Interesting view on the game from Slay. Didn’t know about the Kittle angle but pretty clear all week that our defense wanted to show just how physical they were.

I think he’s back next year. Because like you said, the only team that seems to have serious interest in him is the Texans. Now that bronco situation I think is curious because not sure who’s in the lead for that job and DeMeco Ryans told them he has no interest in that job. I could see Steichen or Gannon getting interested depending on how it plays out cause i don’t see Payton remotely going there either.

to change the topic a little bit, I think his tougher assignment as a coach might be next year. We aren’t gonna bring back all these guys who are free agents. And there is a lot of them. Cox, Graham, Hargrave, Joseph, Suh, CJGJ, Epps, Edwards, white and bradberry. You’re likely going to have a lot of younger and inexperienced player stepping into some of those guys who leave. So I think he’s gonna have to coach them up and get them playing well enough to be a contender with likely far less talent. this defense with the players we acquired might be the most talented we’ve had in quite awhile. I kind of think we regress next year on defense. but the question is how much and that likely comes down to how well he’s able to adapt to the new personnel and get the most out of them. I think early in the season might be a little bumpy just hope by midseason and end of the season they really take off

I actually suggested CJGJ and Blankenship to be he starting safety tandem a couple weeks back. I think it can work. Tbh i think Epps is solid. i also think Blankenship as he gets more experience will cheaper and get better. i tend to agree with Ej smith who discussed it in an interview a couple weeks back that if they extend CJGJ that the tandem at safety could very likely be CJGJ and Blankenship. eagles were apparently are pretty high on Blankenship and his abilities going forward

People when epps came here didn’t think he was eventually gonna be a starter. And the Eagles got him to that point. He’s solid starter not great. Think eagles rather pay for great/good starters CJGJ and go cheaper alternative of Blankenship over paying Epps and hope they can develop him into that role. I think Blankenship as a rookie showed more potential than what we saw from Epps as a rookie. Epps didn’t start until his 17th career game and really not very good either in his first two starts. Was much better later in the 2020 season. Blankenship might not have been CJGJ and maybe he fails ultimately replacing Epps but he was solid for a rookie and has more upside imo than Epps. Additionally not that pff is the end all be all but Epps is at a 56 this year. I think he’s been better than that but i don’t think i want to give him starter type money either. So if you’re going to extend CJGJ, you’re not gonna pay both safeties. So the odds are you pay CJGJ and you go with Blankenship at the other safety position, use a high draft pick to start or signing a cheap veteran who’s likely not good anymore. I think the eagles are higher on Blankenship than some want to believe.

The Bucs pass rush (probably combined with some extracurricular team distractions) ruined Mahomes in that SB.  While their pass rush wasn't nearly as good as ours, they also did it against a desperately short-handed OL.  It would probably be slightly optimistic to call it even.

I think the entire game will come down to Mahomes ability to elude the rush.  I've seem him laugh off ferocious pass rushes while dancing in circles and throwing the ball between his legs for TDs.  If he is able to neutralize our pass rush while skipping around and contorting himself into 30 yard completions, then our elite pass rush isn't going to be more impactful than an average one.  If either the ankle won't allow it or he just isn't up to that challenge for the day, then that'll be the difference.

Thought about that game too.

Of course, if he can run around and do his thing then we will likely lose or it will be a dogfight.  But our rush is better. Much better. Their O line is healthier. Much healthier than that year.  Even if at best we are the slightly less effective than TB was that year, our D backs versus their receivers should be enough to put us over the top. We are VERY strong back there.

No number 1 D against the pass has lost a SB to a number 1 passing O...

That is the next step, if possible, for the evolution of Eagles fandom.

Decades of embarrassment, then better teams that provided choking and heartache, then...at long last...an underdog, miraculous title that defied all odds.  If there's one last upgrade, it's winning a title while not defying the odds.

I think it's okay to kick ass and take names without having to apologize. Long time coming.

No backing in anywhere, we're the bomb, try us. Frontiers...

So, Ill try something else.

Maybe its just more frustrating for some of you. But, obviously we have seen the video of Gannon making his announcement. The guy has been here 2 years. Has received plenty of hate, most of it unwarranted. Has been a hot prospect for HC jobs each of the last 2 years. And has no interest in leaving. Does it not endear him to you more now? He could be like, F these dumb Philly fans. Im out. Go make more money. Get a bigger role as a HC instead of coordinator. Go where he can be appreciated.

