’ve been strikes. He just isn’t a good high strike hitter.

His 4th at bat was clutch and what he did last year. The first five pitches of that at bat he didn’t swing. Because he knew he wasn’t gonna get anything good in the zone or close to the zone. He got himself into a 3-2 count and Diaz didn’t want to walk him so he had to throw him a strike. And he nailed it. And frankly, he probably should’ve walked a pitch earlier because that second strike was called a ball all game.

So apparently the Mets are 13-3 vs. the Phillies when wheeler or nola starts since 2022. 

I still think the padres when I’ve watched all these teams has the most complete team left. If the Phillies hit consistently and their bullpen wasn’t been a disaster through the first two games I’d say they are pretty comparable.  

There is a pulse. Quite the game.

One thing is for sure. If we don’t get better play from the relievers we won’t win anything.

The bullpen is as streaky as the offense. Thomson needs to designate a closer. 
 

We got to watch the game with a family from Umea, Sweden. My wife’s family hosted a foreign exchange student in 1980, and my wife and her have stayed in touch all these years. It was cool watching the game with them and their three adult sons. They know a little about baseball and have been to a few games on previous visits, but still lots of questions. We plan on going over to visit then in Sweden in a few years.

I literally thought they were dead in the water down 3-0......this team honestly showed me something last night that gives me hope.  They didn't give up!  If this was the Eagles, they would have been booking tee times.

I thought that's why they brought in Estevez was to be the designated closer but Thomson seems to be hesitant. Strahm and Hoffman have proven they shouldn't be in that role. I think you have to go Estevez... not sure what Thomson is thinking.

We can criticize Topper for using Estevez in the 8th, but the Mets used Edwin Diaz in the 7th…

If game 3 gets out of hand I’d 100% throw at him. F nimmo. I hate that dbag
