Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

I can't entertain that scenario.

Any successor to Lane would be a Stand-Alone pick of great value, carefully studied, and an early pick, not someone in a multi player deal...unless the entire NFL Scouting System is fully asleep.

The bar is too high with Lane, you don't draft a Guard and convert him to RT to fill those shoes.

Seamulo remains on a new 3 year deal...They figure out how to retain Bradbury and CJG...

Shake your Dice Cup again and throw out a new set of choices...

Regarding your bolded words, was Shawn Andrews ever "a Guard”?

Yes.  He was never an OT.

I have no idea what you're asking me lol.

There's only so many HOF'ers elected in a year and there's only 2 all-pro's each year. The basis of their voting may eventually change but everything else would stay the same.

Basically, the way I see it is like this:

- All Pro voting is done primarily by the Pro-Football Writers Association

- HOF Voting is done by a committee, which includes 1 person from the PFWA but 15 others from other sectors etc and 1 person from each NFL city, etc

- All Pro Voting seems to directly affect/influence the HOF committee's choices

- As the Pro-Football Writers Association becomes "younger" the may likely use (at least some) advanced stats to influence who they choose for "All - Pro"

- Eventually, this could help offensive linemen having a better chance of getting in, as more advanced stats seem to help their cases, etc

Maybe. I think the eye test will likely always prevail though and the flashy players will get more credit. OL play is a niche within a sport.

Valid points - and I think historically, you're right - O-Line play has been viewed as a "niche" to an extent.

But in this "new offensive era" of the game, teams seem to really "need" high level offensive linemen in order to be successful - especially some of the top 10-15 "high-powered" offensive strategies.  And I think the "new era" of advanced stats has truly helped show how big of a difference some of the top offensive linemen truly make in a game, for a team, etc.

Think about our own offense - look at the difference (not just this season but for the past several seasons) having Lane Johnson starting at RT instead of (just about) anyone else has made.  When he's been out, this offense has looked drastically different at times.