And yet, the guy must love it here so much, he is willing to stay here. Endure the hate. Pass on arguably better opportunities. To bring many of you a great defense that you dont even appreciate.

I already liked him because his defense is incredible. But that made me like him more. To me, its endearing that he so obviously wants to be here. He can be a lot of other places but he chooses us.

He said he’s coming back because he wasn’t getting a HC job.

Teams talk to refs/league office about things like this leading up to a game.

The Patsies were first to really work this angle hard.  What are the refs doing and calling. Doug P and the Eagles followed suit and put lots of time into this.

Not much discussion on the Gannon thing.

Ill try something else.

It was good to get Maddox back. But against physical team like SF, with Deebo and McCaffery running hard I kind of wanted Blankenship to still be on the field and I knew Maddox returning meant Blankenship was out of the lineup.

Blankenship got in the game, and pretty immediately made a big play forcing the turnover. The guy picked off Rodgers in his first ever game. And created another turnover in the NFCCG as a rookie. He made a few rookie mistakes, but has fairly well proven he is ready for prime time.

Can we start Epps and Blankenship at S, and move Gardner-Johnson back to nickel? Or begin to incorporate some of those 3 S looks that we did so well in 2017 with Corey Graham?

Would trading Maddox free up any cap space?

Back the hell up on the Gannon finger pointing or Gannon cheerleading.

Dak absolutely ate Gannon's lunch in a close game that could have meant longer rest for the team. This was 5 weeks ago.

Beating up Daniel Jones and a couple USFL QBs in the playoffs is nice but it does not erase his past failings.

Mahomes faced Gannon last year and went 24-30 for 278 yards with 5 TDs. How about you let him not get curb stomped again before we have to say he's great?

We all know this D is all-time loaded with talent at both DL and CB. Lets see him use them properly in Arizona and then we can add him to a list of Philly legends... after he earns it.

I expect he will but I'm not apologizing for anything until he does.

Any vitriol in this post is not directed at anyone here but its BS that Siri decided we don't have a right to not love Dak curb stomping our team.

We got more Joey bosa. Wow he’s fortunate we don’t play the chargers at home for like 6 more years

Maddox and Gardner-Johnson are two smaller guys. Blankenship is a proven hitter, and reliable tackler.

I could be wrong but remember reading part of the reason CJGJ and New Orleans didn’t come to an extension and eventually traded was cause he didn’t want to play slot and wanted to play safety and be paid like a safety.

We all know last year the D was not very good. And we can reason that it didnt yet have the proper personnel to run it the way it was supposed to be run. Some of us said it needs an NT and it needs an LB.

We got those things, and it took off.

We also know, the eagles lollygagged through some of those late season games thinking they were the better team and could win based on talent along. Keeping things close to the vest prior to playoffs. The teams they finished the season against were teams they were likely to see again very soon in the playoffs.

I put 0 stock in to what Dak did to us in that game.

The Giants game was a hell of a lot closer too, the 2nd time around. And then look what we did to them when it counted.

Gannon and his D have proven themselves to be elite all season long.

Yeah, it’s true. Safeties make way more than nickels so he wanted to make the move to get paid.

What a complete clown. I don’t think I ever hated someone so much so fast since Tie Domi.

I can admit that Maddox getting hurt and CJGJ being out in the 2nd Dallas game hurt the team but giving up 3rd and 30 by playing soft coverage?

I think the blueprint to losing the SB would be playing soft zone vs Mahomes and Kelce.

Again, I don't expect it but we are not inventing Gannon's prior flaws, some fairly recent.

I don't think anyone has called on him to be fired lately and he's got some praise (I don't care who the QB is on the other team 7 points a game is great)

I would have to give him A+ for both playoff games.

We don't have to trust him yet based on past failings. I can't think of a bigger weakness going into the SB then the remote possibility of him bizarrely reverting to 85% completions DC.

By all accounts, this trade culminated from a mutual decision to part ways: the Saints didn’t want to pay Johnson top-of-the-market safety market, and Gardner-Johnson wanted to play for a team that would. NOLA also figured it could recoup more draft capital from a trade now rather than wait for Gardner-Johnson to hit free agency.

If she was a guy I would classify her as "very sketchy”

All the Cowboys are in Cancun so Josina's got to cover something else.
