So, the most damning thing from this disappointing yet pretty expected defeat is that maybe the team, and certainly Embiid think he has hope for more time in the NBA.

It sounds like we were THIS CLOSE to a medical retirement possibly happening eventually. He said he thought he was done.

Now he took playing this post-season as a silver lining and proof that he can be healthy in playoffs.

So, more of the same. He will continue to be in and out of the lineup. Team will never find a consistent identity in their style of play. You dont know how to actually build a team.... Maxey will continue to defer when Embiid is on the court.... and VJ too for that matter.

I hope to god, Daryl is fired and the next GM has the sense to see you cant dance this dance with Embiid and run a team effectively.

I’d fire Morey but even if you do, we are stuck with Embiid. He is just starting his extension of 3 years around $190 mil. No one is taking that contract unless you include 1sts with it. Have to be multiple due to the amount of money he’s owed (Also still taking bad contracts back as well). Which would be dumb considering in a couple years we could be in a spot where maxey’s contract is ending alongside Embiid’s. who knows by then if Maxey wants to stay or demands a trade prior to that.

This goes back once again to the Sixers being stupid and just giving embiid an extension and not seeing where his knee is.

WORST ORG AND TEAM EVER. SELL THE TEAM AND MAXEY ISN'T UNTOUCHABLE-

HE SUCKED BOTH OF THE LAST GAMES, HIS BUTT GOT ALL PUCKERED UP.

HE IS NOT "THE GUY." WHATTA MESS.

VJ out his head down and tried to hide behind that microphone. Lol

Maxey gave the company line of trusting the FO and they always try to do what's best for the team.

Hope VJs expression speaks for everyone and players don't actually believe what Maxey said.

Nobody is doing to want excuses. Don't think anyone understands the finger situation. But that killed his shooting for a few weeks. Then he improved a bit and then it got "sprained" again was that at the end of the Boston series or like game 1 of this Knicks series? You can see what that did to his shooting again once that injury was reaggravated.

Lot of people will be inappropriately down on Maxey now because they don't get it.

Yeah it’s why i can totally see Maxey asking for a trade after next year. In the end, might be better off doing it then rather than playing will he or won’t he extend for an entire year in 28-29. I could see him leaving if he gets fed up with the organization. If he leaves you are really going into a rebuild at the start of VJ’s rookie extension.

Love Maxey but Embiid played with injuries in the past that were just as bad. Yet he got crucified when he played poorly. Frankly maxey doesn’t deserve the harsh criticism but neither did Embiid playing with some of his injuries. Yet he got it.

It was an every year thing for Embiid, plus in the shadow of the fact that he didn't care for his body right and was always out of shape. Aaaaand consistently mopey poor attitude. so very different...

Maxey has been nothing but a relentless worker, positive attitude, and injured very seldom, missing very little time.

It can become similar but after 1 year? He'll no. Silly to begin to compare.

Maxey has had finger injuries this year and last year. If he has an injury next year does that start becoming a problem? Would be third year in a row at that point where it effected his play.

No offense Embiid played with broke face, torn/injured mcl and torn ligament in his thumb in the playoffs. Kind of seems like you are making justifications for Maxey’s play trying to play through a finger injury, not playing well with a finger injury and saying it’s alright. but it is ok to

criticize on Embiid trying to play in postseason games through a mcl, broken face and ligament damage to his thumb to where he was essentially playing with 1.5 hands (i believe it had pulled the entire ligament/tendon off) and not playing well. Add to this Embiid playing 3 weeks after an appendectomy.

Embiid early in his career did not taking care of himself. That i completely agree. He specifically deserved a ton of criticism in that 2019 raptors series and losing. He takes better care of himself they win that series. However when he gets an elbow to the face, breaking his orbital bone in a freak accident and hurts his performance it’s hard to go to the he didn’t take care of himself. He’s had multiple injuries like that.

I’m fine being critical of both for not playing well (frankly both deserved it when they don’t) or using injury justifications for limiting their play. However not going to only crapping on embiid playing through as bad if not worse injuries and saying he deserves the criticism when he didn’t play well. But Maxey doesn’t deserve criticism for when he didn’t playing well cause he had a finger injury.

When do we fire Daryl Morey?

Asking for a friend.

Yeah... Im not going to pretend Maxey is in that same boat already...

What a terrible outcome for Indiana. Turns out they traded the 5th overall pick in the package for Zubac.

no gm can convince another team to take on 3 years/$188 mill of embiid .

It appears that a new GM's only move is to take the risk of bad optics in the future and trade Maxey this summer if you can get a good package. Just for the flexibility to be able to add some useful players and additional draft picks. Of course his new coach will still be saddled with George and Embiid... but he can try to shake things up and add more picks for the rebuild with VJ.

After next season you have to make both Embiid, and PG available in the expansion draft, but even then, I doubt either expansion team bites.

Based on reading the article not sure how they bring nurse back. Apparently the relationship between players and the coaching staff was pretty tense and came to a head in the beginning of April and was pretty contentious.

I posted the clip after the boston series win. His locker room speech was despicable. The faces of the two guys behind him said everything. I dont think anyone cares for him at all.

I feel very much like this now, he’s gonna have a Glenn Rivers type of coaching career. Where he lives off that Kawhi Leonard title run. meanwhile he’s just a very mediocre coach. But since he has that title in his pocket, he will continue to get jobs for another 7 to 10 years. then people realize he’s just a very overrated coach.
