Milton had 4 sacks/400 snaps vs. Fletch’s 7 sacks/700 snaps… might be able to scale up, but we’ll need more quality snaps from somebody… and that’s assuming we don’t lose another 700 snaps with Hargrave.

Riiight.

We’ll definitely be drafting a guy in the top half of the draft. Hargrave is going to be the most difficult decision because he’s going to command big money and is also our most important pass rusher.

The more i watch Devon Witherspoon (Illinois corner) the more and more I really like the kid. I could see him being there at 10 or even somehow moving up into the top 10 before the draft. I still like porter’s length and frame better if we go corner that high. But i do find myself likely Witherspoon more and more

Witherspoon would be a good Day One pickup after some trade downs.  I would also be happy with a Day Three selection of Julius Brents from Kansas State.  An injury risk CB who might fall all the way out of the Draft is Noah Daniels. If Howie can add him as well that would be a coup.

Defenses generally get crappier once Joseph gets put in charge.  I'd rather see Dennard Wilson get promoted; he's already quite familiar

And if those two are gone in a year or two who are the coaches likely to be next up?

Either the next coaches they've groomed or a rising talent from another program. What is the point of the question? There is player and coach attrition in the NFL every year. It is part of the game. Keep the head coach and QB if they warrant it and deal with the rest situationally.

I expected him to say Epps, tbh

I honestly don't get why people are sleeping on Blankenship. I personally think he was absolutely everywhere when he played, hits like a safety that looked up to the early 2000 age of hitters, and is also decent in coverage. I think he's way better than Epps, and he was a UDFA rookie - meaning he has a good bit of room to polish.

To me, I feel like the only thing from the true safety spot that CJGJ does better than Reed is catching the football and play on some tight ends. He doesn't wrap up enough sometimes either, and that can cause some huge problems. He also sells out for interceptions at times.

Now, at the same time...I think Gardner-Johnson however, is probably the best slot defender in the league secretly. During that period where Maddox wasn't healthy, but Gardner-Johnson was, they played him as the nickel. And he was ridiculously good. Mind-boggingly good even, which is accurate to how he was in New Orleans too.

I get why people are so interested in Gardner-Johnson, but I think it's really important to look beyond just the interceptions. I think Blankenship can be a starting safety in this league if given the opportunity in the right scheme, as well as some time to develop more. Don't forget how good he is in run support either. Blankenship is so far and beyond the best S we have against the run that towards the Super Bowl I was secretly hoping Maddox couldn't go, so Gardner-Johnson would slide down to the slot. I don't think there was any way Pacheco was getting that kind of yardage per carry if Blankenship was the safety, and Gardner-Johnson would have been just as good from the slot.

Even the players like him. Tra Thomas said on a podcast even DAWK approved of the guy after seeing him play a bit. Like man. lol

This is just sour grapes. If its legal, every team can do it. If every other team tries it and is not as successful as us, we are just better at it. That doesnt mean its unfair, and shouldnt mean it needs to be outlawed.

Just because Philly is better at something I guess the league has to take it away. Philly can never be good at something. If it benefits Philly, we cant have that in pro sports.

Teams watched the Eagles do this all season long, saw them convert it at like a 90% clip, and still decided to run plays out of shotgun and get stuffed 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage. That’s on them. The only reason people are making a big deal of it now is because they saw it on a big stage in the Super Bowl being successful. Hurts is probably the only quarterback in the league who has the leg drive of a running back. There’s a reason why the Steelers weren’t lining up Kenny Pickett in that formation. If you have a problem with it, then find a quarterback who can squat 600 lbs, put together a dominant offensive line, and run it yourself.

That is clearly the case.  No surprise either.

Eagles were incredibly successful on sneaks with Wentz as well. I wonder if they had 2 pushers in the backfield on those ones as well, or not.

I'm not surprised about TJ. He's a Howie undrafted find. It will be a massive overpay mistake and LB will continue to suffer.

I like Dean and a White personally. White will be Cheap enough to extend a couple of seasons. TJ will get us a 3rd rounder next season. Dean’s instincts/first step is crazy.

I like TJ better but if he gets pricey I am more than fine with them keeping White instead. Dean is a stud and just needs to get an opportunity and he certainly will. Some of what they do could also depend on whether they like Dean better as Will or Mike.

No homaging. Just legitimate confusion.  I didn’t know who it was either, and I’m a Leo non-chick.

I hope Edwards is gone. He sucks. Would rather bring back White and let Dean have a crack at MLB

I’m ready to let both go and roll with Dean and Christian Elliss.  If possible I’d love to see us draft Jack Campbell of Iowa and/or Nick Herbig of Wisconsin

He doesn’t know anything. He was saying Sanders would be re-signed last year.

I’m shocked he didn’t give you a band you’ve never heard of and a stat that taken out of context while suggesting it

The point of the question was to hear names.

Herbig would be a nice player in the Reddick role… he actually has some OK LB instincts so not completely lost in coverage. Overall, not a great LB draft for the off the ball types (I’d prefer to draft a WIL and have Dean play the MIKE with a FA stopgap like White, but only seems like a handful of LB prospects are competent in coverage).

You need a pipeline when you hire young, bright coaches.  For Steichen and Gannon the pipeline was Brian Johnson and Dennard Wilson, apparently.  That’s not to say Wilson will get the DC job; it’s a bit unnerving to think of two rookie coordinators running the offense and defense.  There would be an advantage to bringing in an experienced DC who Sirianni wouldn’t need to ‘babysit’, so to speak.

Just not Vance Joseph, please.  His coaching record inspires zero confidence.  Almost every stop he’s made, the defenses have gotten worse.  The names I mentioned for DC before were Mike Zimmer and Kris Richard.  Jim Leonhard would be my choice for DB coach if Wilson is promoted to DC.
