Right, but the question is if that is by design or simply the coaches working within the limitations of their players.

Its obviously design. Already have alot of mouths to feed who are quite talented.

or are they working around the limitations at qb?

Could be worth a shot as that slot / kick returner

and low cost

Does anyone have access to what % of the time Quez was in the slot vs out wide (when he was on the field).

And how often was Brown in the slot?  Or was it just Quez and Pascal rotating?

Brown and Smith were each in the slot for around 16 percent of their snaps. Watkins was in the slot for 70 percent of his snaps.

Asking someone who follows more.  Could witherspoon play the slot until replacing Slay on the outside.  I know he's a good press Corner.

Listening to ITB's mock from Friday they are either getting different/better information than most people out there or are completely clueless. This was their top 9:

1. Carolina - Young

2. Houston - Stroud

3. Indianapolis - Richardson

4. Arizona - Anderson

5. Seattle - Carter

6. Detroit - Witherspoon

7. Oakland - Gonzalez

8. Atlanta - Van Ness

9. Chicago - Wilson

So some context. They start off fine but go off the rails. Caplan is insisting that at least two corners are gone before the Eagles pick, and that 3 could possibly go in the top 10. He was going to have Atlanta take Porter JR and then Mosher reminded him that they have Terrell and have a far greater need at DE. However, they take the wrong DE with Van Ness over Wilson. This was Caplan pushing for Van Ness and Mosher doesn't correct him that WIlson is a FAR better prospect. Then at 9 while Wilson is incredible value and the right pick, Caplan says the Bears need OL help but it's not that big of a need and no OL are worthy of a top 10 pick.

So they get to the Eagles pick and they say in this scenario the Eagles probably trade down to someone who wants Levis. Makes perfect sense. However, they say if the Eagles stay at 10 in this scenario that Joey Porter is the most likely person they would take.

Throughout the show Caplan was pushing narratives and Mosher just kept saying "I need to start doing more research," which is funny since the draft is less than 3 weeks away. I guess it's just too fluid of a situation for him to have the real intel.

Cosell thinks he might project better at slot than outside, so I’d say yes.

I'm sure he could but they are paying Maddox to play the slot.  I know everyone loves the Maddox to safety scenario but I've seen nothing from the Eagles that suggests they would every do that.

I think so yes

Who do you want at 10?  I would prefer a trade back myself.  I understand it takes 2 to tango. I don't know how far Murphy will fall . A trade back and picking him would be a great start.

That makes sense.  Maddox is hurt to often.  I figured if they went with witherspoon kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak.  Just a thought.

If it were up to me, I would get rid of Maddox if it made financial sense.  Like you said, he's hurt too often.  I would love Clark Phillips from Utah to play the slot.  He's a plug and play from day 1 and he would be a perfect fit there.

Van Ness is pretty hot right now, both Buck & DJ spoke about him and believe he goes top 10. I'm sure they are following that lead. At this spot we have our choice of the very 1st o-lineman. Howie will be awfully tempted to take their guy. Though I'd rather trade back in this scenario.I would have tried to move up for Wilson if he fell like they suggest. Atlanta would have been prime for that move. I do wonder if Porter may be a better fit at safety but we're not drafting a safety that high so it's irrelevant.

I don’t really like that utilization.

Whether or not Watkins is adequate or should be upgraded is a separate debate.  For as long as he IS the #3, I see him as being better outside.  If he were a more refined WR, then he’d be a nice option in the slot and could leverage that speed into some nice open cushions for good chunks in the slot.  But he’s not.

Brown translates quite well to the slot.  He should probably be there when Watkins is on the field.

Then you don't want a slot CB at 10.  And Maddox isn't as easy to replace as some are making it out to be.  No one did it well last year but this is the time of year when people (not you) pick a name they like and act like the guy can walk in and be a top quality starter as a 3rd rd pick or something

If theres one knock on Witherspoon, it would probably be that he is below 6'0''. Lots of talented CBs these days are 6 and above. Used to be less common but theyve gotten bigger faster stronger...

Im not sure if Cosell expanded on why he thinks he projects better as a slot. But it may be the lazy answer just based on height alone.

He expanded on it, but I don’t recall why. I know size was mentioned. I definitely wouldn’t accuse Cosell of lazy takes though.

Maddox is a good player but I think he's easier to replace if you don't use Josiah Scott.  This is going to sound silly but if you have better players on the roster, the easier it is to replace someone.  Josiah Scott isn't that guy.  They should have gone after Mike Hilton when he was available rather than extending Maddox.  Clark Phillips has the skillset and is built perfect to thrive as an NFL slot CB.

I’d be happy to have either corner. I’d prefer a trade down if they aren’t there. I’m not a huge fan of anyone else and Carter scares me.

Against the grain, I’d be fine with JSN. I think how he wins would pair nicely with our other WRs and would be ready for a promotion in four years when AJB is older.

I think no matter who the Eagles take at 10. If they stay there is more than likely not starting day one.  Unless it's OG.  There's a difference of opinion on this board to draft that position at 10 as well.

@HazletonEagle

I seem to remember Cosell comping Witherspoon to Colts nickel Kenny Moore.

I dont know.

He might not be the 6'2'' guy people want these days, but I think he can play outside.

I draw the line at the 5'8'' 5'9'' types like Phillips II or Hodges-Tomlinson.

5'11'' may not be ideal these days but I think WItherspoon can handle it.

I would say the limitation is at RB. Who have they had on the roster who could be considered a good receiving back?

I guess getting Carter at 10 would be ok. Just want them to go defense with both picks
