Why WR?

It's an offensive league. Get 3 studs for 3 years, 2 of which are on rookie deals.

That said, from the limited draft coverage I've read, this class doesn't seem to have a WR who merits a top 10 pick. Philosophically, I'd absolutely do it if the value made sense.

We took out more trash this weekend. Publicly harassing VA (who saved the EMB and is trying to focus on the technology, marketing & ad revenue) will not be tolerated. Taking a fun football me

I think Downs would make an awesome slot WR, but highly highly doubt he's there in the 3rd round. The Eagles aren't spending a 1st or 2nd on a WR.

Allen played terribly in the playoffs.  He choked away the game against the Bengals.  If Hurts had played like him, I think a fair amount of the blog would want to move on from him at QB.  Burrow is a top tier QB.  He will keep Cincy as a contender.  I think the other overhyped QB may be Herbert at this point.  I would consider putting Lawrence ahead of him because I think Lawrence is going to have a continued upswing under Doug.

I just want to see Herbert with an actual good coach/OC for once. He gets held back every year.

Yep. My concern is how well does his game age? He’s worth a big contract now, but what will his game look like three or four years from now when he isn’t a running threat that dictates how he is defended?

No matter what deal he gets there's going to be a risk that he's not the same player in the next 3 to 5 seasons. I mean Wentz, who had all of the arm talent in the world, was never the same after his knee injury.  He never had the same mobility and just doubled down on his worst instincts.  I don't see Hurts having the same lack of insight as Wentz has about his game.  I do think physical decline is a significant risk for him.

Did Kelce give any idea what his time frame was on his decision about retirement?  Be cool if him and his brother retired the same year and go into the HOF together

Unlikely Jason Kelce would be a first ballot HOF player as a center.  Travis Kelce will likely be if his current trajectory continues.

Be my guest.  Hargrave is the only one I would even wave to.

Not suggesting any would be a great loss. I'd like to have Graham back but will understand if they move on as well. But if Howie has plans to bring some of them back, there might be more competition factoring in Schwartz, Steichen and Gannon all having new homes.

I'd say he's underrated among Philly fans.

At the end of 2021 people had him up there with Mahomes.

At the end of 2022 he had 124 less yards passing, 1 less TD, 1 less INT, 1 more rushing TD, had more fumbles but only lost 2 more than 2021. He also played 1 less game in 2022. His passer rating and QBR both went up in 2022.  And all of a sudden now he sucks, is "obsolete", not a top 5, wouldn't be able to lead the 2022 Eagles to a SB, etc etc.

He had bone head plays especially in the RZ and people are laser focused on that. He's still a very good QB.

If I was a Bills fan, I would be concerned that it looked like the pressure was too much for Allen in the playoffs.  Those interceptions were complete mental errors that seemed driven by either some sort of erratic overconfidence in his ability or just a lack of understanding of the circumstances.  Through most of last season I would easily have taken Allen over Hurts.  I would probably take Allen over Hurts now but in a big moment when you need the QB to not make a mistake I think Hurts deserves more trust than Allen.

I think taking a WR with a premium pick makes sense if the intention is to pass more and run less; as you need more targets to justify an expensive upgrade resource-wise of Quez/Pascal.  Would this make the offense more efficient -or- do we like the run/pass balance as is?

@TorontoEagle What are you confused about?

No he isnt

He without question is.  But the haters like you that were flat out wrong about him will just continue to die on that hill looking like someone with their pants on the ground.

Weird that we haven’t heard any leaks about sham OC interviews.

I was thinking this. I'm guessing they're getting DC done first before they do the forced OC interviews.

Not feeling good about Joseph - his defenses have been meh, but as concerning ARZ put some top picks into that defense and they didn't develop (Simmons/Zavon Collins, etc.).

Burrow and allen still ahead

There can be an argument for Burrow but Hurts has surpassed Josh Allen at this point.  He's far too careless with the football and it hurt the Bills repeatedly this past season.

I think it's because they already have their OC in Brian Johnson and they are waiting until they figure out who the DC is and then announce both hires at the same time.

There are interviews that happen that don't leak at all.  I remember the last few go arounds we heard that some guy talked to the eagles like a year later. I'm sure they happened already

I think it's a bit of a knee jerk reaction. How did Allen look under pressure in 2021 trading knock out blows with Mahomes? I think his elbow injury probably affected him more than most people realize. He had a bad playoff showing this year, not going to deny that. He had bonehead plays throughout the season. That's just the QB he is. Bengals also have a solid defense, they contained Mahomes as well the following week in the AFCCG.

I agree that Hurts makes less mistakes and is less reckless. They have a similar skill set but completely different mentalities.

Given what I've seen he wouldn't be my choice but he's respected around the league and often that means something.  Jim Johnson and others had some non-performant defenses before they got here.

In the playoffs being less reckless is important. Hurts shined (obviously except for the fumble)

Mich got 2 good DL in the draft , Mike Morris and Mazi Smith …Morris currently the better player , but Smith is a the better athlete, I expect him to nail the combine

like both these 2

Hurts might be like the fifth best QB in the NFL. We shouldn’t settle for less than perfection.

Trying to figure out which QB is better is pretty futile. They all have different skill sets. They all have good and bad games. The question is, do you have a QB good enough to put you in position to win Super Bowls, and it’s pretty clear we have that. This nit picky downplaying garbage is just butthurtism. The fact the Chiefs came back and we couldn’t stop their offense will give that the last little bit of steam. But people can only hang on to something so silly for so long.

My post doesn't have anything to do with whose better. It originated with someone calling Allen overrated.

I’m done trying to pre-judge coaches and coordinators. I just don’t know enough about any candidate to have an opinion. I didn’t Sirianni or Steichen would be any good and was wrong. Gannon seemed to coach scared and that turned out to be true. I’ll be fine with whoever until they suck. I’m way more curious about the plan with defensive personnel. Talent will take a hit, clearly. But in what areas? I’m curious if they stick to a DC with a similar scheme or try something different. Their attempt to keep Gannon was curious.
