He was getting the ball out too quickly. And Gannon couldn't adjust our top QBs to play press. Stupid zone D. Moron went back into his scared little shell bend don't break bc that was constantly being broken.

He coached his way out of a job. And we're probably gonna be stuck with him. Mine/most of our concerns all year.... Hurts and Gannon. Hurts did the work and proved he can be our franchise. Gannon proved he was who we thought he was.

Gannon's adjustment is garbage-tier, he's a failure in my book since he can't stop Dak

I hope to god he takes a job elsewhere, don't think I can take another season of his nonsense

Stop this revisionist BS! The Fumble gave them 7, and we rattled off 10 straight. And went into half up 10. Hurts tied the game up and kept us in the game the whole time.    Defense gave up 24

Blaming Hurts is just crazy.  Without him, we aren't even in that game for a minute.

It's just insane to me that anyone would still want to hire Gannon at this point.

Shhhhh he's the best DC in the league. Say it with me ... best DC in the league

You can't possibly put any better talent on his defense. He missed his window. Damn shame.

BTW did anyone ever think that Kadarius Toney would win a SB before Devonta Smith? The irony.

Other random thoughts:

The Chiefs RBs ran the ball better than us. Again that's unexpected and another failure on our defense.

Sanders should not have gotten so many carries. It was mostly a waste of a down giving him the ball.

The Chiefs just wanted to stop the run and let Hurts beat you with his arm. It was a good plan and just enough to win the game for them. Because the way you lose to the Eagles is by letting them run the ball and chew up clock.

That's why you let him walk...

This soft zone D is not what we need, we need a legit DC who's foaming at the mouth and ready to bring the pain

Not some cuck riding around in a Land Rover talking about how he's going to "gut" opposing offenses

They were banking on the Eagles making a mistake... they did... and it resulted in 6 which is even more disturbing

I'm worried he took too much advice from that Vagino or whatever his name is. This didn't look like the last two games at all in approach. They played scared on D. Then got burned when they got aggressive in bad spots. In the end the Turnover and STs cost them the game which sucks

Fangio?

Yeah...there seems to be a of mystery surrounding his involvement. He's been on Eagles payroll throughout the season, so it's hard to discern how much his input actually had an effect on the game.

I thought they brought him on after the 49ers game.

Reid put on a clinic in the 2nd half. We were completely out schemed on defense. Mahomes had it so easy it was pitch and catch all night.

Reid coached better than he ever did deep in the playoffs with us, unfortunately.  But I think this was just as much Gannon being an idiot as it was Reid being some genius.

No surprise there. Reid’s a great coach. Always has been.

Well, I agree if you look at his whole career he's a great coach.  But he was not a great playoff coach with the Eagles.

I don't know if this is a hot take (not for the Gannon part) and will have to watch some more when All22 is available:

Eagles were out-coached on both offense and defense.

  1. Chiefs were better non-QB running than the Eagles.  Chiefs had Wide open guys for Mahomes to throw to time and again.
  2. Eagles had to rely on a lot of tight window throws, everything contested.  Running was a tough slog with no real big gashes outside of a couple Hurts plays.

Just looked like the Eagles were slogging hard the whole game to get down the field and the Chiefs made it look easy.  When you look at the roster talent it was supposedly in the Eagles favor in so many ways...yet...

Gameplan and scheme is coaching.  Guys not executing means they weren't setup for success and coached up to execute the plan.  Either way...coaching.

Also, I think the Eagles just let their foot off the gas in the 3rd quarter. Leading by 10 and seeing Mahomes limping in pain, they thought this was over. I wonder how much that played into it. They were playing soft and hoping to run out the clock.

Also maybe the Eagles D did get exposed? I mean this D hasn't really played that great since that loss to the Commanders, it's been getting by due to Hurts carrying this team and getting them big leads. There was a reason Howie had to panic-sign Suh and Joseph, he knew what we had wasn't enough.

I agree for the most part, although I feel like it was more Gannon was exposed than anything in combination with that trash turf basically nullifying our pass rush.

Cause to rig a game all you need are the refs and coaches and the NFL will get the outcome that’s best for their business

unless you want to think Gannon is a legit moron.. Chiefs players were wide open the whole game if you don’t find that suspect than keep wasting your time on the entertainment business, it’s clear as can be the NFL is not a sport

Edit: didn’t any of you find it odd when Gannon said he would be back "good, bad, or indifferent” why the f would you say that

I think im gonna stop following this team until they get rid of Gannon.

I agree with everyone that Gannon's zone coverage strategy cost us the game. You have Slay, Bradberry, Maddox, and CGJ back there.  Why the hell are you playing zone and not man?  I don't get it. What a bummer.

Bradberry not knowing situation friggin hurt us!!!! Had he not grabbed at receiver, Eagles would have had another chance.

That 'grab' doesn't get called 999 times out of a 1000, to call it and effectively allow a team to run out the clock for a winning field goal in the Superbowl is unforgivable, ridiculous. Even Mike Pereira couldn't make more than a half hearted attempt to justify it.

The thing with the defensive performance is how the hell can you not blitz all game because you're scared Mahomes will pick you apart, but still leave receiver's wide open on the back end all game.

Maddox and Slay might as well not have been there for what they offered defensively.

They played both. Unfortunately the scheme is this defense is "don’t allow anyone behind you” So instead we get gashed for 5-9 yards over and over for high percentage completions.

Eagles should’ve played closer to the LOS and dared the achieve to go deep against our DBs,  thus forcing Mahomes to keep the ball longer. JuJu isn’t a deep threat, Toney/Sky is a gadget in space guy, and MVS is a great matchup for Slay or Bradberry. I think they should’ve gone cover 3 with CJGJ and Kyzir focusing Kelce, then switching cover 3 and cover one disguises. Obviously you mix in other coverages. Cover 9, cover 4, even some zero blitzes, cover 2 etc. The idea of what I THOUGHT defense was supposed to do is confuse or attempt to halt an offense. Gannon has proved time and time again, that he has no idea how to stop a competent offense that is willing to take the easy completion.

Cover 4 is a prevent defense, the exact opposite of how to beat Andy and a Mahomes. It allows offense to clear out a corner, and attack the flats constantly. Playing match out of this, creates wide open voids, due to literally no one having help in short and intermediate concepts. Both, again, huge advantage for the Chiefs. Also, by rushing 4 the entire game, this gets easier and easier to pick apart the defense because you’ll be able to have 5-6 blockers (chips) on 4 rushers, to give time so  your offense can overload and clearing zone defenders. You rush 4. You have 4 covering deep. So you have 3 total players who have assignments in the short/medium parts of the field. Which are your quick hitters and high % passes. You choose to do that scheme against a team with a superstar TE (short-medium quick hitter)  Sky/Toney/JuJu (slots and gadget guys) it’s a recipe for disaster.

Andy Reid is a legendary coach. Gannon got his ass whooped.

Our defense only had to be on the field for 24 mins.....and did nothing. Except commit dumb penalties.

Dear Eagles….

F you.

Agreed. The defense in that second half was just unacceptable. I just don’t like Gannons coverage last night. Seems like we got away with it this year due to the teams we played.

He faced a legit great coach and players and they couldn’t hang. Gannon got exposed that second half. I hate playing soft like that.

I do think Jalen balled out. Minus his awful turnover. But ne made up for it. I’m
