Based off OTC it’s 22 mil dead money but they save roughly $3.7 mil against the cap

This is why a trade doesn't make sense to me. They aren't going to get someone as good accounting for less than $3M cap hit. So you'd just be adding onto the cap while not adding to the on field contribution.

I used to get attacked so hard for just saying he needs to stop being Houdini.

Either way, it’s crazy how bad he plummeted in 2020. Maybe that hit from Clowney did something because I thought he was pretty solid in 2019 especially considering that his #1 WR was Greg Ward.

Wentz has played for two crappy organizations since leaving.  Matt Ryan illustrated what happened in 2021 to the Colts was not a Wentz issue.  He was objectively not good in Washington -- but that's every QB in Washington.

Wentz has 3 choices:

1)  Retire.  He's got a wife and family, likes the outdoors, and has enough money to go away happily

2)  Go to another crappy team as a backup and try to compete to start on crappy team.  That would be more of the same last two seasons

3)  Chad Henne retired; go play backup on a team like Kansas City, like Foles did.  If I were him, that would be my choice.

It only makes sense if its purely a cap move and trying to recoup some draft capital OR its a cap move and they know they are going all in on drafting a top CB, IMO.

I disagree. The result was bad but the idea was correct. Had he provided stable QB play we'd have a QB averaging only $30M a year and still under contract.

Wrong word choice. Point was in hindsight it was bad to give him the contract

If it's purely a cap move it makes more sense to restructure. If they can get good draft capital, ok, but for a team that just was in the SB I'm not sure it makes sense to start trying to retool.

Gimme Jamel Dean if they're going this route. Bradberry and his holding can go.

Dean will get 16 , 17 maybe even 18 million per year

I'd rather Tremaine Edmunds or David Long. Unless you stick Dean in there and sign Lavonte David for the weak side. There's a few other free agents I'd look at too.

Bobby Okereke ; Azeez Al-Shaair; Germaine Pratt, Vander Esch

There are some good ones.  I suspect Wagner will be fairly cheap considering his age.

I don’t think Slay is going anywhere. Dealing him more than likely brings the morale of that locker room down. This isn’t Madden, these players aren’t just dollars and cents. There’s a human element I think we often forget when discussing potential player moves.

Yep, he is a Captain on Defense. The other two captains are FA's and one or both are likely not coming back. With how many holes there already are on D, it just doesn't make much sense to f'ing gut those guys more.

Normally I’d laugh at Jakib sports and someone there saying it. But d Gunn is usually more reliable with his reporting

I've been suggesting this for some time.

When a cap hit is $26 million and you're on the wrong side of 32...dollars and cents mean a lot more to the Eagles than locker room.

Maybe the money saved goes towards bringing back Bradberry and you still draft a CB in round 1.  You get younger at both positions and keep a top corner.

Just checking in, Any movement on the coordinators?

Bradberry is only 2 years younger and has said he not only wants to be paid, he want's multiple years. So you are going to just be in the same situation a year or two from now that they currently are in with Slay. Unless you can get a great trade package, it's just making unnecessary moves that doesn't really help you get better while adding more money to the cap.

Desai had an interview in Philly today. Nothing else that I saw.

That's fine , he's worthy

The Georgia co-d coordinator is out of the running and returning to Georgia.

Gibbs is much more dynamic than Sanders. He’s a legitimate weapon in the passing game split in the slot, and can give you that Faulk/Westbrook/CMC dimension.

We need a bruising powerback that weighs at least 240 lbs.

His collapse has been hard to watch. He'll always have the backup role on teams but I think his time as a starter is done

His career is about the same as Blake Bortles.  At least Bortles has the excuse that he wasn't ever that good as a QB.  Wentz's problem is in his head.

I still don't think it would happen, but if it did, I still wouldn't bring back Bradberry. Get younger there. I'm actually surprised at the amount of fans that want Bradberry back. I would much rather go after Dean for a few mil more per year.
Dean and Witherspoon is pretty damn good. Even if you traded back a bit and went for the next best CB. You completely reset at corner with younger players.

New candidate @ToastJenkins is a dark horse to get it.  There are concerns he may be too mean, however, and hurt players' feelings.

Ah yeah, I forgot about him. I don't even remember hearing his name before today.

I remember you busting it open over Wentz more enthusiastically than a lot of the forum. For him to have lost you, that's tough.

I could see his incredible physical talents and I still believe he is a good man.  So I like to root for those types of players.

But when he walked away and just gave up on the team because his feelings were hurt, that told me all I needed to know about him and it was good riddance for me.

It's sad that his injury was the beginning of the end but it didnt have to be, his ego has prevented him from improving basically at all.  The idolization of Brett Favre should have been a huge red flag.
