We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

He went 30th. It would have been a massive reach to take him at 15. I did like Karflatis if we trade down.

Would you rather have given up 4 picks to move up 2 spots to get Davis or maybe get an extra 2nd or who knows what else to trade down for Karlaftis?  I take trading down 10 out of 10 times.

Just a general question, not a snarky remark to the reach comment.

In first half of seasons

Everyone says he was worse in the second half of the year but I am not sure what that is based on given his play.  There were only 2 games in the 2nd half of the season where the Eagles gave up more than 200 yards passing.  One was the game against Dallas where it looked like he was beat on the 3rd and 30 but it was really Scott's fault.  The other game was the one against the Packers and that was mostly the garbage time TD that was on Wallace or Blankenship.  McLaurin had a big game but most of that was against zone coverage.  Slay did give up one 41 yard completion to McLaurin but he had decent coverage and McLaurin only had a step on him. So I don't think Slay really had a bad 2nd half.  He gave up one long completion against a very good receiver.  He didn't play poorly in any game.

Suck it, Gannon.

Seems like there are a few players out there recruiting

Slay and #30 for AJ Terrell. Lets go.

Really, the only upside I see is maybe a 4th or 5th round pick we get back that we’ll probably blow on some crappy LB. I get the cap savings aspect, but if you get rid of slay and bank on a rookie and what we have, we risk going from the best CB duo in the league to one of the worst

Chiefs started two rookie corners

Thank you for the thoughtful answer.  Regarding your last sentence, that is always a risk when "changing the guard” at any position.  We are going to be experiencing some of that regardless because of the loss of Bradberry.  Some in here believe we did not have the best CB duo in the second half of the season … largely because of a decline in the quality of Slay’s on field performance.  So the question is (a) how bad is the downside risk in o field performance and (b) how good will the on field performance be in 2024 with 17 games of experience?

So here’s a question for everyone.  If Fletcher Cox could be signed for 1 year and UP TO $6M, would you do it?

6 million would be a nice purse

@TEW has mentioned this before.  One may argue it's a flawed, nihilistic approach...but if great offenses can't be stopped, then build a great offense, go cheap on D, and build an opportunistic D.

If they can't stop a great QB when it counts (and there's almost no way our D will be able to do that next year), then they might as well be able to take the ball away in a huge spot.  (See our SB championship).

That's as much schematic, if not more so, than personnel.  Amazing offense and a high turnover defense.  I'm less and less into the "eliminate the big play" philosophy.  It's certain death by a 1,000 paper cuts and it keeps our elite offense off the field.  Hit the QB, intercept the football, or get our offense back on the field after a quick score.

I'm not saying I 100% buy into this, but in the decisive moments against great QB's this year and last, it felt like it would be an improvement.

At least it was/is a strategy DIFFERENT from what was NOT working.

WTF was he thinking with the Strong Women Power suit look?

Not a terrible idea. Assuming Terrell will come with an extension of 20/year avg though. I’m so lost on where we’re at with the cap.

Slay and 10 for 8 and a 4th.

How would you stop this team with Brown, Smith, Goedert, and Pitts? Lol

They would never do it. He's one of the best young corners out there and is still cheap this year with a 5th year option next year.

By blitzing the qb

Had a feeling that might be a response. All joking aside I hope Nick and Johnson work with Hurts on that

Wonder if Howie used that for some cap space considering Graham’s dead money. Is this an extension?

This is just a guess, but if Graham moved on the Dead Cap hit was $18.3 million.  If the "up to $6 million” replaces the $1.5 million base salary in OTC then the 2023 Cap hit drops to $14.2 million and $8.2 million of that is the elimination of the 2023 Void Year prorated bonus hit.

You must have a different meaning of "wash.”  A "wash” in sports is a tie. In betting it is a "push”.  His use of "wash” is a season of modest expectations.  You appear to be thinking "wash” is the same as "wash out.”

Being a season of modest expectations on Defense doesn’t affect the expectations on Offense.  And the expectations for the team are the combination of the two.

It would take more than #30 and they wouldn’t be interested in Slay. Would you do #30 and one of our 2nds next year?

What is really going on here with Slay? Forced restructure?

There is a slam dunk strategy, and it's the sign your 24 year old All Pro MVP runner up QB who just had an all time great Super Bowl performance to a new deal.

What are you smoking?

It isn’t a slam dunk if he breaks his leg or tears an ACL and gets to play as many games on his second contract as Wentz did.  There is no slam dunk in football.  There always is injury risk.
