We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

You know who he reminds me of? Andre Dillard. I confess I missed on Dillard when he was drafted. I thought he was going to be a very good player and early on. Turned out he wasn't strong enough and lacked fire. Talent and coaching can only get you so far. You have to want it.

I look at Duncan and I think I'm seeing the same guy.

Hmmm thats concerning. Too finesse?

I wish he was still here. I'd trade almost every one we have in the Philly beat to get Davenport back.

I also miss Vaughn Hebron on the CSN broadcasts.

It's just my impression, worth no more than a cup of coffee at Dunkin. (I hate Starbucks.)

Just finished watching a video of Joel Klatt’s draft steals.  He mentioned Kendre Miller, who I think would be a very nice pick at #94.  The guy bounces off tackles with contact balance and he always gets the finishing 1-2 yards at the end of his runs.

He also mentioned Ji’Ayir Brown and Jordan Battle at safety; I like Battle a bit better, but they both look like good mid-round prospects.

@just relax, he added Michigan C Olu Oluwatimi in his analysis.  Remington and Outland Award winner, who Klatt said could be either a C or OG in the NFL.  Wondering if you have an opinion on him.  Dickerson was also a Remington winner, but had a better pedigree at Alabama.  Oluwatimi is also not as big — 6’3, 309 I think — but could be an option for a transition to guard like Dickerson.

Kendre Miller has consistently been one of my targets for the Eagles. However, i do believe the 3rd rond is a bit soon for him, so Howie will need to acquire additional picks if he is going to be a BPA selection.

I have also cooled a bit on Miller as @TEW's love of Jahmyr Gibbs has taken root in my thinking.

Every year there are NFL Combine snubs, and in 2023, many would argue NC State offensive lineman Chandler Zavala was among the biggest.

The graduate student's production should have made him a no-brainer to receive an invite to Indianapolis earlier this month. Zavala, a first-team All-ACC selection, registered 31 pancake blocks and allowed just 0.5 sacks in 747 snaps last season. He was also named a Midseason All-American according to The Athletic and started 12 games for the Pack at left guard in 2022.

Despite not attending the combine, Zavala remained undeterred, and turned his focus towards NC State's pro day, which was held yesterday. When the dust settled, Zavala's performance included 30 bench press reps of 225 pounds, a 32 1/2-inch vertical jump and 5.01-second 40-yard dash.

He's 24 though

Also him from an interview in 2021 -

  • My favorite football team is the Philadelphia Eagles because they have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.

Does anyone know if any of the freakbeasts in the draft played Little League?  Phils could use a 1st baseman.

Gotta believe when the Rockies fall out of contention that the Phillies attempt to get cron or maybe even kris bryant

I don’t buy the idea that they told him that. They don’t know how the board will fall, and it’s a perfect rosenhaus smokescreen. Not buying it for a moment.

Random thought of the day.  If you were Carter/Rosenhaus would you want to be part of the Panthers? Texans? Cardinals? Colts? Seahawks? Lions? Raiders?  Falcons?  Bears? Of all of those only the Lions are attractive.  The Eagles and, with the resigning of Simmons, the Titans are good situations for Carter ... and the Titans are overall nowhere near as attractive in the big picture as the Eagles are.

So, given the impact the speeding incident has already had on the possibilities of Top Pick money, do you play smoke screen to discourage teams other than the Eagles?

I think it’s an idiotic play regardless to be insulting to all but 10 teams. I get that rosenhaus is established in the business, but I don’t see his angle on this. Particularly because he has no idea if Carter will take further reputational damage before draft day.

Question for everyone ... which Draft Big Board do you like the most with respect to player values?

He was a Philly journalist, I believe.

Then what do you do if they pass on him?

Didn't realize how much I depended on the TV numbers on the Phillies jerseys to help identify which player I'm looking at.  Not trying to continually gripe about the ads but my guess is they took them off to make space for their sleeve sponsor whenever they announce it.  The patch is supposed to go on the sleeve that faces the pitcher (or camera).

Yes - he covered them through USA Today in 2017.  He definitely had sources through the players.  He had worked in some sort of business sales before he decided to be a journalist.

I like Miller a lot as a 4th-6th round pick. I think he’ll be a solid guy who can be a productive, versatile player who eats up snaps.

It’s just that I don’t think he, or really any other back not named Gibbs Achane or Mitchell, has the potential to move the needle much given the dynamic that Hurts and our OL already give us.

Gibbs is the player who most clearly and probabilistically could take our offense to a new level in my view. Achane might as well, but he’s smaller and not as proven as a receiver. Mitchell would be the budget 3rd down back version.

They definitely check the board and see what the trendy topic is among fans. It’s almost always an article a few days later.

I thought he'd get about $25 APY, surprised he didn't push for at least $100M.

Gonna be a privilege to watch Harper and turner the next decade. Such great hitters.
