Start taking a more active role in regulating the private sector? Lawmakers try to get involved in private industry and they get called anti-free speech fascists and are voted out of office. Want them to get rid of the foreign money and bought politicians? Great, show me the list of Republicans that will vote to repeal Citizens United. We're long past the time that we can do anything with any sort of effect. The problem is so insidious that half of our government officials are balls deep in the disinformation and dirty money.
