Yeah I think there's a reasonable chance he tumbles

Maybe the better question is if it’s worth trading up from 30 for him?

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

You look at the success the Eagles have had with Hurts and all the authentic talk about him as a leader. He is humble, team first, and non stop work ethic. This is what you want as a team. Kelce, Johnson, this is how they lead. You don't want to add a dude who is me above we (how he behaved at the accident is like a case study in this), and moving forward if the team is successful have him lead some G-dogs in the house nonsense. Robinson fits the culture Hurts has established. That's an understated new asset for the Birds. Keep rolling with top guys who have the right attitude and let the others, regardless of freakbeast characteristics, foment bad culture on other teams. Robinson, Smith, and Witherspoon are the first round guys who stand out as having Hurts-like perspectives on the game. Hopefully there is a guard in there who fits Stoutland and has the same perspective.

Not sure how so many people still have Meyer ahead of Kincaid.

Different flavors. If a team (Dallas comes to mind) wants a complete TE then it’s Mayer all day. If they want an oversized slot receiver it’s Kincaid. Some teams might factor age into their equation as well. Kincaid will turn 24 early in the season. Mayer turns 22 in July.

I think they are looking for guys who love football and have a good work ethic.  If you start looking beyond that it’s too much. A lot of the team isn’t ‘humble’ and some of them party etc. Pretty sure Fletch had racing thing at one point.  They don’t need 53 choir boys but they do need people who take their jobs seriously and work to improve tirelessly

Mayer is a Gronk type of tight end in which he gives you everything.  Kincaid is more of an Ertz tight end in being the elite route runner but not the complete tight end Mayer is.  Kincaid has also had quite a few major injuries, a fractured back being one of them, while at Utah.  He's cleared but still a mild concern IMO.

Both are going to be great.

This is the guy every Eagles fan should be clamoring for, not Bijan.

So we've been on the opposite end of the spectrum regarding Carter. I'm still wanting someone to tell me why he's the can't miss, must have player in this draft. Can you explain why you want him or even better, why you'd even move up to get him?  I'd love to be sold on him because there's a chance he is the guy.  I watched UGA during the season and never understood the hype.  I've scoured through every highlight tape leading up to the draft and while there are some impressive plays, there aren't nearly enough that tells me he's worth moving up for or worth taking despite the concerns.

We all know the red flags and they've been discussed a ton. On top of all of those, one of the biggest concerns for me, even if he is a high character guy, is the report out there that he doesn't have a passion for the game.  That's what I've felt since day 1 watching him.  Visually, he seems unhappy on the field.  The Eagles just went through that with Andre Dillard.  This coaching staff is all about "guys who love ball".  Carter, if those reports are true, is not that guy.

If you were to watch Jalen Carter highlights, followed by Keeanu Benton highlights, can you tell me there's a huge gap between the two players?

I'm also WAY more excited about next years DL class than this years.

What are they really going to say about a player that we haven't already heard at this point? The only interesting thing would be interviews with players &GMs.  The draft coverage was really never that interesting anyway they just had a captive audience because it was the only way to see the picks

Talk about how they fit within the specific scheme for the team that drafted them.  Show more highlights.  Give more in-depth information about how they were utilized in their schemes in college.

I just want the show to be football related, not about all the other stuff.  And... bring back the helmet phones!!!

I'd rather watch the same highlights I've seen the entire draft process than have to sit through Jeremy Schaap tell me how drafted players sister once broke her leg so player carried her to class every day.

NFL/ESPN/ABC, it's OK if the NFL draft is catered to diehard NFL fans who actually want football content.  Not everything has to targeted for the masses. My guess is they add all of the emotional fluff for to enhance their image to female fans but IMO, that's insulting to the women who actually want to watch the NFL.  They watch it for the same reasons we do, because they like football.

Highlights, scheme fits, projections etc.  That's all we want.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. My wife will sit and watch some of the draft and she enjoys the human interest stories. She did, however, think they went overboard with players having to talk about the worst moments of their lives in what was supposed to be their happiest moment.

This is why I think they take Paris......their offensive line has lost a lot of depth, they just paid Hurts 250 million.  The pick wouldn't be sexy, but you need a RG, and eventual replacement for Johnson so......get the best possible offensive lineman (as long as Stoudland says yes, get him), and then with 30, trade back into the top of the 2nd round getting more draft capital and hope Gibbs is still there.  The reality is, we are going to have to outscore teams this year, so load up!  Next year when we have 12 picks, go nuts on defense.

Yea idk if this team is willing to gamble like that. When was the last true character concern they brought in here? And to pick one at 10 who's had questions about laziness and effort? Not their MO regardless of position and skill

Somehow I missed that in recent years.  That's beyond stupid.  Let the kids celebrate.

It’s insane how much info and real experience these guys have and yet come off like WIP callers.

The guy wasn't really wrong though...taking Gabbert would have let them know earlier that both of them suck.  Instead they hung onto Cam till his shoulder fell off and they're scrambling now.

No, he was 100% wrong. Newton was an MVP, while Gabbert could never start in the NFL.

Ridiculous take.

Maybe the Cowboys and Vikings.  Dak's deal only lasts through 2024. He's going to want to re-negotiate.  Depending on how this season goes, I can see how the Cowboys may want to have another option.  The Vikings seem like an obvious choice for a QB given that Cousins may be gone soon.  It's possible Seattle is a team too.

The Cowboys are notorious for drafting QBs high.

I also can't stand the whole NFL production of the event. The delays in reading the cards, the special guests, the contest winning fans that step out and say, "YO <insert team> NATION!" ... the chimps that touch screens ... The transvestite hermaphrodite flag football league championship team ---  make sure you don't miss some demographic!

Please stop with unnecessary garbage

I suspect there will be a belief that the right culture, with the right players and coaches can help someone grow up/mature and remove the issues he has, or mitigate them.  I can't talk how much an idiot Carter really is, but some teams will look at him and think he is worth the risk.  Eagles wise, the countenance is Jordan Davis has enough on his plate without having to baby sit an idiot rookie who has a lot of maturing to do - Carter won't grow up in one year, so it will be added work for him.

I can't say if the Eagles like him enough to take him at 10, but they'd have to be ironclad confident that he won't ish the bed to take him.  In some respects, I'd rather have a 1st round pick next year than Carter.

You can't coach a guy into loving football though. If there is a belief that the guy will go crazy with his rookie top 10 money and not work hard because he just doesn't care that much about football then you have to pass.

No doubt there are some folks that do enjoy the human interest stories.  But to water down the draft to be so focused on them when I think it's safe to say the majority of the fans want football content is a mistake.  They have it on 3-4 channels now...why not have one channel focus on the human interest sob stories, and the rest can give us the football content we want.

2023 marketing in a nutshell.  Cater to the minority, ignore the majority, lifelong users/fans.

100% agreed here. It's simulcast on multiple channels. Leave one of them to just be 100% football related commentary.
