Get ready for the new chat feature @VaBeach_Eagle is setting up for next season

If its going to be anything like it was on the old boards, its going to be a disaster and I will 100% be contributing to it.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

He was a beast in the beginning of the season but kind of fizzled out near the end

Cap savings if traded?

We’re very likely to just not do anything. He’s a FA after this year, and it’s only 4m$ savings to trade him before the draft. We could trade him after June 1st for 17m$ savings, but what are we gonna get then (maybe another disgruntled player?) or an extension would be 13m$ in Savings, which seems unlikely due to his age.

What a roller coaster of emotions this morning. Chuck fletcher gets canned. Then the slay news where he can seek a trade and now Andrew Painter has a tear of his ucl.

$3mm before June 1st, and about $17mm post June 1st. They will take additional cap hit over the next couple years in either scenario.

Oh wow, hadn't seen any of this.  I figured the worst for Painter since they didn't say a word for over a week.  Fletcher gone is incredible.  I called the Slay trade a long while back.

I've been mentioning the Eagles should trade Slay for awhile now. He has the largest cap hit of any CB for 2023 and he's 32. On top of all that, Slay has next to zero trade value after this season. This is the offseason to take the hit and try to get something for him.

Ahh. It makes sense now.

Feels like this is more Eagles calling Slays bluff than wanting to actually trade him.

So mcphearson and jobe starting corners at the moment if slay and bradberry are gone. Along side Blankenship and Wallace at safety lol.

You did, props there. I didn't think the Eagles would do it due to his leadership role. But this could be a negotiating tactic and he just comes back too.

Not in a pre-June 1st trade or release

I think he would be fine with a trade after June 1st if it he gets to a team that will give him a new deal.

Ahhhh, yup. My thought was a potential negotiation tactic. I can't give Slay a new deal unless it helps out cap.

But what are we getting back if it’s after the draft? He’s still a valuable asset

I figured that when the news came out and he was on the last year of his contract. He’s 32 and wants an extension knowing it’s his last contract where he’s gonna get decent coin. I’m guessing he’s not going to love what he hears around the league cause i doubt many are giving him a big contract when it kicks in and he’s 33

And then bring Bradberry back at 14/yr and draft Gonzalez at 10

So IF Slay is traded, do they look to bring Bradberry back or are they going the young, inexpensive direction?

Yup, I thought this past season was going to be his last. Better to cut bait a year too early than a year too late. Great first half of the year but it felt like he was slipping the last half.

This will solidify corner being the pick at 10.

The best sign of the long-term health of this franchise is Howie not falling in love with his guys. He learned from 2017/2018.

That's right. I guess its not correct to say they would take additional cap hit, because the cap hit won't change, just how the hit is spread out.

Tbh there’s some solid young corners in free agency if they can clear enough cap room to sign one of them. Dean, Jonathan jones, Emmanuel Moseley, Byron Murphy, cam sutton, rock ya sin and Sean bunting

BOOM! (she knows Jalen and is a Panthers beat reporter)
