Every time I read that nonsense, I go look at the NFL leading rushers who have non running, and sometimes absolute garbage QB's.  Running the ball in the NFL has been successful for decades.

AP ran for 2000 yards with Christian Ponder at QB.  Jamal Lewis ran for 2000 yards with Kyle Boller at QB.

Mccoys best season was with Foles

No, not even close.  When Hurts wins a Super Bowl, I am 100% confident I will celebrate it, and not get myself banned talking ish about being glad he is injured if he was to get hurt in the future.

Yup.  Especially on stretches he just resists the cutback.  I think he sees it but doesn't want to take it

Eagles have 4.4 million of cap space next year, before any undue bonuses this year are paid and reduce the 2022 roll over.

The 1st two picks will cost 6+ million.

Then you have to replace or re sign CJG, Bradberry, Hargrave, Sanders, Epps and others.

This team will look significantly different next year.

That's with the 20 million raise? They will look different, but how did he go from 40-50 million over this time last year to being able to sign and trade for all those players? He'll kick the can again.

You are still hung up on the absolute necessity that an NFL QB should be first and foremost a passer.  Even with Hurts having a very bad day passing what we saw was how Hurts affects the opposing Defense … making them less effective.  The play that epitomizes that best is the Gainwell touchdown.  Hurts "froze” the best linebacker in the NFL Fred Warner so that he took himself completely out of the play.  Burrow is never going to do that.  Mahomes can, and does, me rig that kind of attention.

Bottom-line, even when he is personally having a bad game, Hurts makes the rest of his teammates better.

Well, it's not all said and done yet.  We are at the final exam and boss level for defending that theory.  Our run dominant nontraditional offense against the best passer in the NFL.  And Mahomes, with that ankle, is going to be a pure passer with the exception of 1-2 plays.

If we can't pull it off and the Chiefs win on the back of Mahomes' 350 yards passing and an 80/20 pass/run ratio while we point to aerial misfires on our offense, then we are back to square 1 with this blueprint.  And if we score 31 points with less than 200 yards passing while controlling the football all game long, then it worked and is the first step towards changing the NFL.

Yep, especially Hurts. I'd honestly hold off on him until after next year. Try to hold this team together as much as possible for one more run next year.

Hurts is under contract through 2023, so whatever extension they give him would become payable starting in 2024.  I think the Eagles had the option to accelerate some of Wentz's contract while he was playing on his rookie deal, but I don't recall.

Eh.. doesn’t seem like it. Seems like you just passively aggressively talk ish about him every single chance you get, even when he’s playing well. And when he’s not playing well, it like opens up an avenue to ramp it up. What makes you and RTK the same is that you’re both relentless trolls.

Waiting could cost us a ton more money.

Corporate taxes and taxes on the wealthiest 1% are not the same.

And if the cap wasn't real, it wouldn't require experts and "geniuses" to navigate and optimize it.

They are on in the same in most case.

My point is, there are loopholes to work around both and when you have genius numbers guy you can game the system. All facts.

Yes.  As I already said, the cap sites work with a projection which is usually very accurate.

OTC projected 225 million a year ago for 2023, and they missed it by 200k.  The 2024 projections are based on 256 million, which the NFL said will be the ceiling.

Currently, the Eagles have 47.4 million in 2024 cap space, with the projection being 256 million.  While that sounds good, they only have 28 players under contract.

So with 47.4 million, the still need to sign 27 players to fill the 53 man roster, and that is the first year of Hurts extension.  Here is the current 2024 dept chart.

For base salaries, yes. But his signing bonus would prorate from 2023 to whenever.

There's freaking 15 teams that currently have negative cap space for 2023. Eagles are slightly below average for cap space next year, I think Howie will figure it out.

Please quote all the posts of me saying he did not play well yesterday.

It's still a finite resource. It's just not a one year thing. The cap is a multi-year thing. They'll be able to make some space, but they won't be able to keep everyone.

Probably through 2037 with all the void years Howie will add.

Yup. Howie will always have it somewhat under control. We aren't going to see any crash and burn scenarios where we have to bring a team full of UDFA's. But there might be a 2021 like offseason where the stars of your offseason are Anthony Harris, Eric Wilson and Steven Nelson. Once Hurts gets his extension the focus will shift to Howie and his drafting abilities to replace the vets with rookie deals.

It certainly could.  Burrow and Herbert are now eligible for extensions (as is Tua, but .... yeah) along with Lamar Jackson's ongoing saga.  I think the Eagles have now been put into a position where an extension is inevitable, so might as well negotiate it and get it done.

Rodgers is at $50M, Russ is at $48.5M, Murray and Watson are $46M (Watson with a ridiculous 100% guaranteed).  Hurts would slot somewhere between $46-48M per season AAV at this point.

Probably don't want to see Burrow, Lamar or Herbert get a higher extension before it's done.

Adam Berry taking a pay cut? I gotta think a managing director at Goldman Sachs is taking home a pretty penny. Or Jeffrey pays rather well.

When I saw the cap news, I knew the goofs would come on here and argue about the Fing cap when WE'RE GOING TO THE FING SUPER BOWL

We have two weeks, gotta fill the time somehow.

How does Slay not get that floating duck of a pass in the 3rd when Suh crushes QB4?
