I hope not.  Already has 13.8 million dead on the books once he is gone.

All of the dead cap and void stuff confuses the hell out of me.  Is there any way to get out of paying Slay $26 million for 2023?

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Completely depends on the Hurts' contract and how it's structured.

I think based on Howie Roseman, We could predict right now how it’ll be structured. He’ll cost pennies in 2023, 2024, and 2025, and by the 2026 offseason, Howie will have a double out; he’ll either be able to cut him for a decent cap hit and start anew (a la Carson Wentz), or rip it up before it starts to get really bad and replace it with another extension, starting the cycle again

Thank God for Ginger and Mary Ann; those scripts were insufferable.  Loved Jim Backus as Mr. Magoo, though:

:offtopic: But relevant to the current conversation...

The Ginger vs Mary Ann debate has been fueling teenage male (and maybe some female) fantasies for decades.

The cast makeup was a stroke of Genius. A three hour cruise? Never saw the luggage.

Two hot babes, one an experienced Hollywood sloot, the other a naive farm girl, both with a never ending supply of enticing outfits.

Two sailors that seemingly never spent a night ashore chasing women and a good time, The millionaire and his wife slumming on a beat up charter boat and a Professor who, for a supposedly smart guy, had no clue what he was doing aboard.

Loved the premise. Bob Denver rocked that role as the ultimate Effup with a pure heart. Alan Hale Jr had to portray the worst Skipper ever. Couldn't fix the boat? Looked like just hull damage to me. ... No Mayday during the storm?

How far from Hawaii can you get in 3 hours and what Island would you find out there?  :angel

Why didn't the Professor, a single man, ever try to engage one of the young ladies? Early Gay commentary cloaked in humor?

So many sub plots, always keeping it civil for the times, throughout. How many outside folks showed up, spacecraft, helicopters, Biplanes, Canoes full of Native Islanders, those castaways couldn't catch a break.

Like MASH, tho, the denouement was less than satisfying. As was the attempted followup. Chasing a Hollywood buck, there.

Some things are better left as they stand.

All that being said....Mary Ann, hands down!  :smoke:

So, the 22,409,000 that would be dead if he was traded, is the 4 void years remaining signing bonus.

So his 26,111,000 cap hit this year if on the roster is the 17 million base salary, 8.611 million signing bonus, and 500 k workout bonus.

If he is traded, the 17 million and 500k go away.

All the spread out void years then accelerate to this years cap if he is traded, so the 17 million and 500k are replaced by 5.361, 5.361 and 3,076

So, 17 million, 8.611 million plus 500k equals 26.111 million.

8.611 million plus 5.361 million plus 5.361 million plus 3.076 million equals 22.4 million ( This is the lowest amount the Eagles can have against the cap )

26.111 million ( if on roster ) minus 22.4 million ( if traded ) equals 3.7 million in cap saved.

My best friend whose family are life long redskins fans will be pleased to hear this

Dan Snyder took a once proud franchise and turned it into a laughing stock.

Not sure Bezos knows any better but it's worth a shot.

As an eagles fan it will be a sad day when Danny boy leaves, it's been fun mocking the dumpster fire that franchise is.

Maybe Bezos will treat it like he does his warehouse workers, bleed em dry, under pay them and force them to pee into water bottles for pee breaks, and that would still be a better culture than what Snyder left.

Go Birds!

This loser keeps doubling down.  You'd think after Minshew crap the bed going 0-2 he'd shut up.

Key and Peele always cracks me up.  I met Keegan Michael Key at the White House Christmas party years back.  I was so wasted that I about lost my damn mind getting to meet Obama's Anger Translator at the White House (probably more so than Obama himself) 🤣

Not really, Hurts contract has almost nothing to do with Slay and how much he will count against the cap due to accelerated proration.

Appreciate that.  In your opinion, what's the best way to handle his contract moving forward?

????  There is always things we do not see or know, but with what I know, let him play out the contract and hopefully draft someone to play opposite him, and then take over as the #1.

The defense is going to be significantly less talented this year regardless of what Howie does.

Gilligan and the Skipper were definitely gay.  The "little buddy" nickname was code, for sure

The Professor was undoubtedly impotent.  I'm sure he was interested but simply couldn't 'deposit his check'

As a little kid it was Ginger or Mary Ann; as an adult my thoughts were always "Ginger AND Mary Ann".  I was a greedy ****.

If Hurts gets an extension, then Slay will almost certainly be restructured.

I really think the smart thing to do is bring Bradberry back on a 3-year deal and trade Slay.  You're the cap guru...am I wrong in the way I look at Slay's contract and how much it jumps up?  Looks like his salary bumps to $26 million next year.  Wouldn't it be wise to trade the older of the two and then use the money on bringing Bradberry back?

If OTC is correct Slay actually has no base Salary next year (2024).  If you trade him prior to the 2023 season the total Dead Cap Hit is $22,409,000.  If you retain him the 2023 Cap hit is $26,111,000.  Is the benefit (in 2023) of $3,702,000 worth the loss of his ability and locker room presence?

He'll probably get restructured regardless. But anyway, my point was they tied themselves to Slay too much already there isn't really an easy out.

Hurts extension will have minimal impact on the 2023 cap.

This is true. Slay is an Eagle for 2 more years. 2023 was guaranteed. Would be hard for him not to be in 2024.
We really need to draft a CB in the first 2 rounds this year.

Slay is not under contract for 2024

Slay is somewhat unique in that he's a 32-year-old CB who's still playing at a very high level.  I would certainly pay him the $26M for one year and make the decision the following season much easier.  I'm just as certain that's not what Howie will do, however.

Shame. I'd rather keep Bradberry
