Would it not have been simpler to do this on the side rather than continuing to engage with people in this thread and drag this out further? You know, what some people have asked for?

To be clear with everyone else, I'm not going to continue beat this drum here, because it isn't fair to everyone else.

Just find it a little funny, you see. Trying to be transparent.

Jeffrey Simmons seems like a Jason Peters type trade Howie will definitely explore

I don't think Peters was as highly regarded around the league at the time of his trade as Simmons is.

Peters was coming off a down year where he had given up a ton of sacks, I remember some in the media saying the bills fleeced the eagles.

Reid got up and said peters was the best tackle in the league and got laughed out of the building.

So a bit different scenario where Simmons is regarded as a top DL in the league

If I'm tagged and called out, I'm going to respond and immediately moved beyond it in here. I don't think it's unreasonable, nor do I think you needed to continue it further.

The Jason Peter's trade is probably one of my worst take's on here ever.  The pick we used to get him we got from Carolina in a trade down.  They took Otah.  My thinking at the time "Why would we get an older tackle when we could get a potential cornerstone of our line for a long time and just draft Otah in the first place".

Otah lasted only 4 seasons.

Jason Peters did some things.

Mock me.

I actually dont give a F I just think its hilarious that you all are so butthurt

I'd say 2012, thats the last time 3 RBs went in the first

Trent Richardson 4 ( bust) Martin 31( bust) Wilson 32 ( bust).

Then 2013 zero in the 1st, Bernard first RB picked at 37 then again in 2014 no backs taken in the 1st with Bishop Sankey( bust) going at 54 followed by Jeremy hill 55 then Carlos Hyde at 57, all those guys sucked.

Since 2017 had two guys in the top 10 Fournette(4) McCaffrey (8)

Then of course last year no backs taken in the first again.

But I'd say 2012 was the beginning of the end for RBs.

2017 may be the GOAT in regards to RB drafts.  At least in this era of football

1 4 Jacksonville Jaguars Leonard Fournette  RB LSU SEC
1 8 Carolina Panthers Christian McCaffrey  RB Stanford Pac-12
2 41 Minnesota Vikings Dalvin Cook  RB Florida State ACC from Cincinnati [R2 - 6]
2 48 Cincinnati Bengals Joe Mixon  RB Oklahoma Big 12 from Minnesota [R2 - 9]
3 67 New Orleans Saints Alvin Kamara  RB Tennessee SEC from Chicago via San Francisco [R3 - 1]
3 86 Kansas City Chiefs Kareem Hunt  RB Toledo MAC from Miami via Minnesota [R3 - 10]
3 89 Houston Texans D'Onta Foreman  RB Texas Big 12
3* 105 Pittsburgh Steelers James Conner  RB Pittsburgh ACC
4 114 Washington Redskins Samaje Perine  RB Oklahoma Big 12 from NY Jets [R4 - 5]
4 119 Chicago Bears Tarik Cohen  RB North Carolina A&T MEAC from Arizona [R4 - 9]
  4 121 San Francisco 49ers Joe Williams  RB Utah Pac-12 from Indianapolis [R4 - 10]
4 132 Philadelphia Eagles Donnel Pumphrey  RB San Diego State MW from Kansas City via Minnesota [R4 - 16]
4 134 Green Bay Packers Jamaal Williams  RB BYU Ind. (FBS)
4 140 New York Giants Wayne Gallman  RB Clemson ACC Selection dropped 12 spots (see above)
4* 143 Indianapolis Colts Marlon Mack  RB South Florida The American from San Francisco  [R4 - 21]
5 156 Atlanta Falcons Brian Hill  RB Wyoming MW from Buffalo [R5 - 5]
5 162 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jeremy McNichols  RB Boise State MW
5* 179 Arizona Cardinals T. J. Logan  RB North Carolina ACC
5* 182 Green Bay Packers Aaron Jones  RB UTEP C-USA
6 188 New York Jets Elijah McGuire  RB Louisiana-Lafayette Sun Belt from Chicago via Houston and Cleveland [R6 - 3]
6 203 Denver Broncos De'Angelo Henderson  RB Coastal Carolina Ind. (FCS) from Tennessee [R6 - 12]
7 238 Green Bay Packers Devante Mays  RB Utah State MW from Denver  [R7 - 15]
7 241 Tennessee Titans Khalfani Muhammad  RB California Pac-12 from NY Giants [R7 - 18]
7 242 Oakland Raiders Elijah Hood  RB North Carolina ACC
7 249 Seattle Seahawks Chris Carson  RB Oklahoma State Big 12 from Atlanta [R7 - 21]
7* 252 Cleveland Browns Matthew Dayes  RB NC State ACC from Denver [R7 - 23]

Fournette, McCaffery, Cook, Mixon, Kamar, Hunt, Aaron Jones, Donnel Pumphery, Jamal Williams, Maroln Mack, Chris Carson.... hell even Foreman's had his moments last year.

A LOT of top end talent and a LOT of more than serviceable backs too.

And we got Pomphrey.  Really wanted Marlon Mack in that draft as it got to the 3rd and 4th round.  He didn't end up being great but he was much better than Pumphrey.

Yup and Howie ended up with Pumphrey😡

I remember that draft and being excited about getting a RB, there were rumors eagles wanted dalvin cook, of course they didn't get him

I liked Alvin kamara a lot, and I liked Marlon Mack later

I was big on Jamal Williams later  in the draft because he was a BYU guy.

When Howie Traded up in the 4th and Williams and Mack were still both there I thought for sure he'd take one of them instead he takes a 170 pound highschool RB

Such a flop by Howie in a pretty stacked RB class to end up with Pumphrey.😡

With Jamaal Williams being drafted 2 picks later. This seems like a recurring theme for our FO 🤔

Surely every team with the cap space will be interested in simmons.

Even look at the best RB's taken in the 1st round in the past 20ish years, LT, Peterson, Steven Jackson, etc. How many Super Bowls did those guys win?

I think teams have strategically moved away from having a single running back to rely on. It just doesn't make sense with the rate they get injured and how much that would hamper the running game. Modern RBs are breaking down in 6-8 years. There's not a lot of value in drafting a player in the 1st round if in the best case scenario you're only going to get 8 years max out of them. You want a 1st rounder to be a 3 contract type of player, not almost be on the tail end of their career at the end of their 1st contract.

Yep. I was big on Gallman that draft, and while he hasn't done much he certainly would have contributed here more than Pumphrey. Aaron Jones and Chris Carson going even later is just the cherry on top of that ish sundae.

The perfect answer from a perfectly average coach.

Yup Jamal Williams went then marlon Mack right after.

Sydney Jones was pick 44 who would you rather have Alvin Kamara or Kareem hunt or Sydney Jones.

If Derek Barnett is in this draft and the pick is between him or Bijan Robinson who you taking?

You taking Barnett at 10 just because Teams value DE over RB?

Personally I'm not taking either at 10 I'm trading down and getting Bijan right before the cowboys can.
