The only way Bills finish last and worse than Patriots is if Josh Allen is out for the season.

Probably but Allen just played poorly and Diggs seemed really frustrated by the end of the season.  They need more at WR and didn't improve.  I think NE did improve on defense.

This from Berman’s Athletic piece on shadowing Jason Kelce at the NFL’s broadcasting boot camp explains a lot of what is wrong with sport broadcasting (F the casual viewer): There are additional areas for improvement: Kelce has phrases he uses as crutches and tends to mix in football jargon that casual viewers may not understand.

Kelce's crutches: "effin A", "F that", "that dude effed up." I would think the casual viewer would appreciate that.

I could see Allen getting injured with the way he likes to just run into tackles

I agree.  He needs to be more discerning in terms of when and where to take on that type of punishment.  He's too reckless with his body far too frequently.

Kincaid will be big for them; he's an Ertz/Goedert hybrid.  He won't block anybody but he's got good hands and is good after the catch

Funny thing about football jargon that the casual viewer may not understand... if they are interested in understanding, they can research it... or if they pay attention, he might just explain it to them.  And they might get MORE interested in the sport.  Building up the fanbase through education, rather than gambling addictions... 🤔   Nah, that would never work.

Got some more autographed cards in the mail today, total of $26. The Jordan Davis one is sweet.

The Bills aren't as good as KC or the Bengals, but what people forget about all the Damar Hamlin stuff is he was their 3rd safety lost for an extended part of the season; they'd already lost Hyde and Poyer.  The Eagles had a noticeable dropoff when CGJ missed time.  Missing 3 guys in the middle of the defense will hurt.

I'm not a believer in Sean McDermott, and I think he likely loses his job after this season or next.  They're still better than the Pats, though, and I think they maintain the division over the Jets and Dolphins.  I'd put NYJ second and the Dolphins 3rd at present.

I think McDermott has really been under the radar as a disappointing coach for them.  They seem to respect him as the leader of that team, but his direct technical contributions are nil.

Josh Allen enjoyed fantastic development and progression under Daboll.  Is it any coincidence that things really fell off for him while Daboll was impressing in year 1 with the Giants?  McDermott has been a mere passenger for Allen's development.

And then the Bills defense...under McDermott's leadership as a defensive HC...has been comically abysmal in the playoffs.  Top notch defensive team in the regular season, and then probably wouldn't stop a second string Buddy Ryan offense in the playoffs.

When Daquan Jones couldn't play the Bills could not stop the run against the Bengals. I was surprised that they didn't draft a DT.  It would have to have been Mazi Smith. Instead, they drafted Kincaid, a TE. I understand that's who Dallas wanted, so maybe they did us a favor.

How has Josh Allen "fallen off"?

I'll acknowledge the elephant in the room with the fumbles, but he only lost 2 more in 2022 than 2021. He also did not play well in some clutch moments, which is big.

But he was still 13-3 last year, an improvement over 2021 when they were 11-6.

Completion percentage was the same. Passing yards were 156 less but he played 16 games instead of 17. If that Bengals game plays out he likely has more yards. Passing TD's is one less than 2021. Rushing TD's is one more than 2021. Rushing yards off by one. Again all this while playing less games. He threw 1 less INT than 2021. His Y/A was up. Yards per game was up. Passer rating was up. QBR was up. Even while struggling in clutch moments he still had 3 4QC and 4 GWD's.

He statistically had a better year in 2022 than 2021. This talk that he's still not a top QB or has fallen off is exaggerated.

These are all my jewels so far. Only reason MarJon Beauchamp is there is because he was an actual pull from a pack. The rest, I won on ebay. Just got McKee out of my mailbox 5 minutes ago.

I was very wrong about Hurts, but I also say that just makes him an anomaly.  I wonder if the NFL is going to now think that every athletic, raw QB who is a rough passer can be molded into Jalen Hurts.

There may be some element of truth to that...increased patience and commitment to coaching/teaching passing instead of falling back on tuck-and-run may result in more QB's developing into Hurts and fewer falling through the cracks.  I still think that will prove to be the exception rather than the rule...and expect that lots of teams are going to get burnt with these athletic raw passers.

I couldn’t agree more.  Many teams like to praise their young drafted quarterbacks by saying they have the desire to work to improve, are driven, are the first in/last out…yada yada.  At the end of the day, however, they are all not all truly like that.   It comes down to the individual player’s desire to improve.  And that also is on a sliding scale from individual to individual.. Hurts strikes me as the type of player that it’s not just interested in improving, but obsessed with it.

Hurts has always wanted to prove people wrong. Anthony Richardson is now in the position where he has to prove somebody right for being selected so high.  I don’t think he has the same chip on his the shoulder.  I fully admit to not knowing the guy, so it’s unfair for me to say that. It is an assumption based on my belief that having that level of obsession is a unique trait

Allen was an ultra-elite 107 rated passer in 2020.

He was a god in the playoffs in 2021.

He was neither in 2022.

It's the greatness podium he is falling off of, not the top 10 NFL QB podium.

Same here. It’s funny because it says he doesn’t hold back when it seems like that’s exactly what he’s doing.

I like CJGJ as a player. I'm more happy that he has been replaced by Brown and Ringo, talent and cap-wise.

There is probably more to it in his mind… But for the Eagles, I assume it was basically just money

I think fallen off is an exaggeration. Allen is still a top player but he's getting more reckless IMO

He didn't really seem to say much.  He felt slighted that he was not offered a gigantic contract, but it seems like most teams were on the same page, too.

Howie did a nice job replacing him.  You gotta wonder what goes on behind the scenes with him.  He's talented, but this is now his 3rd team in 2 seasons.  Is he a locker room problem?  If so, it's addition by subtraction.

I think he wanted more $ than the Eagles were prepared to pay and he took it personally.

Allen is fun as hell to watch, still one of my favorite non-Eagles.

I think he was disappointed by the money he got compared to the money he wanted.  I think that he believed he'd be offered more.  And he alluded to not having much happen for 2 weeks, likely because he priced himself well above market value and teams waited for him to come down.

He is a good player. What I perceive is that he thinks he is better than he is. Coaches watched his tape and there wasn't a rush to sign him as a FA. Might be that simple and that he is a bit detached from the reality of how he is valued in the market == butt hurt
