February 4, 20251 yr Author btw, the grimes addition could mean gordon is on his way out. for some reason there's been reported interest in him.

Post tooth removal Gordon has shot at a decent rate

Basically traded all those picks, bridges and cam johnson to do nothing of significance with KD. Not going to get the return of what they gave up and nets got picks and then cashed out on bridges too.

It was always about using the loophole where his small salary was able to balloon and match a larger salary to actually improve the team on the court. He was never supposed to be traded for our cap relief. His value was as an expiring contract to the other team acquiring him. For us, he was supposed to bring in a starting caliber player.

February 5, 20251 yr Of note, Boucher and Temple are also on expiring contracts. Just like Grimes is. These moves are all helpful on the court, but do not tie down any cap space in future years. I like these moves. But Im also concerned that the 6ers havent leaned in to the tank more.
February 5, 20251 yr 5 minutes ago, iladelphxx said: Again, no idea if true Hopefully not. We don't need anyone to "absorb" a contract. We created that contract as an asset. No way it was ever meant to just bring back a 2nd rounder. That's a fail if that's the deal that comes to fruition.

But, sounds like the optics on this changed from turning that cool contract loophole in to an asset to now just a salary dump for us. I guess the silver lining is that, that move clearly indicates that the team has given up on this year. Maybe a tank job is forthcoming.
February 5, 20251 yr Author i'm guesing it will be a 2nd round pick. they'll spin it as "roster flexibility" and say it will help them sign yabu & grimes this offseason. meh. as long as they don't give up any picks during this deadline, i'm good.

The spin on this will be as sad as the fake 1st round pick Colangelo was hyping to the fans who all knew better. I will try not to complain too much because although this was not the intended purpose of this contract that we were all so excited about last month, it does show a shift in gears- that the team is not going for a finals win this year. My concern is that if they do this salary dump move, that they may not have leaned in to the tank quite enough. Because taking back Grimes wasnt a loser move. He can help the team. I want to see more dumps after this. Gordon, Drummond for 2nd rounders. If you can get a 1st for Oubre, do it...
