The teams beating us don't just have better #1s they all have far better teams.

Also, he hasn't been as efficient since his finger injury that the team decided they wouldn't let heal. So Celtics series he's still injured and his coach has also shown he has never had a plan to play without Embiid even though they should know to expect it.

There are so many confounding variables with the Maxey debate because the team does so many things badly.

Steph had a lot of help, but he was their main guy in that first title against LeBron. He had the helpf because unlike the Sixers they didn’t have a million different mistakes along the way. For all of the drafting of Embiid, Maxey and VJ success. There’s about 50 to 60 mistake mistakes or bad decisions that hamstrung the sixers. They also had an owner willing to pay the price to win multiple titles.

He has the finger issue basically all year and during the postseason. still was far and a way more efficient in games 5-7 against Boston than any other point in the playoff run. Can call it a coincidence but it coincides with when Embiid also played his best basketball during this playoff run as well. I’m fine trying to build a team around Maxey (pg and Embiid contracts kind of make that hard) but i think in the end we are going to come to the same conclusion of good but not good enough to win a title doing it.

On the last part, I don’t disagree. But I can make the argument about variables at different points of the last decade. They fall on Harris and FO continuously screwed the sixers at every turn to the point with poor decisions so they had significant weaknesses and did many things badly at those times. That is unlikely changing under Harris. That to me is the reality have having bad ownership.

So many mistakes over the years. I think they would have won a title if they had kept Butler instead of Harris but the Simmons debacle was the crusher. It was so nice when we finally got rid of him.

I can't imagine how frustrated the players are, particularly Embiid. He publicly asked the FO to bring some guys in around the trade deadline to strengthen the bench and allow them to compete, instead they did their best to dodge the tax and gut some depth in the process. They brought in Cam Payne to be a back up guard only to cut him before the playoffs.

Nurse ran his starters into the ground through the regular season and through the Boston series and they have looked gassed in gamed after the 1st half. George had 15 in the first and couldn't hit a shot after that, he looked like he had tired legs as he is also asked to carry a heavy load on defense and play a large amount of minutes.

Maxey does seem to escape a lot of criticism that has been thrown Embiid's way through his career. The finger issue isn't easy to play through, but he is so timid to shoot the ball and it's been really noticeable the last couple of games. They've needed him to stand up and he has been disappointing when they've needed him to carry them.

I'm expecting a sweep, Knicks are deep and are playing pretty well as a team through the series. They needed to win game 2 which they unfortunately lost down the stretch. Even if they win this, Knicks likely close it out at home in game 5.

Sixers bench probably looking a lot better with Joe, McCain and champagnie. The fact they basically released champagnie to have McClung wear a sixers uni in a dunk contest is really peak sixers lol.

So we are literally waiving the white flag today

Knicks starting 9/10 from 3 would be very Sixers.

The dumbest contract given was extending Embiid when they did. He was coming off a knee injury. Was no reason to at that point. Even the PG contract isn’t as bad (not good either). He’s at least movable as an expiring contract after the 3rd year. Embiid contract was horrible at the time. Was absolutely no reason to do it at that time.

Love maxey, but he had under 20 points in 3 of 4 games this series. I think finger and being gassed (avg 38 mins in regular season then playoff mins). That said those were also things people would use with Embiid and he got grilled for when he didn’t show up like people expected.

yeah…I mean Maxey only had 3 made threes total in the entire series. he was awful. I’m ready to fast forward 2-3 years when Embiid & PG are gone. there’s no hope until then.

In 3 years, Maxey is 28 going on 29. Add on VJ is going to need a rookie extension. At least we have our draft picks going forward and the clippers pick and swap. I could easily see Maxey asking out after next year. Tbh sixers have a decision to make at that point. He has 2 years left on his contract at that point. If you let it play out there’s a chance he gets to the end of the contract at the same time as Embiid’s and decides to bolt.
