In the latest BGN pod, Kempski said what a lot of other reports have said about CJGJ. The Eagles pivoted and when they signed Slay and Bradberry they could no longer afford CJGJ.

...but then later in the pod was asked to make a prediction about what safety the Eagles sign and he said Taylor Rapp.

Now, if Rapp gets like 2 million that would be one thing. But if he gets the going rate of other safeties(somewhere in the 5-7 million range) then them not being able to afford CJGJ was nonsense. You can't claim that and then go out and sign another safety for a price in the same ball park.

This is the only message board I’ve ever seen that has anonymous mods. And now you’re saying in effect that the two "active” mods have complete free reign of this place? I find it hard to believe they couldn’t afford him. They probably didn’t want to allocate that money and wanted to use it elsewhere but if they thought he was special they’d have jumped at it.  They’ll probably pay someone at least 4 and if they don’t then they are flirting with disaster

Maybe that doesn’t move Howie to dramatically increase what he’s willing to pay for safety. It’s not 2016 with a rookie QB on the way, so he can’t pay big money for Jenkins/McLeod. You have to cut corners somewhere, and we know Howie’s history. 

None of Epps, CJGJ nor Ghost played much Man.  But a healthy Maddox played a lot of MEG on whichever player came through his zone area.  And Slay played a lot of MOD.  Bradberry plays a lot of Man Match in Zone with assistance from the S, usually Epps. I like the idea that Desai may be playing some of Saban’s Man Match Cover 8.

I'm guessing it's more "We can technically afford him, but it would jam us up and we don't think he's special enough to be jammed up" rather than literally not being able to afford him.

Eagles had the best Dline in the league last year, with Slay/Bradbury and still couldn’t force Mahomes to throw an incompletion in the second half of the SB.  That’s the sort of thing that can leave a mark on Howie.

White I would be interested in at 30. Not sure he makes it there. There's literally no defensive lineman I would want at 10 this year, besides Carter if he slides and assuming Wilson & Anderson are gone. Feels too early for Kancey and White due to his age.

Yup I'm in the same boat except I wouldn't take Carter at 10 too big a risk for me, though I'd guess Davis and Dean have vouched for him to Howie?
