Yeah the scuttlebutt was he was done, but the bucs gave him 115 or something guaranteed money on his Udfa deal so that gave me some hope for him. Poor kid lost out on millions and learned he had a heart issue in a few weeks.

If Hamlin cave have a heart attack on MN and get NFL Drs to clear him to come back to play, I doubt a heart issue is going to slow Tucker down.  I know Hamlin's was a freak accident but I'm sure Tucker will take every precaution to still play.

Not only that, but also if people realized/cared about policy discounts for safe driving maybe they would put the phone down.  I just found out that through USAA, I can save 30% on my insurance if I use their safe driving app.  95% of the app is tracking if you text or use your phone. The downside is that USAA is tracking my phone at all times and where I go, but let's be honest, every app is.

Being a safe drive and not texting while driving should be more important that saving money but if you can save money, all the better.

Good to know! I'm reaching out to USAA today!

I think that depends on exactly what the heart issue is.  Would Drs have cleared Hank Gathers had his heart condition been known?  His family sued the school and the doctor, and both settled out of court for a million plus each.  Taking every precaution might mean, he can't play.  Or, he might have to sign some sort of waiver to protect the league, team and doctors from a lawsuit if he were to suffer harm due to the condition being exacerbated by a hit, etc.

I'm no cardiologist, but I know that the heart is kind of important to supporting life and if it is compromised, then life is potentially compromised as well.  I don't think it is a simple issue to be resolved.  I think it's rather complicated.

Who ends the year with more all purpose yards: Swift or Penny?  I'm happy with the Swift pickup, but Penny averaged over 6 yards per carry for the past 2 years behind a mediocre at best OL.

Incredible 1-2 punch if they can stay healthy (big if).

Howard Eskin on WIP defending Gannon to a pathetic extreme.   Says he wasn't bad in the Super Bowl and that rat Joe Decamera agreeing saying Gannon has got too much hate in the city.

I really like the Jets RB room.

I was being a bit satirical but you and I both know a tragic accident will result in the formation of some organization like MATD (Mothers Against Texting Drivers) who will lobby for the passage of "Brittany’s Law” and no legislator will be able to resist voting  to prevent another tragedy like Brittany’s so they will pass a law and instruct the Secretary to make a rule and the cycle begins. The only suffering will be the memory of poor "Megan” whose law outlawed texting and driving in the first place. Automakers will then propose the feature of the car reading the text for you and you being able to text back by dictation (see Bluetooth exception to phone call restrictions, for example) and another $10k for a $100 solution is added to the cost of you next car regardless of whether you want the capability or not.  Satire intended.

This draft was pretty amazing, I haven't had a chance to look at every player,  but both Sydney and Kelee have versatility.   Sydney has a slower 40 but freakbeast on all the rest,  Kelee has a great 40.  They were rbs or wrs in high school,  had great yards per carry, etc.  Kelee is 6'2 207 4.36 and he played offense.  Jet sweeper guy.  There is video of both Sydney and Kelee making big runs.

These versatile guys could go into camp or some day in the camp, test them,  see what they can do.   Can they be jet sweeper guy?  Can they block out of the backfield?  What of the things that Quez Watkins does can they do? All the things you might want out of a versatile back,  test them and see what they can do.  The Eagles might as well test everybody who wants to.

Much of the Eagles offense will probably be these 5 things  1) Brown catching 2) Smith catching 3) Goedert catching 4) Hurts running 5) RBBC running.   6) would be Other. And other could be any number of things including Kelee doing a jet sweep, maybe a little better than Quez.  Sydney has a higher ras,  he's built more like a running back.  Shorter, an attribute of slot wrs at times.  211 at 5'9 is solidly built.  He's very strong.  Excellent bench and jumps.

I REALLY need to know what brand of edibles you use.

Why would anyone listen to Howard Eskin & Joe DeCamara voluntarily?

Sorry I can't help ya there if you don't follow the drafts and such. They're pretty good players and all young under contract for years.

I see Swift playing more games and being the back to get the most snaps when healthy so him.  I would out Penny 3rd in all purpose yards behind Swift and Gainwell.

I think a lot are underestimating how good D'Andre Swift is and could be.  Yes, he's had injury issues but I really think we need to take in to account the organization he was with.  The Lions for a long time been a laughing stock of a franchise.  That goes from ownership all the way down.  I'm including coaching methods, practice methods and regulations, training staff and so on.  The Eagles are heads and shoulders about the Lions across the board.

Swift is coming from an old school, knee biting coach to a player friendly, rock paper scissors playing, veteran day off and do what's best for the players coach.  That alone should help him stay healthier IMO.

I think the Eagles view Swift as a RB to be here for the bulk of Hurts contract.  I'm excited to see what he can do.

