I seem to recall Barnett having more penalties than sacks in his career (I could be mistaken). Combine that, with how he is a dirty player, and he's easily the most hateable Eagle player I've had in a long while. Graham was always likeable, not dirty, and generally not a net negative to the team like Barnett has been.

In short....F Derek Barnett, I hope he retires tomorrow.

How is Barnett a dirty player? Just for the number of penalties? Hasn‘t lived up to the pick but I fail to see why you would hate him.

Imagine he was a third round pick, he‘d probably be a celebrated SB hero now. 😄

Not beating this!:

image.thumb.png.84ad8c0afd0f361e38a58544a71812b2.png

-Banks at CB2

-Nolan Smith rotates with Reddick

-Carter has great potential

-Downs may be the best slot in the draft

-Brown overshadowed by Witherspoon, but a great secondary piece for Illinois

-They have Brooks listed as EDGE, but he's a 3T. Would pair well with Davis and rotate with Milton

-Zavala is a mean dude, would compete for RG

-McBride is a bell cow

-Time to start grooming a QB2

-Saldiveri compete for swing T

Alas, not suckering anyone into that trade.

So if we hire him then we'll be doing cover 2, 3, and/or 4. Lol I laughed at how the article said if you thought Gannon didn't blitz much then Desai would make it seem like Gannon was Jim Johnson

Yeah - it sounds like bringing in Desai allows them to keep a lot of the defensive scheme the same.  I have no problem not blitzing if the team does better taking away the passing game in zone coverages.  If he does run a lot of Cover-2, let's hope they look to upgrade the MLB position.

I'm curious if that's what's taking so long to get someone. They don't want to change the scheme or maybe even have the DC keep all of the position coaches

Jalen Carter just to keep the Jalen run this team has had throughout the years alive.

2024 Eagles except with Jalen

7 out of 12 Howie's.  Jahmyr Gibbs in the 2nd round seems like a miss. I mean if the team wants a RB that will try to dance around and bounce everything outside, why not keep Sanders? Also, Gibbs seems like a reach at 33.  I think there's better OT prospects that could be there.   I like Porter.  He's physical I think he could replace Bradberry fairly well but will have a learning curve.  I like Mazi Smith. He would be good at 30.

Let's say

3 QB's

1 DT (Carter)

2 DE (Anderson & Wilson)

2 OT (Skowronski & Johnson)

1 CB (Witherspoon)

I'm not sure about CB Gonzalez yet, but he could sneak into the top 10 if he blows up the combine. I'd trade back if it falls this way. Getting the 4th QB to go to 9 would be great, unless he's still there and we get a nice trade offer which would be pretty good too.

Im wondering if there might be more than 3 QBs, just looking at the top 10:

Bears:  might move out of top 10 and let someone swoop in for a QB

Houston: QB

Arizona: Gannon so they might go defense

Colts: QB

Seahawks: would it stun you if they went QB?  Could go either way IMO.

Lions: defense or OL

Vegas: QB

Falcons: stick with Ridder and go defense or maybe they fall in love with a QB

Panthers: QB

Now of course things may change as the draft plays out but that's at least 4 teams ahead of us who absolutely must have a QB.

Yeah, Howie will just extend Edwards, watch.

Whatever money may have allocated to Edwards, and/or White should all go to Bobby Wagner. He can still play. When he slows down, he will be just as slow as Edwards, but still fairly effective.

I would bet that's part of it but I am sure they are open to having the DC bring in some coaches.  I mean the team needs a new LB coach.

Desai vs Wilson. Thinking they may go Desai, so they can still keep Wilson and end up having both.

He's been extremely undisciplned that's for sure but I wouldn't call him a dirty player by any means.  I never didn't like BG the guy, but I wasn't a big fan of BG the player his first 5-6 years.

How quickly we forget:

And here’s a whole article on him:

https://www.crossingbroad.com/2021/09/wednesday-mount-rushmore-dope-derek-barnett-penalties.html?amp

He also head butted Dillard in the pre season this year, as Dillard was just coming back from a concussion, and Barnett had specifically been told by Sirianni not to do anything stupid in practice.

If he played for another team you’d bash him endlessly. F Derek Barnett, he sucks, he’s a dirty player and I wish he was off the team

I think the Bears will probably take Will Anderson and if they trade down maybe take Jalen Carter. I don't see them moving farther down than the Panthers' pick.  I imagine the Colts, Vegas and Panthers will consider moving ahead of Houston.  I am sure Arizona will take Will Anderson or Jalen Carter.  The Seahawks are not going to be predictable.  They haven't reached an agreement with Geno yet.  Geno is in his 30s and a younger QB should be on their radar.  I tend to think they may go defense but who knows.

Because Sanders a) still isn‘t anywhere close to the catching ability of Gibbs and b) will probably want too much money.

But agree that Gibbs might be a bit of a reach at 33.

FWIW

Christian Gonzalez is still 20 and won't be 21 until late June.  Witherspoon is 22 and almost 3 months

Also what does everyone think of Eli Ricks?  His name hasn't been mentioned much in here but think he has a lot of talent

Gonzalez is also CB1.

Depends what you’re looking for , Witherspoon better in man coverage . They are both good CBs though , it’s preference

personally my favorite CBs  are

Banks

Forbes

Smith

Rush

He's a cannabinoid receptor??   @TorontoEagle now has him #1 on his draft board.

RB is being devalued too much in my opinion. Gibbs at 33 is now way too high?  We are a running team. Having this line blocking for mediocrity doesn’t suit us.

To your point with this line we don't need a high draft pick to get production

ummmm. This is some decision.

I agree. Having another offensive weapon that the opponent has to game plan for is a huge asset. I am not advocating drafting him, but, if the HC and OC could create a balanced distribution of the ball, imagine the "we have to worry about Hurts, Robinson, Goedert, Smith, Brown," conversations. FB is about overwhelming the resources of the other team and a mediocre back doesn't help with this equation. Add in a high quality slot receiver and its a a super tough matchup.
