Knees shot and steroids banned.

That shot of Steve Everitt brought back a really bad memory. He was the guy who let Bryce Paup through to hit Randall's knee and ruin what looked to be a great season.

Wentz had covid and didn't need hospitalization. The shots are good, especially for at-risk individuals because they can significantly lessen the severity of covid, but it unfortunately didn't prevent people from still getting and spreading covid. So I don't understand the hate still directed at people that chose to decline.

Because it increased population risk needlessly as the vaccine risk is negligible. But its more disgust than hate

I think Everitt joined the team years after that.

That belongs to Andy Reid.  Howie has just continued that.  Before Andy, the OL was a laughingstock.  Since he arrived, or more exactly since 2000, and he brought in Jon Runyan, the OL has been at the top of the league, with the exception of the year we saw Jamon Brown gloving up... 2020.

But it’s so much more than that. We’ve been in a Dline renaissance since he took BG with his first ever pick as GM. Our line hasn’t been amazing every year since then, but he’s made a concerted effort to get there. Cox, Barwin(3-4edge), Babin, Marcus Smith flop, Curry, Barnett, Hargrave, Jernigan, Carter, Nolan, Reddick, Sweat, Milton, Long, Quinn, Suh, Joseph….

How many teams value the #3 DT or the #4 edge rusher as much as the Philadelphia eagles? There’s nobody even close. And it hasn’t always been like that. It’s borderline insane how much effort he puts into making sure we’re 7, 8, 9 deep there. Think about Nolan Smith. We kind of have 2 different edge positions right now, Edge LB and true DE. If you merged those into straight edges, where does Nolan rank right now with no NFL experience, not even TC? Reddick, Sweat, Graham before him of course, and I dont think you can put him above Barnett yet just due to sheer experience and know how. Maybe he ends up with more snaps this season due to the position he’ll be in relieving Reddick, but if 31 other teams had that pick at 30 with our roster, none go Edge there. But Howie does. And I love every second of it

You have no clue how risky the long term effects are with the vaccine. No one does. Take the vaccine or don't but no one should be ridiculed if they decided not to. I'm disgusted by people who feel the need to do that.

Yep. Kinda crazy the core values and philosophy has been the same across multiple HC’s and GM’s for so long. You usually don’t see that often in sports. Chip was the closest deviation but still valued the lines somewhat.

Seems my brain focused only on the OL part of the trenches.  🤷‍♂️

Except that he ignored the OL during his tenure, outside of the Lane Johnson pick.

If the shots' only protection is to the individual's potential case severity and not to others, how does it increase the risk to others  --- especially if you are getting tested regularly and quarantining as necessary? The latter two steps were the only choices that helped prevent the spread. Did Wentz or did he not get tested regularly and quarantine when necessary?

As far as his decision hurting the team, it's no difference than any other medical player choice. Players never have to do what the team recommends and are always allowed to get second opinions. DJax  bet on his body's own ability to heal rather than surgery and ended up not healing and getting the surgery. Lane Johnson bet on his own body's ability to heal when he initially hurt his ankle and when it wasn't 100% near the beginning of the next season, opted to get a temporary procedure that didn't end up getting through the season. Those are just a couple examples of thousands that can go either way, but ultimately made the player unavailable for more games. That wasn't selfishness. It was a decision the individual player thought was right. After several concussions, Luke Kuechly ended up retiring in his prime. Was that selfishness?

Especially back in 2020. Not much was known about any of it (any position).

What are you doing during the lull.  In the last two weeks, I have enjoyed the National Ranching Heritage Center, Fort Sumner and Billy the Kid’s grave, the corner of Route 66 and Rote 66, the oldest church in the US, Governor’s Palace, Bandelier, the history of the Atom Bomb, Pagosa Springs, the Million Dollar highway, Mesa Verde, Arches, Dead Horse, Canyonlands, the Uranium King’s house, a lake where you cannot hope to float, the world’s cleanest smelter, two passes over 11k, John Wayne’s favorite spot in Monument Valley touched dinosaur bones and drunk wines from IN, AR, TX, NM, AZ, UT and CO.  And points in between. There is snow on the mountaintops

It’s hot in the Hill Country. Hope you are at the least cooling down by

Well dang, nothing in comparison to that. Trying to say cool though that’s for sure.

Yep. Buddy trading for Ron Solt, whose knees were shot. Ugh!

Buddy didn't have the benefit of free agency to improve a terrible O-line. We just had the draft, trades, and waived players. Solt seemed like a sure thing. With the Wentz trade, Howie avenged us form the Solt trade.

Seems pretty accurate (based on production). I would actually have Owens and Carter switch spots, though. But it's a top 10 list. Rice should be #1 and the rest can be anywhere in the top 10.

Yeah, Everitt joined the team in 1997, six years after Bryce Paup happened.

Isaac Bruce is criminally underrated

Obviously not the forum for vaccine talk, but just for your knowledge, the vaccines are simply offshoots of cancer treatments that have been tested on humans for a decade, so if there is any long-term adverse effects, there would be some evidence.

Also, it's not the vaccine that would be the source of any problems, if there were any. It's the delivery system.

But, again, not the forum.

The guy that is always forgotten about is Sterling Sharpe.  Dude was amazing.  I think he should actually be a finalist for the HoF... along the lines of Terrell Davis and Gale Sayers... all phenomenal in their slightly shorter than normal for HoF, but put up all-time numbers while playing.  Sharpe was the first ever WR to go over 100 receptions... and did it in back to back years.   Sharpe is overlooked because the Packers had other WRs (of lesser talent) put up high numbers too for a couple years... Robert Brooks, Antonio Freeman, etc.  AND the Packers won the Super Bowl a couple years after he left.  If he had a Lombardi on his resume, he'd get more attention, but... he'll never sniff the HoF.

Sterling Sharpe was a flat out stud. Sorry fellas, I was born in Green Bay so I don't mind when they play well (as long as it isn't against the Eagles).  I loved watching him play as a kid.  Don Majkowski, Sterling Sharpe and Edgar Bennett had potential to be a big 3 just but it never happened.

@bpac55 I should have mentioned that Rope was a Hitchcock film as well. It's sort of a gimmick because it appears to be shot in one take with no cuts, but it's still fun. There are cuts but Hitchcock hides them well.

You asked if he did Psycho. No. That was Anthony Perkins. Great film.

A propos of horror films, this past week I watched X and Pearl, both with an actress I'd never seen before - Mia Goth. Absolutely fantastic performances. I mean, Oscar-worthy, especially in Pearl. Pearl is a prequel to X. If you can handle horror movies, these are among the best I've ever seen.

Depends on the kind of horror.  I can scare myself and deal with gore to an extent but if it's something that I can see truly happening to me or a loved one then I have more trouble.

Seems like the Flyers hit a roadblock with some No Trade Clauses to get a big deal done this weekend.  Bummer, was looking forward to some moves.  I'm sure we'll see some over the next few days yet.

Another season, another year we have the best Lines in the game.

Life is good!

Still will never understand how the KC D-line was beating our all world O-line in the super bowl. That was one of the most disappointing things to me besides the obvious.
