However, many other types of impairment also involve judgement, talking on your phone, texting, etc. Texting is like driving with .20 blood. Should be treated like DUI.

I believe texting while driving is a ticketable offense in most if not every state.  I am sure there are likely cases where an accident caused by a texting driver resulted in vehicular homicide charges.  I have no objection to increased penalties for accidents caused by texting.  I think a criminal penalty instead of a ticket for texting while driving may result in some level of unfair charges by police or those charges would be hard to prove in case.  I do think, with how often I see people going down the road looking at their phones, we are probably just a few years away from a criminalization of texting.

One last area to address and it's onto training camp. If nothing else they need a LB for depth, possibly to start with Nakobe. Best options left:

FA - Rashaan Evans, Deion Jones, Myles Jack, Kwon Alexander, Zach Cunningham

Trade - Patrick Queen, Kenneth Murray, Isaiah Simmons

I think the biggest area of need at this point is WR.  I guess they dod being in that WR from Atlanta with the wild name to compete with Quez but I'd be more comfortable with adding someone who could start if need be if something were to happen to AJ and/ot DeVonta.  I thought maybe they draft a guy like Hyatt but nope.  The UDFA seems like a guy that could push for a roster spot but we are very top heavy at WR.

And trade up one pick as well.  Yeah I'm calling bs.

I think you’re misunderstanding. They initially weren’t sold on taking him but after spending more time with him they then were sold that he was worth moving up for.

It's all meaningless but the summary of people critical of the Cowboys' draft is funny.

We had heard before that that they were ok to take him.  Hard to know what to believe

Teams are declining 5th year options because it guarantees a fairly high salary but I don't think it means they are looking to trade them right away.  I think they are just wait and see for a year in several cases

I’d be willing to bet Paris johnson Jr was also in their targets til Arizona jumped up to 6

I listened to it on a pod and it was more vague. He basically said he didn't know but just look at the 5 non QBs who went 1-8.  So Anderson, Wilson, Witherspoon,  Paris Johnson, Robinson.  If any I'd bet Paris Johnson was high. We know how they love OL and there was a lot of noise about them wanting OL

If they didn’t want a high one-year salary, but believe in the player, they could offer the fifth year option and then rework it with void years to lower the cap figure.

While I agree that it doesn’t mean they’re looking to move on, it’s a pretty strong indicator that they’re play simply isn’t good enough to warrant pay or they play a position that doesn’t any valuable enough to pay it.

Obviously they can still extend these guys for lesser, fair deals, but it’s another reason to target valuable positions in round 1.

They had weeks, even months to do their due diligence. There is ZERO chance they weren't going to draft him as of the morning of draft day, and then after one phone call from him they changed their mind and entire draft plan to the point of trading up for him. Everyone on the planet knew he was their number 1 target in the draft and that they had the former teammates and infrastructure to help him succeed.

Again, and I will say this over and over again, Schefter is a fraud. For whatever reason he was ushered in as the guy to be told breaking news, but when it comes to rumors he does nothing but speculate and once in a while those speculations will happen. I used to listen to him every Wednesday on the phanatic and it was obvious after a while that he doesn't know crap.

I forget if I posted this from Fran.

Here is the difference between WR and LB though. They have two studs at WR and would need an injury for WR to be a concern. I am even someone who fully believes in Nakobe Dean while some consider him a question mark. That being said, behind him they have Nicolas Morrow as the other starter at off ball linebacker and they have zero depth behind those two.

We’re talking about a team that waited until on the clock to debate JJAW bs Parris Campbell even though they play the same position and have a damn draft board already lined up. I wouldn’t put it past them to have been having an internal struggle over to pick him and finally came to consensus the night before.

Yep, speculation, but because Schefter says it some people will take it as gospel. Schefter loves to pawn off speculation as rumor.

Everything you hear about him is great.  Why was he available in the 7th?

That's not even in the same ballpark as the Jalen Carter situation. That was about which player at the same position they preferred in the 2nd round that they had a similar grade on. Drafting Carter with a top 10 pick or not based on the off field concerns is not something you just decide on draft day.

Just guessing but probably scheme fit since he's a tweener DT/DE.
