It would be similar if VaBeach_Eagle gave everyone a week notice that he would start charging $50 a month to access these boards.

Don't give @VaBeach_Eagle any ideas! 😝

lol That would be the fastest way to chase everyone off and not bring in any revenue. Hell, I don't even want to have ads on the board (for registered members) whereas other boards have ads plastered all over the place (for members and guests alike). That may be a good way to bring in money, but I find it annoying when I'm on sites. So I'll lean on affiliate links and let everyone decide if they want to help by using the links, or not.

It'll all work out in the end.

You are a king among men.

He's a freak athlete that's for sure.

Bills Reddit is having a meltdown. Apparently:

  • Josh Allen cheated on his long term girlfriend (Brittany).
  • Got some bartender chick pregnant and paid her off to get an abortion.
  • His girlfriend found out the night before the Cincy playoff game and freaked out.
  • Police were called but the Bills kept it out of the news.
  • Diggs blames Allen's personal issues for the bad loss and/or is team Brittany.
  • Diggs also doesn't like the Bills OC who is BFFs with Allen.
  • Diggs blames Allen for not getting his preferred WR coach.
  • TIFWIW.

Sheesh.

So I might butcher this, but from my understanding, whoever owns Reddit wants to like actually make money, so they want to charge current 3rd party apps that are used to access the website. The cost supposedly would/is causing the third party apps to shut down because they can't afford it. Meanwhile, their is an official "Reddit" app that is free for anyone to use. But the mods don't like the free app and don't want to use the free app, so there's a bunch of subreddits that are joining forces and making everything private which makes the subreddits inaccessible until things change to their liking. Or until Reddit just mass bans all the mods protesting and puts in their own mods. And r/Eagles is one of them.

The whole thing is so dumb.

The thing with Reddit is that it's a sort of Rube Goldberg of a website that's been cobbled together from a lot of voluntary work done by random users and the official app has famously crappy or non existent accessibility tools, meaning disabled users and particularly blind and visually impaired ones are essentially going to be cut off if they go ahead with the changes. The moderation tools are also almost always better on the 3rd party apps.

All their content is user generated, most of the media hosting is done by 3rd parties (Imgur, gifycat and redgifs), the charges they're trying to introduce to access the data are ridiculous, one of the 3rd party app developers was told he'd be charged $20million a year for the same number of API requests that Imgur charges around $24k a year for. They could've killed 3rd party apps softly by putting the work in to improve their own app, most new users are going to try that first by default, they only move on when they realise how sheety it is, instead they're trying to kill them off in one go by pricing them out of the market.

Also far and away the majority of Reddit moderation is done by volunteers, Reddit couldn't afford to replace all of them you're talking about thousands of people, and the market they're trying to IPO on doesn't have much money for advertising around unmoderated forums involving amateur and professional porn, if the moderators down tools, Reddit hasn't got a viable business to sell.

I love Reddit, if I ever have a bike, car or PC  problem or need to do minor home repairs, I can always find someone who knows what to do on there (along with thousands of tiddie pictures but that's secondary).

This is exactly the same as what happened to HaasonReddick. They played him off the ball and he wasn’t good, then they "tried” him at his natural position he played in college, got double digit sacks and then told them to F off in free agency

6 foot 4 240 pound safety eh.  Wouldn't want to be the receiver going across the field into that.

Starting to think Seattle is going to be a tough out.  That secondary might be another No Fly Zone

You got Diggs, Julian Love, and Jamaal Adams at S .  Then Woolen, Devon Witherspoon, and Coby Bryant at CB and they get back Bobby Wagner, add Devin Bush, and put them next to Jordyn Brooks plus added Dre'Mont Jones

Then at WR they got Metcalf, Lockett and who i think to be the best WR in the draft in Njigba.  Plus they have one of the best kickers.

I wouldn't be surprised if they go after Josh Jacobs or Dalvin Cook as well.

Luckily there QB situation is questionable at best but they have a ton of talent

Wow - if true, Allen is a real cockbag eh?

I didn't know it had shut down, or when it did. I haven't noticed any uptick though, but @Moderator12 deals more directly with new registrations and would be better able to say one way or the other.

No uptick yet.  Last non-bot registration was late May.

If it were true, Diggs should have been traded during the offseason.  WR1 isn't going to win a power struggle against the franchise QB.  They should have learned from the T.O/McNabb saga -- McDermott was with the Eagles organization during that time.

I'm all for the drama when it's not our team - I hope it continues all season

Reddit is a site that can be useful at times, but it's pretty awful. One of the worst sites in existence. Back in the day it used to be an anything goes site, now it's way over-moderated and a bunch of lunatics lurk that site.

Many of the subs are auto-moderated. There have been so many times I'll go on and ask a question and it'll be auto-deleted because it triggered some unknown criteria when it was a perfectly legitimate question. Then you have to DM the mods and ask to post it. 90% of the time they don't get back to you. The 10% of the time they do, they get back to you like 2 weeks later and by then it's no longer relevant.

It's a site that implores pandering with the upvote system. Everyone tries to one up the next person, and the awful downvote system makes posts hidden if you're on a very uber sensitive sub that doesn't agree with your worldview. And foolishly, if you don't have a certain karma, it can affect your ability to use the site normally. It's a horrendous system.

And also you'll have power hungry mods go around to subs they don't like and ban everyone who uses that sub from their sub. A few months ago I was browsing the Joe Rogan sub, which is just a normal sub. People go on there and talk about his latest podcast episodes. And people who posted there were getting banned from other subreddits and the reason listed was "participating in a white supremacist community." It's a bunch of psycho blue hairs going around banning people because they enjoy things that they find evil in their unhinged minds. No mod should operate that way and any sanely run website would permanently ban those mods immediately for not acting appropriately.

My understanding is it's not going away and it was just a collective protest because of the changes

It's not, but that's still a chance to give visibility of this board which is much better better that sub.