I don’t.  If it happens it’s likely because Swift gets hurt early and misses a lot of time and his extension is extremely cheap (he takes hometown discount to stay in the city he loves).

If he has a great year, he is likely playing elsewhere next year and we’re getting a comp pick to replace the 2025 one spent to get him.  Howie likes to get the RB room on the cheap…I prefer it that way too

Listening to Jeremiah’s draft review, and he mentioned something that may or not mean much. He talked about how much loving football means when drafting a prospect. He said he never watched Carter practice so he can’t speak to that, but noted that he never had concerns about effort on game day. He also mentioned an ankle and knee injury that gave him two chances to shut it down and be a top 10 pick, but he didn’t, so he sees a guy who does love the game.

I think it depends a lot on how much money Swift wants; he's in a contract year.  Last year, the Eagles RBBC by workload was:

Sanders -- 259 carries, 26 targets

Scott -- 54 carries, 6 targets

Gainwell -- 53 carries, 29 targets

366 carries from the RBs in 2022.  If I had to take a guess assuming everyone stays healthy and that workload is similar, the carries would be Swift 130, Gainwell 100, Penny 100, Scott 30.  Pass targets will be quite interesting, as both Swift and Gainwell have upside there the others do not.  Maybe the RBs get 100 targets this season -- 40 each for Swift and Gainwell, and 10 each for Penny and Scott (etc.)

Yup.

Jalen Carter could have sat out the entire 2022 season, just like Ja'Marr Chase did, and been a top 5 pick too.

Also worthy mentioning that many GMs are risk-averse when it comes to perceived character issues. I still can't believe a team picked Tyree Wilson over Carter. Wilson may not even play this year.

1058 rushing yards in 2019 for Middle Tennessee State with a 143.2 passer rating.

937 rushing yards, 19 rushing tds in 2022 for Sacramento State with a 172.5 passer rating, a 73.0 completion percentage, 11 passing tds, 0 ints.

Sacramento State had a regular season record of 11-0, won a playoff
game, first playoff win in school history, lost a playoff game, finished 12-1.

But. No Pro Day numbers.

How fast is he?  Fast enough to run for over 1000 yards in a year as a QB in Quez Watkins conference, Conference USA.  But there aren't specific 40 times, 10 splits, shuttle and 3 cone, broad and vert jumps.

We're at the tryout for camp stage right now.  Right after the draft udfas are signed, and there are some left after that, and there are tryouts for camp at this point.

If you see the video you'll notice a lot of jumping for TD, it seems like he has gymnastics or diving skill.  Acrobatic.  The ability to jump over players might be useful in special teams,   blocking kicks or punts, or edge rushing, or goal line versatile back.  If the NFL added a test for how far you can dive head first from a running start,  that test could measure acrobatic. O'Hara dives ahead 5 yards regularly.

I think when you add 1K+ rushing yards in a year, 2019, and 12-1 plus 172.5 passer rating in a different year, 2022, that should be enough to get a camp invite. 1000+ rushing yards for a QB is pretty rare, it's not like 10 do that in a year.

There's getting the RB on the cheap, which is how you get Boston Scott and a broken Rashaad Penny and there's lucking your way in to a talent like D'Andre Swift because the Lions decided to take Gibbs at 12.

Buy low, then invest while the value is still low.  Howie can most likely lock up Swift on an extremely low contract if he strikes now.  The comp pick game is fun when it's guys like Hargrave bringing back a 3rd but at some point, the value a player brings on the field is far greater than a 5th round pick.  Plus, Howie already got that pick back by moving the 7ths around this year.

Well I will say Swift is a better option than Sanders to extend…he may be more worth it because of what he can add to the passing game.  Sanders wasn’t really anything special there

It’ll be interesting how Sanders gets used in Carolina. Reich really talked him up as a three down back and his potential in the passing game.

If Swift has a good year but doesn't go over 1000 then he might be able to do a 4mil deal which Howie might be amenable to with a good structure.  Don't think they'll pay anyone 6 unless you're at like 2k yards from scrimmage

Yeah I've seen Carter speak numerous times and I think the questions are probably more maturity and how he deals with teammates and coaches. His desire to win and be great seems to be there.  The smoke with the other stuff seems to be prevalent enough that there's something to it so he clearly has some growing to do

When it comes to a guy like Swift, I go back to his college highlights too because of the team he was on in Detroit.  We're going to see the best Swift the NFL ahs seen yet with him playing behind this OL and the offense with Hurts. I admit, I'm biased towards him because he was one of my guys in that draft.  Loved watching him in college.  He has LeSean McCoy moves.  Absolutely can't wait to see what he can do here.
