No, I dont think it crosses a line at all. It levels the playing field by making those teams follow the rules.

Teams have done this about the Eagles and lineman being 2 yards downfield on RPOs. Don't be 2 yards downfield.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Yup...there is a difference between discussing defenses, formations and tendencies to prepare for such as a hurry up offense....compared to looking at individual tendencies to focus penalties on. That has to be in real time and unbiased. It is not that complicated.

there is no bias when you call it by the rule. Its biased if you allow the team to continue getting away with it.

I get both sides of this.  It's a complicated line to straddle.

You've got to prepare.  You have review meetings to optimize performance.  And I'm sure teams reach out ahead of big games with an irritating laundry list of illegal tendencies they think their opposition features.

But it crosses a line when you say hey...the colts have a physical secondary.  Let's wash that out with some yellow laundry early.  The Bears have had a lot of late hits this year, so let's be on the lookout.  Bengals have a lousy RT who holds a lot, so pay extra attention.  You've got to watch the game and call the same strike zone.

They can do whatever they want as long as they call the game consistently for both sides. That's all I ask for.

a lack of understanding seriously lacking means he has no lack of understanding, just so you understand double negatives.

Come on.  Hug it out.  Just don't get too handsy.  I've been tipped off to look out for that.

so what your suggesting is that the refs determine one player leads the league in holding so they will focus their attention on this player to change his behavior and he will targeted for holding to level the playing field...ridiculous

Does anyone have stats on how much zone vs man the Chiefs have seen this year against their offense? I feel like playing a good bit of man against them is the way to go.

No. Youre exaggerating with language such as "targeted", and making it sound like a single player will be singled out.

Im not saying they need to make sure they call a certain number of PI penalties on Jimmy Ward.

They should absolutely be prepped to be on the lookout for certain things specific to certain things. Rules are rules. Its the referees job to make sure they are followed. If one team is notorious for doing something a lot and getting away with it, it needs to be a point of emphasis.

My wife’s co-worker is having twins. Thought this was a pretty cool idea.

The Bucs pass rush (probably combined with some extracurricular team distractions) ruined Mahomes in that SB.  While their pass rush wasn't nearly as good as ours, they also did it against a desperately short-handed OL.  It would probably be slightly optimistic to call it even.

I think the entire game will come down to Mahomes ability to elude the rush.  I've seem him laugh off ferocious pass rushes while dancing in circles and throwing the ball between his legs for TDs.  If he is able to neutralize our pass rush while skipping around and contorting himself into 30 yard completions, then our elite pass rush isn't going to be more impactful than an average one.  If either the ankle won't allow it or he just isn't up to that challenge for the day, then that'll be the difference.

I want them at full strength when we take em to the Woodshed. Decisive Win. New Frontiers...

100%. Mahomes is capable of doing things that there’s no answer for. You can play perfect defense and he makes magic happen. But he needs his mobility to do so. Even without it though, you can still count on some big plays. Luckily we have the DBs to match their weapons. The offense is gonna have to be in sync to win. Running and passing. We should be able to run on them even with Chris Jones. And our WRs should be able to get open. If our offense plays as well as it can, and our defense doesn’t make mistakes, even with Mahomes magic, we should win the game. We can’t let the defense make stops and the offense not take advantage. And if it’s close at the end, that favors them with how our "prevent” defense has been. That’s where Mahomes is at his best. We need to stay aggressive and be up by at least ten points with two minutes left.

The discussion on the 9ers officiating

So, Ill try something else.

Maybe its just more frustrating for some of you. But, obviously we have seen the video of Gannon making his announcement. The guy has been here 2 years. Has received plenty of hate, most of it unwarranted. Has been a hot prospect for HC jobs each of the last 2 years. And has no interest in leaving. Does it not endear him to you more now? He could be like, F these dumb Philly fans. Im out. Go make more money. Get a bigger role as a HC instead of coordinator. Go where he can be appreciated.

And yet, the guy must love it here so much, he is willing to stay here. Endure the hate. Pass on arguably better opportunities. To bring many of you a great defense that you dont even appreciate.

I already liked him because his defense is incredible. But that made me like him more. To me, its endearing that he so obviously wants to be here. He can be a lot of other places but he chooses us.

Our DBs are better than their WRs. Kelce is the problem. He’s gonna make plays. Pass rush getting home is the key. And I think they will. This isn’t the best line we’ve faced. To beat Mahomes, you can’t waste defenders trying to pass rush. Keep everyone in coverage. Rush four. Maddox and CGJ can tackle. Andy Reid ain’t running the ball. I like the idea of man in terms of individual matchups. But I also don’t want them changing their identity all the sudden. Do what you do and trust your guys. In theory, yes. As long as they’re comfortable

Yeah, I don't think you can do what you do against this team. You can for some of the game. If the pass rush is ON, you can play our normal coverages. Gannon over-relies on the pass rush getting home sometimes. He has to pick his spots and play some man. Kelce will make some plays. You're going to have to double him. Have someone press him and a safety on top. They're going to put up points. The offense will have to score at least 31 and possibly 35+ to win this game.

Hard to argue. 3rd and 30 pisses people off. But overall, defense has been solid.

Eh, he really hasn’t though. He’s been hot for the Texans who passed on him twice. No one else really seems eager to interview him.

Anybody ask Bosa , Fred, Micah, or the entire Giants D Line how they made out? Jones ? Who?  We got this. Efff em.

We'll need a safety line on Kelce's ass to pull him back from the third level after each running play...

All Starters good to go, KC's worst nightmare about to be reality...

That is the next step, if possible, for the evolution of Eagles fandom.

Decades of embarrassment, then better teams that provided choking and heartache, then...at long last...an underdog, miraculous title that defied all odds.  If there's one last upgrade, it's winning a title while not defying the odds.

Winners win baby.

I think he’s back next year. Because like you said, the only team that seems to have serious interest in him is the Texans. Now that bronco situation I think is curious because not sure who’s in the lead for that job and DeMeco Ryans told them he has no interest in that job. I could see Steichen or Gannon getting interested depending on how it plays out cause i don’t see Payton remotely going there either.

to change the topic a little bit, I think his tougher assignment as a coach might be next year. We aren’t gonna bring back all these guys who are free agents. And there is a lot of them. Cox, Graham, Hargrave, Joseph, Suh, CJGJ, Epps, Edwards, white and bradberry. You’re likely going to have a lot of younger and inexperienced player stepping into some of those guys who leave. So I think he’s gonna have to coach them up and get them playing well enough to be a contender with likely far less talent. this defense with the players we acquired might be the most talented we’ve had in quite awhile. I kind of think we regress next year on defense. but the question is how much and that likely comes down to how well he’s able to adapt to the new personnel and get the most out of them. I think early in the season might be a little bumpy just hope by midseason and end of the season they really take off
