Yea the John Johnson thing doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. There was the report Chargers would jump on him if released and he has been invisible all off-season since getting released. You’d think he would be signed or teams would at least be poking around at him.

I still don’t think Howie would trade anything more than a 6th for a strictly LB. I’m not sure who would even be an upgrade at that cost.

Only thing that makes sense with me about Johnson is he said screw  I’m waiting through  to see if there’s an injury or just doesn’t want to go to minicamp and signs afterward s

I think S is the move for a trade. What’s the best off ball LB Howie has ever traded for? Ernie Sims?

Demeco Ryans had a good year but idk if that was Howie who made the trade. Probable Sims.

Either way the Bears let Morrow walk for so cheap which concerns me. Idk who might be out there. If I could upgrade only one between LB & S it would be LB IMO. Dean is still an unknown at this level and we have some depth at S with some intriguing players.

Ryans is probably the correct answer. I just put the first guy I could even think of.

The Bears had Morrow playing out of position.  He did his best as they’re MLB, but it was bad management to put him in that position.  They went out and got a real MLB and Morrow became excess baggage for them.  Then when GMs looked at Bears game tapes, all they saw was a player trying to be a MLB, but lacking the tools to do so.  The lack of interest was totally understandable.

I'd rather roll with the guys we have at LB.  If they make a trade it has to be for a WR at this point unless you're ready to go all in on Quez and crazy name guy from Atlanta in case we can't go with DeVonta and/or AJ for any number of games.  I'm more than ready to buy into Dean and Morrow/Nolan Smith being used in some packages on the field with Reddick than I am the depth at the WR position as an area of need on this team.

If he played his best at MLB and we brought him here to play WLB that doesn’t make me feel any better.

Could say the same if Dean goes down. That position, specifically off-ball LBers would probably be the worst in the league in that case.

Agreed on WR depth being a concern though. A lot of time between now and week 1.

Yeah but ultimately I think this team's success will live and die more with the WRs than the LBs.

I'd be shocked if they don't sign a LB at some point. Several guys out there right now.  There's literally no competition amongst a weak group to start with

Avante to Goedert.

That said, I think Olamide Zaccheaus can be dynamic in the screen game in this offense and possibly more.  I think he will beat out Quez as the #3 WR.  I just don't know how they can trust Quez anymore in any sort of important moment.

This was such a great clutch run in the NFC Championship Game.  You listen to the crowd and you can hear them gasping thinking he is getting sacked only to break out to get a huge gain for a first down within the 10 yard line but also picking up the penalty out of bounds.

Quez performances in the @Dallas game and in the Super Bowl were it for me.

Hope Zaccheaus impresses enough to be WR3

Or go find one on another roster before Week 1

I don't remember what he did vs Dallas but him fumbling the deep pass that he fell down for no reason after catching in the 4th of the Redskins game was the first big wrongdoing for me in addition to the Super Bowl.  Eagles could have probably gone undefeated if not for that.

Glad you were right on Hurts. Eagles window is wide  open for a title if he stays healthy.

I was an initial skeptic. But he really has a chance to do great things. His accuracy and mechanics in the pocket improved, and he is lethal scrambling.

Think it was a pass that he didn't fight for that led to a game changing INT.

That Skins game was brutal too. Just don't trust him in big moments. Want the WR3 to be reliable. Quez is replaceable.

Zaccheus is 5’8”. Him trying to replace AJ or DeVonta if one of them go down for a few games isn’t happening. They need an outside WR with some size who can step in if one of them go down. And no, I don’t mean Tyrie Cleveland, Joseph Ngada, or Jadon Haselwood.

Corey Davis seems like someone on the roster fringe in NY.

Think a minimal trade could get him here in the Zach Paschal role.

Who exactly was McCaffrey passing to?

Epps stunk, and he and Blankenship were a frighteningly inept duo when paired together on the back end.  If Blankenship as an UDFA is better than Edmunds, who was a first round draft pick — that’s some league-wide faulty evaluation.

Epps didn’t stink.  He just wasn’t very exciting and missed sometimes.  Decent football IQ.  Blakenship shows raw instinct talent.  Those allow him to do better than his athleticism suggests.  Both are pretty JAGish.  Edmunds really failed to live up to the suggested promise he was drafted for.  Happens quite a lot with secondary players in the draft.  That’s why Howie got him on a cheap, one year prove it contract.  Note that of CJGJ, Edmunds, Evans and Epps, only Epps got a multi year deal.

It wasn’t that he played "his best” at MLB.  That was simply where the Bears chose to play him.  Have you looked at the videos of him playing this past season?  Based on those videos do you assess him as a MLB or a WIL?

Like I said…he’s obsessed with improving himself

Would have been a shorter post if you had just listed the good moves since 2013.

Drafted Embiid.
Drafted Maxey.

I am open to hear nominations for others.

Drafting Embiid was pretty much telegraphed to them.
