It‘s just nice that whenever they have a shot at a great TE someone jumps them.

And don‘t make them the victim, that’s on Jerry. Roseman would not get beat like that more than once.

Overshown was already good in coverage as a converted safety, but he improved his tackling significantly last season - upside pick if kept clean and allowed to play to his strengths.

I’m just glad they didn’t get Kincaid. He will be a pain to deal with in a year or two.

We'll see about Kincaid, 1st round TEs aren't always what they are cracked up to be as they typically take a bit of development in the league - and he's in the 240lbs, so somewhat specialized (e.g., Calcaterra).  I like Schoonmaker, maybe not in the 2nd, but he could turn out decent and can play inline.

I am happy they got Schoonmaker with Mayer and LaPorta going before them (though they could have had Mayer in R1), and chose Schoonmaker over Kraft who I think is the better prospect. I feel like they took the top of tier 2 rather than the bottom of the tier 1 TE’s.

Yup - Mayer would've made more sense to me (I'm not sure if Schoonmaker is marginally quicker/faster, but I know he's older), LaPorta also a bit small, Kraft level of competition.

Mayer IMO is the best all-around TE in the draft good to very good as a receiver and a blocker. Kincaid can't block inline for ISH. He's a slot guy like Gesicki. Kraft level of comp was the same as Goedert's and he turned out ok.

Haselwood is a heck of a blocker...and if he's closer to his pro day numbers than the combine, he has a decent shot of making this team. Behind AJ and Smith, they don't exactly have size. Covey and Zaccheus are tiny, and Quez is what, 6'? Haselwood and Cleveland I bet are competing for a potential roster spot for someone with some beef to 'em.

Well we need to know where to find our safe space. 

I agree that Howie's superpower is his aggressiveness, emboldened by Jeffrey Lurie.

Howie is able to take risks without getting fired. That's huge! He took a shot at Robert Quinn. It didn't work out. Cost us a late 4th. Also took a shot at CJGJ for a 5th which was key to getting us to the SB. The value of one 4th and one 5th for both Quinn and CJGJ is worth it.

Same logic applies to a lot of his trades. Sometimes, you get Darius Slay. Sometimes you get Genard Avery.

In the aggregate, he wins more than he loses.

Look at the Cowboys. They were risk-averse with Dak on his rookie deal and have 2 playoff wins since 2016 to show for it. They have all-pros on their roster during that time (Martin, Parsons, Zeke, Tyron Smith) and couldn't push it. They'll make the playoffs again and lose in RD1 & 2.
