Laugh as much as you want the demand curve is going to shift if domestic prices increase because 2 or 3 brands are removed. There are many substitutes.

Dude. If fewer options are available it means demand for those that remain goes up.

Which means prices will go up.

This is literally econ 101.

lmao @Gannan, like I said bud, take a break. Maybe start looking for retail in other countries or something.

Get back to me when you learn where bananas come from and how supply chains work.

I know, those foreign companies all waited four years after the tariffs were implemented until Biden got in and the whoooosh, prices went skyrocketing! Damn you, orangeman!

Trump entered office with food CPI near record lows during the century. In his one term he took it from -2.3% all the way 5.6% until his incompetence managing COVID destroyed everything. That's an 8% increase is grocery prices just from his policies alone before COVID.   At least Biden had some sort of excuse for his 10%.

Are you naturally this bad at understanding basic concepts or does it take practice?

You do not understand demand curve. You also do not understand how many domestic brands of butter we have. Removing a few foreign ones because people chose to not buy them because they are expensive will not result in domestic prices going up because they will understand that by doing so they will then lose sales on domestics. People will switch to coconut oil or fake spreads.

The part that isn't discussed enough

Me after having just discussed this for the last two pages:

Why would a company facing less competition from imports reduce prices?  They wouldn’t…

just to be nice & do the right thing. self regulation is super effective.

Also, the swamp/uniparty is a real thing and it's hard to tell who is loyal to it until they get hired. So out the door they go.

no, that's unacceptable after so many times. again, how do you trust the decision making of someone who gets it wrong umpteen times and is duped, fooled by so many?

would you keep going to an auto repair shop if the owner kept hiring people that eventually sabotage his business?

No, you don’t understand, bro. They’re going to pay for it. Not us.

They aren't going up in price. They also don' just face competition from foreign brands, they face it from fake spreads, coconut oil, vegan stuff, etc.

I can't wait for the "prices are cheaper, you just don't know it" posts from these bozos by mid summer.

Libtards are really going to compare Trump era inflation with Biden and then say I don't understand basic concepts lmao.

We can add ignorance of simple micro terms to your list of not knowing basic college psych terms.

Remember when that tranny Biden appointed started stealing women's clothes from airports? Anyway, Trump sure is turning the government into a circus.

Because some of them think it only applies to finished goods from china. They don't realize US is currently in a trade deficit, the US imports raw materials they cannot source domestically, and retaliatory tariffs are also on the table which affects US businesses that export a lot.

I'm hoping they learned from the "The border is secure", "The economy is great" and the "Inflation is transitory" bozos. I have my doubts but there's hope they don't repeat the mistakes of the Dems.

Again with that term, huh? That proves stability and intelligence, but again, those people are the best people on the planet full of love and kindness. When you call me that it's a compliment.

The part that isn't discussed enough is that, if the prices of all imports are raised due to tariffs, then domestic suppliers will also raise prices given the lack of price competition. Companies will look to maximize profits, and they will happily raise prices on domestically produced goods. Markets are dynamic.

We've tried to make that point.

It falls on deaf ears because they want a magic bullet.

You want to hear about inflation? My wife wants to move to California.

19 minutes ago, Gannan said:

Yeah Covid had nothing to do with any of that...good point.

Most countries had a post covid inflationary period. Russia and Turkey are countries that had it the worst. Could you argue his buy back better program could have made it worse? But I don't think some people understand this would've happened regardless of who the president was.

All this talk about what Big Butter is about to do is triggering my anxiety
