Niners make a lot of sense as they need corner help. I just don’t know their current cap situation. I could also see a team like chiefs and bengals depending on contract structure.

Niners have decent open space currently even after Hargrave, and have other options to open up more. He's definitely in play there from a cap perspective.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

Yeah, it makes a lot of sense because they also need a corner. And I think their window is right now. And you don’t know what Trey Lance is. So you better have that team stacked to make up for it if he’s not as good as you think, I would’ve said the Lions because he did well playing in Detroit. And they are very close to being contenders. But the fact they made the moves they did kind of feels like it takes them out of the running for a Darius slay.

Will Slay be back tomorrow on a 1yr deal that seems richer than expected...

I like it.  Said it when he was released the Eagles should try to being him back as a backup.  Jalen won't be looking over his back over the presence of Wentz and at this stage of his career I think Wentz realizes what his role would be.

This only affirms for me how moronic it is

I should know this but I dont.  How often would Slay follow the opposing teams #1?

For some reason I thought Gannon preferred to keep them on either side and not follow around WRs.  But I also thought there were a few games Slay followed WRs around.

Edit: I also wonder if Desai does that a lot

I know he did with Jefferson this past season.  I think there was one more instance this year as well but can't remember which game that was.

Prefer that over fletcher cox

You know what would be a coup? Marcus peters on a short term prove it deal if he doesn’t get a desired FA contract

Does coup mean terrible?  Because Peters is all ball hawk and no coverage.

Slay didn't travel much at all, although he was memorably on Bradberry's side for the 3rd and 30 against the Turds where he (for some reason) thought Josiah Scott was capable of breaking up a deep pass, so he watched Hilton run right past him.

That's what I thought, thanks.

Im assuming Desai also mostly keeps his guys in place since he likes mixing coverages and showing false coverages.

He is going to be a high end backup QB in this league.  You can't do much better at that spot.

The good news is, both Gonzalez and Witherspoon travel very well, based on their college tape.

Now .... to convince Howie to draft a CB high .....

I think Slay's 2nd half is more coincidence and circumstance than anything, but you can't rule out physical decline. Who knows. They'll definitely miss him next season though. Gonzalez or Witherspoon would look great in green.

I'd much much much rather keep Minshew. Carson is soft in the head and hard on the wallet.

Your inability to grasp human behavior is so bad its impressive

Beast? @Original Sin

Could be a domino for CJGJ to re-sign.

it seems so obvious…

Bradberry

Slay

Both played well last year, but Bradberry was targeted more and had better stats. I don't expect Bradberry to fall off a cliff, and Desai is pretty good with DBs. If they could only keep one of Slay/Bradberry, I think they made the right call here.

If the eagles are able to re-sign CJGJ and draft either Witherspoon or Gonzáles at 10 then I’d be pretty happy with the secondary going forward. Now you’re gonna need to replace Bradbury in two years. But it gives you time. Plus then sitting at 30 I can potentially move up if there’s a defensive tackle that falls within that range. Like the kid from Pitt however i don’t think he does.

I don't think he's going to be that expensive.

Wentz lacking leadership intangibles is a big issue of he's your starting QB but doesn't mean much at all when he's the backup QB.  He will be allowed to keep to himself as he wants while making himself available when need be if need be should he need to step in for Hurts.

Before anybody says no way they do that. The Eagles signed Joe Flacco as a backup. I wouldn’t  be so sure that the Eagles don’t kick the tires on Matt Ryan if he is willing to be a back up quarterback. He is getting released.

I don't want Wentz back with the Eagles. I've moved on and don't want him as a backup

I really think itd be smart to double dip with a Gonzalez/Witherspoon pick at 10, and then someone with inside/outside versatility before the end of the 3rd round. I love Clark Phillips if we just  needed a nickel, but I worry about him on the outside in the NFL.  I think someone like Cam Smith makes a ton of sense.
