Actually super cool by harden

A golden engraved Rolex is just another example of complete absense of taste, not ’super cool’.

As usual I think you’re either rich or have style but almost never both.

We knew Tennessee was trying to get that spot to give Will Levis a 5th year option, but I wonder what teams wanted Nolan

I would have preferred Nolan Smith, unless some team wanted to give us a 2024 1st and a 2023 2nd.

Not a watch guy but are you suggesting Harden should have given him an engraved Casio instead?

So happy they got Nolan Smith.  Borderline miracle that he was there at 30.  My friend who is a Cowboys fan was pissed that they took Mazi instead.  Said to me that we just got our Micah Parsons 😂

He must have an excellent engraver.  Really hard to fix "22 MVP"

Fascinating, and I did not know this.  I can't think that this is something that's going to go by well by the American consumer.  You're telling me that if the blow tube has a malfunction that my car won't start!?

Don't get me wrong: this is clearly well intentioned, and driving impaired is wrong.  However, I'm skeptical about this approach.

I’ll respond with some personal insight.  Three years to propose the rule to Congress, then a years worth of commentary before it becomes law, if that quickly (rarely). Then there will be an implementation period. That takes on a life of its own.  Congress rarely does much about missed rule making deadlines.

in my career I saw how slowly that can work. Take for example trains and Electronically Controlled Pneumatic "ECP” brakes.  Took decades for the rule to get proposed on that (kept getting extended).  Then after a much watered down version of a rule was proposed in 2015, it was repealed by Congress in 2017. The whole thing disappeared. Bet the Norfolk derailment brings some discussion back up.

I was involved in discussions and lobbying involving a rule requirement from a 2007 law that wasn’t even proposed until 2020 and as far as I can tell still hasn’t been finalized.  Then as the ECP showed, it could be repealed by Congress pretty easily if the parties involved don’t like it.  (Not all go this slowly.  FAA drone rules happened pretty quickly but that was because the drones were already out there being sold and used.  I enjoyed that one because the bureaucracy was very open to input. my industry had an interest because we were being asked to insure drone owners and also had real use for them in weather, fire, earthquake catastrophes and for safety.  Safer to inspect a roof with a drone for hail damage than to climb a ladder and get on it.)

In other words, by the time this requirement comes to fruition, the devices may work pretty flawlessly.  I doubt it’s a blow tube universally. It almost has to be passive.  Would you blow into a tube that came with your rental car, for example?

The ECPs have been around and available for decades.   The technology already exists.  It was the cost factor that lead to its demise as a law/rule.  The passive sobriety sensors exist but only in prototypes at this time.  Will the carmakers seek to stall?  Absolutely likely.  Will the public endorse the added cost when it is on the horizon?  Questionable.   This snuck into a huge bill through long term combined efforts of MADD, insurance safety lobbyists and the NHSA.  Will it stick in the long run?  Who knows?  Given how slow these things progress, my kids will likely be taking my keys away long before I own a vehicle with such a system.

So many "laws” are pretty generic followed by "and the Secretary shall present a rule to Congress” for its implementation.  That’s where the real negotiations and lobbying occurs.  Isn’t the Federal bureaucracy fun?

I think you’re missing the point. He didn’t have to give Joel Embiid anything. When Jokić and Giannis won MVP I don’t think you saw Jamal Murray or Khris Middleton going out getting gifts for the mvp. Harden didn’t have to get him anything hence why it’s cool he even thought to do something like that.

I think it's the gesture that counts. You must be a thrill to get gifts for 😁

“(…) from the get-go the fact that that was how it was resolved, and it was all brushed under the rug just that we are focused on the start of the draft.. they knew what they are doing when they announced that when they did. They wanted noone to pay attention to it! Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain the great and powerful draft is about to begin. That’s why they did it. Because they didn’t want people asking questions. Because I think they know if enough questions are asked the answers are just going to collapse and it’s all going to be a big sham hiding something deeper than a phone call. That’s what I believe.”

Wow, scorching indictment there. And it’s so true, couldn’t agree more.

Tbh looking back at the last two seasons before 2022-23 the year, it looks worse that he didn’t win the year the sixers got the 1 seed with how everything has played out with Ben Simmons. The fact that they somehow managed to get the one seed with Ben Simmons being a complete fraud and headcase makes it even more impressive that he was able to do that. Cause I don’t think that team was nearly as good as the team he’s playing with today.

I’d take a Casio watch with the calculator on it. Can spell boobless with it. Was the coolest thing in middle school.

Awful statement to get out there. Puts Desai behind the 8 ball a bit in terms of fan outlook. If we start off rough, it'll be "coulda had Fangio." Fing Gannon is such a tool. I hope the Cardinals go 9-8, miss the playoffs, have no shot at Williams or Maye, and Gannon gets fired.

People are going to bring up other DCs anyway if the defense gets beat. It happens every time there's a new DC. There will even be people wanting Gannon back if the defense fails lol

Well now you’re just fighting the report that of what schefter said that he probably would’ve stayed in Philadelphia if it didn’t go down that way. If you want to tell me you don’t fully believe what schefter said today that’s a different story. But based off which he came out and said on the radio today, it sounded like that’s who they wanted to hire if Gannon left if the cardinals handled the situation within the guidelines of the league. I think schefter put out the "probably” because he can’t come out and definitively say it because we’ll never know how it truly plays out cause of how the cardinals and Gannon handled the situation. But I’m guessing he has some really good sources to know that Gannon was likely going to be replaced by Fangio if they knew Gannon was leaving and  the cardinals followed nfl guidelines in interviewing Gannon/candidates. I don’t remotely think schefter put something out there like that unless he has enough sources telling him that was likely going to be the case.

And I can understand why the Eagles would be more pissed off with the tampering if that were the case more so than the whole he was distracted during the Super Bowl. Because if he was interviewing three weeks before and he knew he was getting the job he still could be distracted being in Arizona and leaving after the game. So that factor plus this makes even more sense about why they were so pissed off about when it went down

i’ll just leave it at this if the Eagles knew gannon was leaving before the NFL divisional round then I think Fangio is their number one candidate for DC. and I think Fangio no. 1 place he wanted to work was the Eagles hence why i think he was around the team as much as he was in his year off. Also think the eagles believed that Gannon could possibly be a HC in 2023 so having fangio around the team and helping made for an easier transition if that happened.

this is nothing against desai. I actually like that hire. This is more eagles likely had Fangio as their top candidate if they knew Gannon was leaving

You nailed it when you say I don’t fully believe Schecter’s story.  To be honest, I think it is a speculative conclusion.  Not saying he is definitely wrong.  Saying, I seriously doubt that he knows.

I couldn’t get a look at the actual watch, but a gold Rolex is one of the most sought after watches and probably would rank higher than anything, including Patek Philippe or Breguet as an investment.
