If the economy isn’t doing well, Vance would be the wrong pick.  If the economy is doing well, I’d expect Vance to be the nominee.  When I say economy doing well or not well, I don’t mean based on metrics, but on how the economy is doing for the people.  That’s part of the reason I think Trump won this time.  The metrics seem good for the economy, but higher costs are what people see in day to day activities and don’t see the good economy.

But more importantly I don’t think either side has any real plan to get the cost of things like groceries/housing down. How are they going to regulate how a private business prices their goods? That goes against capitalism.  I have noticed that some grocery stores that have digital prices tags change prices of a good throughout the day. Some of these are business decisions they make irrespective of cost bc they know on some basic goods they have no choice but to pay. 

Tariffs (which aren't taxes!) will bring prices down because the other country pays for them not us. Pretty basic stuff to understand, really.

That’s true but I feel like it’s too complex of a problem for thats to be a solution everywhere and for it to be solved at the federal level. Some parts of this country are experiencing high costs bc of llcs buying up single family homes to use as short term rentals. Some due to zoning laws that won’t allow multiple unit dwellings to be built. Then you have also have urban cities where building more is not an option and the demand for housing outweighs the limited supply.

Totally anecdotal but my concern grew the last three days in Chester/Bucks county. Save for one guy, every one I spent time with are strong Harris supporters and they all talked about how much Trump support there was in their neighborhoods and friends’ networks. It always came down to fear of taxes and the overall economy for the reasons people were supporting Trump. They said everyone hated Trump but were voting against the leftist economic agenda. Throw in the stupid woke sheet at the margins and, voila, here we are again with Orange Man.

Not THAT woman.  This was a version of 1972 all over again.  The Democratic party went off the deep end with progressivism and nominated the worst, weakest and most unlikable candidate they could dig up.

There will be a strong woman who served well as a governor who is well grounded and respected.  Not some looney from California who speaks like a Valley Girl and who surrounds herself with the Hollywood circuit.

FWIW, the Democratic party did Shapiro a favor by not selecting his as the VP.  He's not tainted by this mess and after four more years as gov, is well positioned to make a run at the nomination for prez.

Federal solution will always be limited. And often with unintended consequences.

The bottom line is we have more demand for housing than supply, so any solution to fix prices needs to increase supply. Residential home building needs to be expanded, but there's no easy fix for the problems builders deal with because so many are at the local level.
