Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

That sucks for Mecole.

I think cover 4 is not going to be the way to win this one.

I say cover 1 press and cover 3 press will give us the most success. When playing man we’ll be able to have a safety over top, playing centerfield, and 2 players able to bracket Kelce. In zone we’ll be able to stay connected and have a couple of eyes on Kelce without completely vacating sections of the field. Cover 4 will allow the chiefs to get crossers and intermediate routes in the middle of the field, giving a ton of space to Kelce, and not much else in that area of the field if Kelce is covered. Kyzir White is going to have a long day if he doesn’t get into Kelce around the line.
The Chiefs have some really banged up WRs and none of them are amazing. We should get in their face, get physical, and delay the timing for Mahomes enough to collapse the pocket.
On passing downs, I’d go Reddick, Sweat, Graham, and Hargrave. Having more speed to chase Mahomes would be ideal.
If we rush 3, I’d rather bring an extra safety, and have any concept with Kelce getting an additional man defender.
Wrap up 10 because he’ll turn a nickel into a dollar anytime he gets a carry.

On offense running the ball, and quick timing routes to AJ/Smitty and Goedert. Hurts usa to recognize his check down running back before leaving the pocket as well. He’s left quite a few yards on the field by running away from his check down when he feels pressure. Easy 4-6 yards on these instances turn into incomplete or negative yards. We should be able to double Chris Jones and live with 1 on 1s everywhere else. Chiefs will likely try to restrict the short game, Hurts is going to have to make some big time throws, which will be easier if he can at least give our 3 targets a chance to make a play on the ball in single coverage. He doesn’t have to drop in in the bucket, because all three of them can adjust and make incredible catches through defenders.

Every down is a passing down with Reid.  I think you will see zone match coverage to counteract some of the ways Reid attacks zone coverages.  I don't think they need to avoid just straight zone coverages but I do think zone gives them an advantage because it prevents mismatches.  Kelce is a mismatch for Maddox and White.  I don't think Bracketing really does much to take away the parts of the field he makes catches. The key is to take away the initial read and then get to Mahomes.  Gannon has used one ILB looks with 5 dbs and 5 man fronts.  I think that may be a good approach.

I don't think you can count on just doubling Jones.  Spagnolu is a JJ disciple and will blitz to take away double teams to make protection difficult.  I agree the team needs to run the ball at them.  They will have success running the ball.  They need to get them on their heels with runs and RPO's.  Then they can hopeully have some big plays against them.

I’m a complete idiot when it comes to defensive schematics so I’ll take your word for it. I do know that the biggest mismatch in this contest is Reid v Gannon. I’d almost just assume that Reid is going to take advantage of him like he did last year but I might be a taddd pessimistic lol.

@downundermike are you intentionally trying to give me a heart attack today with all the Chiefs breakdowns? I’m already barely hanging on by a thread.

Look at that, Huntley just slightly off from Lamar

That checks out.

Doesn't this formation just open up a gaping spot in the middle to allow Hurts to run behind Kelce into the second level?

Didn't need his dad to confirm this.

Just providing information.  Do with it what you will.

The Chiefs have been bad against slot WRs all year because of that approach. This is a big throw into the blitz/middle of the field game.

I don't like getting this much respect, I want more disrespect. Not comfortable unless we're an underdog.

Keep posting hot takes.   You’ll get there.

While Doc Rivers may be the best coach in Philly, James Franklin is the best coach in the state of PA.

I can't see if it was the TE or RB coming out would still be running on that play if he hit him

And to really harp on that point, Haason Reddick is going to be lining up against RT Andrew Wylie for the most part. Wylie has given up the 3rd most sacks in the NFL this season with 9 sacks allowed. Reddick meanwhile has racked up the most sacks in the league (including playoffs) with 19.5. Either Reddick will be beating Wylie all game long, or the Chiefs will have to give him help. Either way, the Eagles win. Because if they have to give Wylie help, that either means they have one less guy running routes, or another one of the Eagles’ prolific pass rushers is going to now have an easier matchup.

That is a massive stat in favor of the Eagles. They will have to give him help, especially after watching them knock two QB out.
