I think the difference between say western NC and western mountains are mostly two things. First the Appalachians are older as others have said. The second difference is rainfall. Most the vegetation in the rocky mts especially the higher one goes will be conifer trees, pines spruces etc...

Get out in the desert  red rock areas in Arizona Utah Colorado and majority of trees out there are cedars ,Joshua's ,junipers and that's where one gets some ne really extreme and beautiful landscapes.

Zions, bryce, arches capitol reef in Utah, valley of gods in Colorado, Sedona in Arizona and everything in between, the land scapes out there can be stunning surrounded by vast Miles of absolutely nothing but tumble weed and dirt.☹️

Liberty is good, especially when you need time to attend a Parade on Broad Street...

The Patriots beat us in the SB, then immediately lost Weis & Crennel to head coaching jobs. Losing coordinators is disappointing, but absolutely worth it if we win tonight.
