In 2018, everyone thought the Eagles had their QB of the future. They lost both coordinators, Wentz was never the same again, and everything fell apart. Granted, Wentz tore his ACL, but still.

Does anyone have any concern about regression from Hurts or did this season and the SB 100% sell you on him going forward with no doubts?

I personally am sold because of his attitude and work ethic.

I don’t have concerns about Hurts regressing, but I do have concerns that once he gets paid, the draft is going to become even more so important, especially on defense, and we don’t have a strong recent history of drafting and developing great defensive players. Hurts was great this year, but he didn’t do it alone, and I’d hate to see him be a great QB on a team that won’t be more than mediocre because it proves difficult to put a team around him.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

The only FA I'm really worried about keeping is CGJ. The rest I'm okay with letting go. Seumalo may honestly be second on my list of guys I want to retain.

Spotrac Market Value tab on some Eagles pending UFA's:

Cox at $14M -- no thanks

Graham at $5.7M -- seems low, I might consider that.  Not much higher, though

Hargrave at $20.1M -- wow, that's a lot of a DT.  I like him a lot, but not at that price

Kelce at $11.9M -- of course, he's great value at that number

Bradberry at $15.1M -- I like Bradberry but I wouldn't be able to pay him that.

Seumalo at $12.1M -- on the fence with that one.  If Kelce stays, I think you put Jurgens at RG and say goodbye

Kyzir White at $8.5M -- I don't think so.  He just doesn't make enough plays

Edwards at $11.9M -- that's a hard no for me

Sanders at $7.2M -- so long, Miles.  Draft a guy

CJGJ at $13.3M -- gotta bring him back; he's a playmaker on defense.  On this defense that's a unicorn.

I wouldn't worry about the Hurts contract completely. It will hamper them to a degree, but Howie won't let it completely restrict them. He'll structure it how he needs to, to make it work. I think CGJG stays, and Howie brings back two of Seumalo, Hargrave, Bradberry, Edwards.

There's no way he's just going to let them all go, and then end up paying a little less to replace them with lesser guys on the open market who don't already know the team and system.

I think the biggest question is if someone is available who's maybe a tad lesser of a player, but significantly younger, Howie might let those guys go and opt for the younger player. But I haven't looked at the FA class, so I don't know if those guys exist.

Also don't think our injury luck is sustainable. I think there is some very obvious benefits with how they run TC and practices, and I or anyone can't even argue about it being soft anymore. But we still avoided major injuries from flukey stuff all year.

The thing that frustrates me today is that I believe the Eagles were the better team.  Not just the better team in general, but the better team yesterday.

The only two breakdown disaster plays yesterday both went against us (and nearly a third).  One was a total fluke (Hurts fumble), while the other was a symptom of a year long problem with terrible non Jake Elliott ST.

The field was an abomination that unnecessarily introduced chaos into the game and forced adjustments.

But at the end of the day, we lost because the defense choked.  Every other problem was overcome.  The defense sucked early, sucked mid game, and sucked late.  From coaching, to the defensive stars, to each level of the defense, to the backups playing in rotation…they were all terrible.  Horrible.  It was the least resistance the KC offense faced in any game all year.

Field conditions as an equalizer should never happen in a Super Bowl. So have any players or coaches bent any ears regarding ?

I'm seeing people whine about the non-fumble on Sanders being brought as an argument to counteract the "hold" penalty. That would NEVER hold up as a catch if the ball went flying OOB instead.

Would only bring in folks that we expect to contribute at a high level in the 2024 season. So Bradberry is a no for me. Same with Hargrave.

I think people here are severely undervaluing Hargrave. He's a DT who gets 10+ sacks when healthy. Those guys don't grow on trees. He's a big reason the edge guys were able to have success. And there's no obvious replacement for him. I'm telling you, letting him go will have a ripple effect on the pass rush, and it will be talked about all of next season with regret. I honestly think he's a must sign. Way more than Seumalo. You can find quality guards in the draft. Can't find DTs as good as Hargrave that easily.

Hargrave definitely has value. I guess my issue with him is how movable and ineffective he is vs the run. Plus, he's 30 and going to cost a lot. Feels like the right time to move on even if it's a year or two too early.

The Sheldon Brown/Reggie Bush hit was way closer to a fumble than what happened to Sanders.

Hargrave is 30. It's time to move on.

I get that Howie is aggressive, but this SB should be a wakeup call that the goal is to keep Hurts good. You can win a SB with a bad defense.

I think the Eagles should target the best young (and aggressive)  LB coach for DC. The new DC could aid in drafting LBs - something the Eagles have been inept at under Roseman.

Do the Quez fans realize he can't catch yet? Lord, does he fight the ball.

I am disappointed in Quez - I had hopes for him but no more.

I was big on Quez coming I to the year but he has hurt them in big mwnts more than he's helped them this year.

I was always in the "yea they could upgrade but he's fine for the role he's in" camp. I'm all the way the hell out now.

And Aaron Moorehead needs to go. Like now.

I'd like Javon back but he'll ask for more than he's worth. Other than CGJ, not sure who else on defense to resign. Boy will that leave a lot of holes.

Also, the CB CLEARLY touches the WR before he touches the ball. That's textbook pass-interference. No-call.

Again, *both* teams did this all game. Call it fair until the end.

Not buying it.  Hurts had to roll left and throw the ball away at least 3 times.  I guess all of his other throws were stress-free.

Maybe if the other team blitzes and a guy comes unblocked at the qb……

"hey! The o-line can’t allow a pressure if they never react to it.”

Jumping again for the catch for absolutely no reason

Somehow he's made it all this time without learning to run through the catches. Not sure why he feels the need to leave his feet all the time on these deep balls.

To me it's kinda simple.
Only bringing back Graham, Kelce and CJGC

Agreed. Interior pressure is the most valuable commodity on defense in the NFL.

Unfortunately, that’s why I don’t think we’ll be able to keep him. Someone will overpay.

Seems like our very own LB coach is garnering interest as a coordinator. Maybe there's something there.
