We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

A combination of not wanting to think about football for a few days plus being absolutely underwater with work and a toddler has me a bit behind.  I saw some comments about Howie leaving Gannon in Arizona but didn't get a chance to process it yet.

While I get the lulz "Lol, Gannon sucks so bad Howie left him behind!1", is the general consensus that the FO was acting as a barrier to prevent distraction until after the game?  I.E. they told other organizations they would make their folks available once the game was over and to work with them to schedule?

Why would he make a lateral move and go to a dumpster fire franchise?

He's not getting HC consideration being under Reid and having Mahomes as his QB. It won't happen until he can prove that he's not just a product of his environment.

He’ll call the plays and basically be the HC of the offense.

I just don't think it's going to work out for him like he thinks it might.  That's normally where coaches go to die

Being under the shadow of Reid seems to be woeking against him.  Plus that franchise is about to be bought so there will be new ownership.  That said, there is risk in that that the new ownership will clean house.

Not sure if has been talked about but what about Jim Leonhard as possible DC?  His defenses at Wisconsin (which isn't being flooded with 5 star recruits) always seemed to have a defense ranked in the top 5-20 the past 5-7 years

Didn't they run the same "rugby scrum" play with Minshew against the Saints and they were short? I think it was twice, one may have been a traditional sneak but I believe they did the rugby play at least once with Minshew. I know its a very small sample size, but not every qb can do it.

They could probably still run the play if you can't have players pushing the ball carrier from behind. Just have the two backs push the OL instead of the ball carrier. Move the pile, the ball carrier follows.

Just found out that Michael Clay is returning as ST coordinator. Not surprising, and somewhat disappointing.

Yea, I am starting to question if Nick is going to be another one that’s too loyal to his guys.

Yeah, we ran the same "unstoppable" play with Minshew and got stonewalled.

How do we feel about covey? I thought his returns got better by end of year, and he was extremely sure handed. I don’t think he has the big play potential (like Toney). We could probably upgrade him, but he’s cheap and reliable

Found it. It should start at 10:15

That’s what they are going with. I find it hard to believe since there was a lot of smoke all weekend and by Sunday morning everyone else knew about it.

Waste of a roster spot. If you can’t contribute at all on offense you better be stellar on ST’s and he isn’t. Find a new UDFA guy that can do better.

After watching the second half of the Super Bowl, Roseman and Lurie called the Cardinals and reached a verbal deal for them to hire Gannon.  Howie then told Gannon on the tarmac before boarding the flight back "No, Jonathan.  You're not coming back with us"

Maybe he’ll have a Hurts level jump! First time having the same ST co-ordinator

Worry about that when you get there.

I prefer having a vision for where you want to be … and a plan for getting there.

If I was going to spend a 7th round pick on ST, it would be for a punter not a return specialist.

Did anyone even like Angelo Cataldi?

I’m in no way suggesting using a draft pick on a returner.

There is a way to stop it. Don’t allow yourself to get in 4th and half a yard to go

To me the league will be making a mistake in outlawing it. The play goes back to the roots of the sport. There is plenty of wide open athleticism on display already. This one play of pure power and aggression is an item that is disappearing from the sport little by little. Here is one place the old school value can be kept while still having a modern approach to minimizing injuries.

I posted about this last night but it just pisses me off beyond belief.  This quote especially.

"It amounts to a rugby scrum. The NFL wants to showcase the athleticism and skill of our athletes. This is just not a skillful play. This is just a tactic that is not an aesthetically pleasing play, and I think the competition committee is going to take a look at it.’’

If the NFL wants to ban a play because it isn't a skillful play then they should ban the QB kneel down.  The Super Bowl, the biggest game of the year with billions of dollars invested, ended on 3 straight plays where the QB kneeled and then stood around.  By the NFL standards, how does that showcase any skill and athleticism?

The above two comments should be written into a combined statement that is sent to the competition committee and to all the media and broadcast outlets and all the teams .,. ideally with the purpose of generating a groundswell of public opinion.

Anecdotally, talking with a few groups of friends about the game, all stated that they hated the sneaks and found they affected their enjoyment of the game.

I think most non-Eagles fans will feel similarly

I know that teams cannot block interviews of assistant coaches for head coaching positions. I assume that means that other teams don't need to ask for permission.  I would guess that Gannon didn't want to be bothered and his agent communicated the information about the interview through the Eagles.

He showed some flash towards the second half.  My hope is they look to upgrade through the draft.  I don't know that the UDFA route is going to yield better results.  I mean Reagor was awful and was a first round pick.

With the departure of 2 coordinators, will they bring some of assistant coaches with them?  Also players?  There would be many changes in this off-season.

AR when he was with the team lost some of his assistants and did not refill with similar or better quality.  Siri seems to favor promoting in-house for the coaching staff.  Maintaining a strong staff should be in order.

@ToastJenkinsThat’s a good description of the problem the team faces, and the final sentence is a good Vision statement.  Next step is to construct a plan and execute that plan.

Hate that Fer. What he did leading up to and during that Mcnabb draft was disgusting and disgraceful and the guy should've been banned from Philly radio and the Eagles should have blacklisted him too. He still is proud about that no less and that dirty 30 group. Disgusting and embarrassing for me as an Eagles fan what they did. Good Fing riddance.
