Glass half full: long series against a team that will cool off and isn't overwhelmingly talented.

Glass half empty: did the entire process era peak and crest with a first round win over the Celtics?

The knicks are extremely deep and can keep throwing guys at you and have excellent defenders. Sixers are gassed and I don't see how they will be able to get any of their starters enough rest to keep up with the kicks.

Can thank Joshua Harris for ducking the tax when they should’ve been adding bench guys. That said still inexcusable to be down 30+ in 3 of 8 playoff games.

I absolutely hate the knicks and don't want them to win at all against anyone but, I do enjoy watching them play. Except Towns I can't stand that F lol

only gotta steal 1 game in ny.

Thankfully nick nurse gave that inspiring victory speech 2 nights ago where he told the team you have less than 2 hours to enjoy this win, and don't get tired.

Idk i kind of think we lose in 5. Imo against the Knicks can’t have the bench show up every 3-4 games and just run your starters 40+ mins and expect them to stay fresh. Tonight i think Sixers were tired but also the Sixers paid the price for games 6 and 7 where the bench was practically useless and had to overextend their starters (9 points in those two games).

If they lose game 2 I’d be shocked if this goes past 5

A good bench wins championships, obviously you need stars. However, they can only do so much especially playoff time that's when you need your depth and role players to get you over the hump imo. Sixers have never had a good bench or consistent role players and it shows up every year in the playoffs.

The irritating part is that the Sixers could’ve acquired guys at the deadline to improve their bench. I also think they need an upgrade from Kelly Oubre. If Oubre was coming off the bench, would actually be a better for the Sixers. Nevertheless, this still goes back to Joshua Harris, not wanting to go into the tax. If they would’ve went into the tax and got two players to add to this roster, they are probably better suited to make the run through the playoffs.

The problem with the Sixers is they need their top 4 guys to be great in order to win then the other guys can just be OK. The problem is you don’t always get that with Paul George at this stage of his career. VJ is a rookie so he’s going to have up and down games. With Embiid at some point playing in 40+ minutes is going to catch up to a guy at that size who’s also questionable to stay healthy. I could be more mad at Morey and I am but really, this goes back to ownership consistently avoiding the tax. Meanwhile, embiid basically said it that they need to go into the tax and get some guys for help. yet the Sixers ownership still made the decision it was better to duck the tax

It's pathetic and sad, look at the Lakers they invested this year in their bench and role players this season and it saved their season when luka and Reaves went down. I'm not delusional I think they will get blown out against okc, possibly swept but, the point is if not for their investment in role/bench they don't beat the rockets either. Marcus smart Rui and Kennard saved the season,

sixers have no one like that and it's frustrating and wasting embiids last legs and the investment in George. Why bother making those moves if you are not going to go all in? It's awful.

Sadly until Harris sells the team the best they’ll do is make the second round. I don’t see Harris selling until the team moves into the new arena

Figured that might happen. Just like the Flyers the Sixers had a letdown and will bounce back in game 2 but unlike the Flyers the Sixers will pull out a close win.

Game 1 was always going to be rough. Sixers are coming off a 7 game series with game 7 on the road.

The Knicks had a pretty easy game 6 and it's their home game. They looked really good on the defensive end, but they won't shoot that well every game of the series.

Sixers are a 7 seed & huge underdogs to advance. Beating Boston was great but this team isn’t winning anything…not with this ownership.

Yup. As much as Morey has stunk, it really goes back to ownership. I think even with Oubre being the 5th starter that the Sixers starters are good enough to compete for the eastern conference title. However they have no bench. They could easily have that bench if ownership wasn’t trying to duck and avoid the tax. Granted it doesn’t help that grimes has been absolutely garbage outside of game 5 and his stat padding game 4 vs. Boston. Drummond and Bona are clearly not good enough in the playoffs. Edwards, watford and Barlow are fine in the regular season but not good enough in the postseason.

They need a legitimate big off the bench and a wing/guard as well. It wasn’t helping last night in the game but over the course of the playoffs where you don’t run guys into the ground playing 40+ mins a game. For PG and Embiid that’s not sustainable at this stage of their careers. Not sure it was ever for Embiid

yeah…when you have 3 max players, you really can’t afford to miss with a guy like grimes. 5th highest salary on the roster & he’s been awful.

the big 3 + vj take up $156 mill of the cap space so there’s just nothing left for depth if you have a cheap owner who’s unwilling to pay the tax. No good vets are taking less $ to play in philly.

PG making 51.6 hurts but then again he got suspended and they had an avenue to duck th tax. Really close to wasting $14 on Drummond and grimes who aren’t good enough consistently off the bench. That money could’ve gotten a better starter and moved oubre to the bench or a really good bench guy and been much better off. Then gone into the luxury tax and gotten yourself a solid bench guy to fit another spot.

I’d love to bash Morey and nurse more. Nurse is frankly a fraud imo. No reason your team should be down 30+ in 3 of 8 playoff games. And Morey hasn’t adapted to how the league has evolved. But really ownership since they signed PG has decided to find every avenue to save money and be cheap. They actually did it before this but their plan was to save for the splash of PG. If you weren’t gonna be all in once you signed PG then you shouldn’t have signed PG to begin with. Because the only way that was gonna work is if you were willing to go into the luxury tax to put enough guys around that core to go all in for it. They have yet to do that once they sign PG. Frankly basically just wasting whatever Embiid has left and now the prime of maxey and cheap years of VJ
