Players, executives, owners, etc. lose money on financial investments, real estate, etc. but you won't hear about that either.

Huh? You hear about that all the time. It’s why you hear about all the financial advisors teams bring in to talk to rookies when they sign their contracts. And why when bitcoin crashed all the news about players who took their signing bonus in bitcoin like OBJ lost most of it. Or when Vince Young and Dan Marino filed for bankruptcy because of bad investments. Or John Elway losing millions in a Ponzi scheme. Etc.

Also pretty big difference in losing money through gambling vs actual financial investments.

It was a lot better, which is quite surprising with remakes. All three main characters were better acted, especially the girl, who actually looked the right age for the part.

The remake was made by Joel and Ethan Coen. They did an excellent job.

First I am hearing of any of this but the EMB is the only place I am going on the internet.

I'm a big fan of those guys. Loved Fargo, Burn After Reading, and Blood Simple. Curiously some of their movies that I didn't especially care for are ones that are often regarded as great.

Going to the day game tomorrow. Wanted to go tonight cause i haven’t seen Suarez in person pitch and I’ve wanted to. I’m thrilled they won 2 to at least get the split. That’s the best they’ve done since 2016

78% of former NFL players are facing significant financial difficulties or filing for bankruptcy within 2 years of retirement, which is absolutely insane considering the amounts of money involved.

I know you get used to regular game cheques and so on, but it is genuinely really difficult to spend a couple of million dollars a year and end up with nothing whatsoever to show for it.

I expect the Patriots to be good this season if Mac Jones can improve at all on his rookie year. Say what you will about BoB the HC/GM, but he can run an offense. BB/Mayo will have that defense in check. Big upgrades at WR especially if they get Hopkins. High upside addition with Gesicki. Got 2 of the most physically impressive defensive players in the draft.

Maybe O'Brien makes a difference for Jones but I think there's a fair chance Bailey Zappe gets a shot at starter before the season is out, so they know if they have to draft again next year.

Greatest Coen Brothers movie = Raising Arizona

The NFLPA needs to do a FAR FAR better job of educating rookies on smart money management, and frankly, the agents also need to do a better job looking out for their clients' best interest and focus less on their own.  But, at the end of the day, these are grown men and they are responsible for how they handle their money.

I didn’t care for that one at all. I guess it was mildly amusing but that’s as far as I would go.

One of my least favorite of theirs actually.

Of the ones I've seen...

1. The Big Lebowski

2. No Country for Old Men

3. Fargo

4. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

5. Burn After Reading

6. A Serious Man

7. True Grit

8. Miller's Crossing

9. Blood Simple

10. Raising Arizona

11. Hail, Caesar!

12. O Brother, Where Art Though?

13. The Tragedy od Macbeth (Just Joel and no Ethan involved.  Awful movie)

No Ending For Old Men has the single worst ending in cinematic history.  Good movie for the first 80% of it, then it's as though they ran out of money/time and threw together an ending that a little kid wrote up.  It was the only time I ever remember saying "WTF" out loud when the credits came up.

I enjoyed No Country for Old Men quite a bit, though not as much as the three I listed earlier. I can see why someone would not like the ending because it does feel like a letdown. I also find some of the plotting a bit confusing. The Coen brothers movie that I always thought was massively overrated was The Big Lebowski. I was so pumped to see it because Fargo was so awesome and this was getting similar hype. Saw it and said WTF was that? Maybe if I watched it again I might like it more. But for me it was just so disappointing. I couldn’t even tell you what it was even about. Bowling and drugs, I think.

Go Eagles!

I think it was an offbeat homage to The Big Sleep and The Long Goodbye.

Loved it, "the Dude abides"

Coen's definitely have a unique style to their movies. I think No Country is their best one. The cast was incredible with Brolin, Tommy Lee, and especially Bardem.

I initially didn't like the ending when I saw it in theaters, but it's grown on me since I've gone back to rewatch it. It's basically an introspection to Tommy Lee's character that he's become older and throughout time he can't keep up with the violence anymore. He talks about how back when his dad was a cop, they didn't even have to carry guns around. Having gone through the violent ordeal that he just went through, it's him coming to the realization that he's not cut out for it anymore and the world changing for the worse.

No Country and Fargo are my favorites. Lebowski and others are great also.

Fargo has so many hilarious moments, many subtle.

For example later in the movie when Buscemi goes back to the cabin with the money and he goes up to the Russian. He calls him a mute and then in the next line says to him "I've been listening to your bull crap all week."

And everything Marge and Jerry Lundegaard says in their over the top accents is funny.

Buscemi's moments to me are the funniest though. Watching him lose his crap was gold.

They are very detailed oriented and sometimes the aesthetic of a movie gets in the way of the story itself.  Some of their movies certainly are an acquired taste.  They have a knack for understanding westerns and American stories.  Most of their stories are intertwined with violence, oppression and suffering of some form yet the stories are tied to kind of mythic ideas.  Fargo and No Country for Old Men feel like true life crime but people are not on story arcs of redemption.  People are actions headed towards inevitable consequences.
