Yeah they are more of a six or seven win team.

That might be the case without Hurts and Lane - or perhaps the coaching staff would adjust… it would appear that there is some talent on the team, right?

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

People can talk about Hurts being the MVP but I think Lane is up there as far as his importance. Since 2016 they’re 59-29-1 with him and now 9-22 without him. It’s a different offense without him and given his injury issues the past couple years, I’m surprised they haven’t prioritized a backup behind him.

I think they wanted Dillard to be it, but it just hasn’t panned out and the fact they have Driscoll over him should tell us how they feel about Dillard at RT. They can do Dillard at LT and Mailata at RT but then that’s two question marks instead of one because you don’t know how Mailata will play out there.

True.  And that’s why we should try it out now, see how it works out.  If it doesn’t work out, then we’ll know.  Better to do it now Vs in the middle of a playoff push - if Lane can’t continue after he gets back.

Mailata is big and strong enough, ideal size for RT.  And Dillard has played well, when given the opportunity at LT; especially in pass protection.

I know Mailata has had to learn the game from scratch but I think by now, he should be ready enough to be trained to switch over to RT when needed. I would hope so, anyway.

As long as Gannon is the DC, the secondary is devalued. He wants to put lots of bodies in coverage. There is logic to that. However, then you don't need as many studs. You don't want Kvon Wallace or Josiah Scott, but you can get by with Reed Blankenship.

Honestly, LB is more important in this defense than CB. We need LBs who can cover in space, and also fill the run with 6 man boxes.

Problem is Howie won't use valuable resources on the position.

Very interesting stat.  Definitely something that should be considered when evaluating pass rushers, imo.

Was just gonna post that. I appreciate stats like this because too often the first person to flush the QB doesn’t get enough credit.

Yeah they need to figure it out because I’m with @eagle45 in the logic that Lane isn’t surviving the playoff game when he comes back and they’re going to have to go through the same issue they’re having now with Driscoll or whoever replacing him mid-game. That might end up daggering them.

16. saw daboll is saying he is playing his starters. Eagles have everything to play for and getting hurts back should help. However i am concerned with the 2 weeks off for hurts that he might be rusty to start this game. The eagles really need to prove a point to themselves and just beat up on the giants. I think this game is closer than what we saw the first time, i think giants have some of their confidence back as they’ve played well since our last meeting.

It looked like he was saying he was going to rest his starters from what I read in his PC. Guess we'll find out later in the week.

Maybe trading that Saints pick for Burns wouldn’t have been such a terrible idea

I get Brown wants to defend himself from people saying he ran a lazy route, but it’s kind of a dick move throwing Minshew under the bus to defend yourself.

So the highest our pick from the Saints could be is 10, and the lowest it could be is 14?

Wasn’t much love of the game in that route… bad decision by Gardener, and AJ didn’t do much to bail him out.

I wanted and still want Brian Burns on this Dline, but having to give up multiple 1sts AND pay him north of $20 million per season would probably cause more havoc for us than opposing QBs

The assumption is Gannon is back. I don’t think that’s a lock. I think there’s a higher chance he does return then he doesn’t. However if we get to the playoffs and their defense looks like it did against Dallas, Green Bay and the Lions then there should be discussions about him and his defense? I look at it this way. The personnel on defense is likely not going to be better next year. You have way too many free agents that you can’t expect to sign all of them especially with an impending extension with hurts. So you’re gonna have a bunch of young guys that you drafted out there playing bigger roles and new faces. Offense might be better going forward but defense there’s likely gonna be a drop off in experience and potentially overall talent. I hate saying this, but this might be the best defense the Eagles have in terms of personnel/overall talent over the next 2 years.

I’d argue this is the best personnel we’ve had on defense since 2017. In 2017 the eagles gave up 33 to the patriots but the previous 2 playoff games gave up 10 and 7. I’m not saying they have to be perfect in the playoffs because if you get that type of performance that you had in 2017 for two out of three games, that’s pretty good. However if we going to every playoff game and they’re giving up 30+ points then you’re not maximizing the best personal we’ve had probably in the last 5 years. Imo once they get CJGJ and sweat back they have all the piece for this to be a really good playoff defense and Gannon needs to maximize it. Just my belief the talent is clearly there on defense. If we see a Dak like performance every week in the playoffs that feels more like coaching and less about talent

This upcoming draft honestly doesn't look as great as it was hyped to be a year ago. I wouldn't be opposed to the Eagles trading down and getting another future 1st again.

You people are so precitable.  Tripping over yourselves doing mwntla gymnastics to try to shield Minshew from any and all criticism and blame.  Same flick of people that spent all offseason writing Jalen off with absolute certainty.  Same people who complained about Jalen throughout this season because he wasn't winning games in the style that you all wanted.  Even people here criticizing Jalen for how he looked on the sideline through these games.

Whether you refuse to acknowledge it or not Jalen is a major part of this teams success this year and it's no surprise that they have looked awful without him. Once he comes back this team will resume being a Super Bowl contender because that's just how efficient and great he is.

We've been through this before.  Respond to what I wrote or don't respond at all.   This is your last chance with me.

It's obvious he didn't.

Why didn’t the Eagles do what the Falcons did against the Saints, in New Orleans, and run the ball down their throat ??  It was Ridders first start, and he was not a threat to run or pass.

It is just easier to blame Minshew to keep your Hurts narrative going, instead of assigning some blame to the coaches.

Yeah I said the coaching played a part but Minshew is the reason they lost. Same coaching and even competent QB play wins that game. You're exhausting. I'm glad you think Minshew played well enough to win that game. Tells me all I need to know about your analysis. You just argue to argue. Why?

Daboll was asked about resting starters today, he dodged the question and he said "He will do what's best for the franchise."

Reminder that Eagles in Vegas are 14 pt favorites. So take Vegas' opinion on it FWIW.

This is what I was referring to I guess. To me it sort of came off that he was going to rest his starters.

Someone who actually loves the game, runs his route at full speed... like a professional.  He's not getting paid a $100M to lolly gag.

Of course, the coaching staff sent the message that that was ok with that half-assed game plan.

As bad as we need young, fast corners, are they even worth the 1st round investment with Gannon as DC? He's just going to play basic zones. You might as well draft a couple zone corners in the 2nd and 3rd and save the resources. Gannon is terrified of letting his CBs cover.

Gannon will be a HC next year.
