Losing CJGJ, Seumalo, Bradberry AND Hargrave would likely give us 2 3rds and 2 4ths + completely free up our cap for 2024 and beyond. It would suck for 2023, but will make us more competitive in the 2024-2026 window. Seumalo/Bradberry/Hargrave are too old for us to invest in. CJGJ or bust.

I think people overrate the compensatory picks. They're at the bottom of each round and there's no guarantee you hit on those picks. And even if you did "hit" on those picks, hitting on 3rd and 4th rounders typically means quality rotational players. Not all pros. I'm fine with them letting several guys go, but I'm telling you letting Hargrave go would be a major mistake. And will have a trickle down effect on the pass rush.

And in no way should they accept a total fall from grace in 2023 to set up the future. There needs to be a balance. Windows can close quickly. They need to do everything they can to win in 2023 while also keeping the door open for the future.

Howie needs to be careful not to overcorrect from 2018 and let everyone go. Keep some, and let some go. Balance. This organization's biggest flaw with personnel has been overcorrections.

Hurts better get that contract soon because if Jones gets 40, Hurts is worth 60.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

A lot of his reasoning seems to be based around Howies comments about not being able to make a reasonable offer to some higher priced guys and how they plan to receive high comp picks. I think we could still re-sign someone like Hargrave or CJGJ but it's going to take either them taking a discount or not having a strong market that brings their expectations down.

CJGJ is about as high of a priority re-signing that I can remember since I’ve been a fan

I just hope Howie actually means it when he says he cant be overly sentimental. I just have this feeling he's going to say that out loud and then let Hargrave walk just to re-sign Cox.

Imagine that scenario + Brian Johnson getting a HC job.

Eagles would have the following in 2024

1st round

2 2nd round

5 3rd round

4th

2 5th round

6th

The more mid-round picks you have, the more ammo you have to move up and down the draft freely.  Right now, the Eagles hands are tied after the 3rd.  They have nothing to trade to get those key rotational players.

If they can get a few comp picks next year, it will only help.

You're right that there's no guarantee anyone hits on those picks, but I'll take my chances with those comp picks + 70M in cap space against 30 year old Bradberry, Hargrave and Seumalo. Looking at it another way, you can use that money to extend Devonta next year. We can sign another version of Bradberry in May.

CJGJ is different as his age means he's in his prime for a while. Bradberry, Hargrave and Seumalo will all be overpaid in free agency.

The Chiefs "punted" on 2022 and won the SB. We don't have to spend a ton of money in free agency to be SB contenders as long as our offense is good.

Depending on the deal Cox gets, it might be smart.  I'd rather Cox back on a team friendly 1-year deal instead of locking in to an aging Hargrave for multiple years at a top contract.

There are going to be a lot of veterans available. Eagles will be smart to wait until then.

Really? I don't see it that way. I think he's a good to great player whose young but shouldn't be the top paid safety. He also still has the knucklehead side to him that could show up at some point, especially if the D struggles next year with so much being different.

Without putting all high end FA and Draft guys who do you realistically replace these 5 with at a lower cost?

Edwards
Chauncey
Seumalo
Bradberry
Hargrave

You're right.  Ignore that scenario then.

It would be 1 in 2024 and 1 in 2025.

I'd love to have tons of compensatory picks generally speaking, but at what cost? They will still get a bunch of them if they keep a couple of their key guys. Seumalo, Bradberry, Edwards, etc could all bring them quality picks. That's why I'm talking about balance. Keep key guys, while also getting some compensatory picks on top of it. Don't overcommit to one side

Maybe you disagree, but I think Hargrave will age well. And I'm less concerned about money as I am the years. I think Hargrave could get a 4 year deal with a team option after year 3. I think that's perfectly reasonable and I think he'd stay very productive through the length of that contract. Maybe a slight drop off after year 2, but still plenty good.

I mean, maybe Howie lets him go and Jalen Carter falls to 10 or something, but I think SB is off the table if you go into the season with Jordan Davis and Milton Williams as your DTs. Refer to 2021 on what a defense looks like when it can't generate pressure.

Love everything about the kid. Has heart, spunk, and will get right in your face. Makes plays and actually tackles. My favorite defensive player.

It works different for coaches since there is no formula to potentially cancel and the hiring's are done before the comp picks are announced and before the draft. San Francisco got a comp pick last year for losing Mike McDaneil who was hired 2/6/22.

Curious to see what happens this year. They should be getting 1 for McDaneil,1 for Ryans and 1 for the guy the Titans hired as GM. They are project to have picks 99, 100 and 101 because of it. And they just had 2 because of Saleh in 2021 and 2022.

My prediction of player that gets drafted by the Cowboys who I loved watching is Darnell Washington.  I can see them letting Dalton Schutlz walk and taking him in the 1st.

Imagine franchise tagging a RB in 2023. SOme teams will never learn.

Ew.

Yes, sir.

No more Ringo in RD1 talk.

The Dolphins should be the team trading for Aaron Rodgers IMO. That offense is ready to win now.

Gonzalez is gonna light it up today, make a strong case for CB1.
